Elden Ring Nightreign DLC Guide – How To Defeat Balancers

How to Defeat Balancers

Discover everything you need to know about how to defeat Balancers in Elden Ring Nightreign DLC, including some useful tips.

Balancers in Elden Ring Nightreign are one of the Nightlords added to the Forsaken Hollow DLC expansion. Defeating this boss can be challenging, as there are multiple Balancers in combat. Using the weapon that inflicts the Sleep status effect is your best bet to win in this fight. This multi-phase boss fight is far more dangerous in the second phase because the boss performs some lethal attacks.

Defeating this boss with your teammates can make the work easy. Balancers also unleash an explosive AoE attack from the sky that you then also quickly want to dodge. Swipe combo, stab combo, grab attack, pink orbital strike, and AoE are the deadly attacks of this boss in Phase 2. Choose the build that synergizes with your playstyle, allowing you to dominate this boss in combat. The battle to take down the Balancers will not be the toughest fight you have faced so far.

Who are Balancers?

Balancers are not a single enemy, as they are actually a group of seven valkyrie-type warriors. Their proper name in lore is Weapon-Bequeathed Harmonia. The encounter with the Balancers is a multi-enemy boss fight, so you fight all seven valkyries together, which makes it more chaotic and dangerous. After you defeat the first phase, the fight shifts.

One of the Balancers returns as a special, more powerful leader, while the others revive as support. You can only trigger the Balancers’ expedition after unlocking the two new Nightfarers (Scholar and Undertaker). Make sure to defeat at least two Nightlords, Tricephalos, and one other. The Balancers are weak to Sleep status effects, so equip the weapons or consumables that inflict Sleep.

Beating the Balancers gives you access to a relic called The Will of the Balancers. This relic grants boosts such as increased melee attack power, increased skill attack power, and continuous FP recovery.

Balancers Phase 1 Attacks

The Balancers have common attacks in Phase 1 that can be pretty much avoided by using the right strategies. Spear AoE, Overhead Fissure, and Slash are the three main attacks of Balancers in Phase 1.

  • Spear AoE – The boss plunges his spear into the ground, and the ground will begin to glow. The spear will be removed after a few seconds, and more damage spears will spawn from the ground. Make sure to get out of the glowing circle on the ground.
  • Overhead Fissure – Plunge the sword in front of them, swiping at the player. They can also plunge the spear into the ground, and it will glow. A glow will move on the ground, sending the attack that explodes with a spear. You need to dodge back from the attack get out of the sight of the glowing ground area.
  • Slash – They pull their spear behind them before slashing sideways at a player. Make sure to dodge back or sideways to get away from the spear’s attack. The Balancer can either fly over to the player or from the side of them to complete this attack combo.

Balancers Phase 2 Attacks

Below are all the Phase 2 attacks of Balancers in the Elden Ring Nightreign DLC.

  • Red Mark – Balancer targets a single player. This will leave a red mark on them. Make sure to maintain the main Balancer’s aggro while others keep dealing damage to the Balancers.
  • Diving Fissures – The boss commands all her allies to the sky, and they land on the players, leaving fissures in the ground. This will then explode after a short delay. Make sure to dodge the Balancers and run away from the fissures.
  • Explosive AoE – The boss conjures an explosive AoE attack from the sky. This will send spears into the ground, so get ready to sprint away till it ends.
  • Explosive AoE upon Death – Some Balancers will explode or summon spears from the ground beneath them after they die. Make sure to run away after you kill them during the fight.
  • Swipe Combo – The Balancers jump into the air before swiping at players in front of them multiple times. You can simply avoid this attack by dodging to the side or sprinting away.
  • Stab Combo – Balancers move into the air before then unleashing a combination of stab attacks. Your best bet here is to dodge sideways.
  • Grab Attack – Balancers have a devastating grab attack with a longer range. You can see her jumping into the air with her hand in front of her. Make sure to dodge through this or move beneath her.
  • Waves – This boss jumps into the air and sends pink projectile waves in both horizontal and vertical directions. Dodge through these and get ready for more waves in a row.
  • Pink Orbital Strike and AoE – Conjure a pink glowing circle on the ground before appearing and unleashing an AoE attack. Get ready to sprint out of the circle to avoid taking any damage.

How To Defeat Balancers

The fight starts with you fighting the seven deadly valkyries. Each of these bosses has a different health bar, meaning you need to eliminate all of them during the fight. Your goal in phase 1 is to avoid taking the damage and focus on eliminating the single foes together with your teammates. I recommend using

the sleep consumables and sleep-inflicted weapons to dominate them in combat. However, all of these Valkyries have few attacks in this phase that you can pretty much dodge and avoid.

Spamming the attacks while being close to the boss will lead you into bigger trouble. This is because Sacred Eruption causes spearheads to erupt from the ground. Make sure you’re at level 14 before fighting Balancers at standard difficulty. Keep in mind that Balancers can deal only physical damage, making the physical damage negation important.

Use the Dormant Power that grants Improved Physical Damage Negation. You can pretty easily block the Balancers’ attacks and deal massive damage to them. Make sure you’re not using the Healing Flasks frequently in this phase, as you may need them in the next phase. The boss will be down 30% health after you deal with all the Balancers. After that, each one of them will rise to fight again in Phase 2.

Balancers Phase 2

Phase 2 is much more challenging because the Balancers have more attacks and deal more damage in combat. Avoiding these attacks is not easy, as there are many of them. I recommend focusing on the elite enemy first and trying to DPS it down. If you’re playing with the team, eliminate the smaller enemies and then focus on the elite one.

Putting the major boss to sleep can make things much easier, as you get the opportunity to deal more damage. One of the Valkyrie becomes more powerful than the others and will have pink wings. This is the elite enemy that you need to focus on after eliminating the others. Make sure to dodge every possible attack, including the AoE explosion.

The Balancer will come down and attack you from everywhere. You can either choose to attack the individual Balancers and start dealing damage to the main boss or deal damage to the empowered one. It’s worth mentioning that they will awake even if their health bar drops to 0.

I recommend focusing on the empowered Valkyrie because eliminating this one allows the other Balancers to get a temporary stun. Use this crucial time to start spamming the attacks to take them out.

Balancer Phase 3

Valkyries in Phase 3 will regenerate only when you move away from them. All of these Valkyries will be using sweeping attacks on you. I recommend putting all of them to sleep again and focusing your attacks on the main boss. If you’re focusing on the smaller enemies, your teammates must focus on dealing damage to the empowered one.

Use your Ultimate ability to deal heavy damage and eliminate the Balancers. Use St. Trina for 40,000 runes or any sleep damage weapons before starting the expedition. Make sure to collect four crystal powers and obtain the false version of the great rune. This rune allows your Ultimate Art to charge quickly.
