Elden Ring Nightreign DLC Walkthrough – Scholar Remembrance Quest

Scholar Rememberance quest

Discover everything you need to know about completing the Scholar Remembrance quest walkthrough in the Elden Ring Nightreign DLC.

Scholar Remembrance is a special multi-chapter questline in the Nightreign DLC that belongs specifically to the new Nightfarer class Scholar. Go to the Roundtable Hold and start the Remembrance from the Scholar’s Journal after unlocking Chapter 3. Once Chapter 5 becomes available, start the Remembrance from the Journal. The Cleansing Tear is obtained after the second Remembrance.

This reward boosts Scholar’s ultimate-art effects, makes damage over time more powerful, and improves affinity damage negation. You don’t always need to win an Expedition, as dying or failing still counts toward unlocking certain journal chapters. Make sure to go to the Chapel in the Hold, read the Vassal’s Journal on the Scholar’s desk.

Scholar Remembrance Quest Overview

Remembrance quests in Nightreign are the hidden character-specific questlines that unlock extra lore, unique relics, and cosmetics. The Scholar Remembrance questline consists of 9 Chapters. To trigger Remembrance-specific objectives and bosses, you must start the Remembrance via the Journal before launching an Expedition.

Completing certain Chapters gives you the Scholar’s Chalice, the Cleansing Tear Relic, and a final relic called My Dear Successor. In the final chapter, you unlock a special cosmetic skin for Scholar. The final chapter requires you to defeat the Dreglord. Collect the Memory Fragments in Chapter 3 and eliminate another Nightlord in Chapter 7. You often don’t need to win the expedition, as dying can still count, as long as the objective is triggered.

Unlock Scholar’s Remembrances

Unlocking the Scholar’s Remembrances in Elden Ring Nightreign DLC can be challenging, as you need to complete its Journal Entries. Chapters are unlocked by completing personal objectives and running expeditions.

  • Chapter 1 – Unlocked once Scholar is unlocked.
  • Chapter 2 – After finishing any Expedition as a Scholar (win or lose).
  • Chapter 3 – Eliminate any Nightlord or complete Expeditions for Memory Fragments.
  • Chapter 4 & 5 – Complete the first Remembrance Quest.
  • Chapter 6 & 7 – Complete the second Remembrance Quest.
  • Chapter 8 – Unlocked after Chapter 7 and requires Defeating Balancers in combat.
  • Chapter 9 – Unlocked automatically after finishing the final Remembrance.

Initiate Scholar Remembrance Quest

Install the Forsaken Hollows and unlock the Scholar in Elden Ring Nightreign. Doing so allows you to unlock the Scholar’s Chapter 1 in the journal. Take part in a few runs and get your hands on the Memory Fragments to unlock Chapters 2 and 3.

Keep in mind that you must eliminate the Nightlord while running the Scholar to unlock Chapter 3. You will find yourself in Chapter 3 by just playing the game. Initiate the remembrance quest by making your way back to the Roundtable and gaining the message twice.

Begin Remembrance Quest in Chapter 3

Upon stating the remembrance quest, your first objective is to investigate the book on the table. You will learn that you need to examine the underground chamber. This chamber is located just below the march. Getting there is not easy, as you need to initiate the expedition. The Forsaken Hollows brings the two expeditions for all the players out there, so you need to choose one. I recommend choosing the Balancers because it’s a bit easier.

Make sure to open the map after loading into your game. You will locate a red banner, which is your personal objective. This is a bit confusing, as it may seem like an icon, but it totally changes when you reach there. This is now changed into the abandoned castle that is filled with water. This place has a water status ailment and will vary based on the icon on your map.

Make your way inside the castle and pass through the hole in the wall on the left side of the area. Be aware of the deadly enemies in this place, but you can just avoid them. Engaging with them will alert the other enemies, and they will rush towards you.

Go all the way to the edge and drop down just to the lower ledge. Find the window on your right from here and get inside to drop down into the hole. Approach the glowing object in the next room. You can find this object on the table. So, interacting with it allows you to gain Vassal’s Journal. Keep moving, and you will find yourself at the Roundhold Table.

You need to go to the Chapel and locate the Undertaker. This Nightfarer is licking the purple wall in this area. Speak with her and then talk to Iron Menial. Talk to the Undertaker after examining the Vassal’s Journal on the table. Doing so allows you to complete Chapter 3 and gain the Scholar’s Chalice vessel.

Remembrance Quest in Chapter 5

Go to the journal and choose Begin Remembrance on Chapter 5. Open your map to find the marked spot. Head over there and talk to Small Jar Bazar. Make sure to bring the relics that provide your weapon Bleed or Frostbite, an Ash of War like Hoarfrost Stomp or Blood Blade. Choose the “ask to be shown to the Great Hollow” to teleport yourself to the northern side of the Great Hollow.

Take the stairs to move up and defeat all the enemies over there. Use the bleed and frostbite attack to kill them quickly. Find the giant rock hanging from the ceiling after reaching the top. Make your way to the tip and jump to the rafters. Keep finding the opening window in the wall. Once you locate it, pass through it to get to the locked door. You will hear an unknown voice, so follow it.

Make your way back to the big room and eliminate the enemies over there. I recommend debuffing them by scanning them from the rafters. Get down and engage with them. It’s best to use your Ultimate Art to defeat the enemies at once. The Hoarfrost Stomp and invisibility on frostbite allow you to deal heavy damage. Once done with that, go all the way back to the locked door.

Get inside the room and examine the note on the table. Examining the crystal over there allows you to complete the remembrance quest Chapter 5 and earn Cleaning Tear relics.

Remembrance Quest in Chapter 7

Chapter 7 in Elden Ring Nightreign DLC is unlocked by eliminating the Balancers. Equip your best weapons and relics to eliminate this boss using the right strategy. You need to get inside the Remembrance and finish the objective in the Chapel.

Interacting with the Scholar’s desk allows you to learn more about Cleansing Tear. Speak with the Undertaker and make your way to the Change Grab area. Go back to the Chapel and interact with the Scholar’s desk. You will get multiple options, but you need to choose the “Oneself” option.

The new expedition objective requires you to defeat the Dreglord in Limveld. Eliminating this boss can be challenging, as the fight is multi-phase. Once done with that, you will gain the Headband of the Golden Ones. Return to the Chapel in the Roundtable Hold and talk to Undertaker.

Interact with the Scholar’s desk for the last time and gain the Scholar’s Remembrance Outfit and the Note: My Dear Successor Relic as a reward.

Scholar’s Remembrance Rewards

Completing the Scholar Remembrance quest in Elden Ring Nightreign allows you to gain the following rewards.

Finish the Chapter 3 Remembrance quest to gain Scholar’s Chalice. Use this item to gain 1 Red, 1 Blue, and 1 Universal Relic Slot.

Completing the Chapter 5 Remembrance Quest allows you to acquire Cleansing Tear. This item improves affinity damage negation, and eliminating enemies fills more of the Art gauge.

Note: “My Dear Successor” is the reward that you obtain for completing Chapter 8 Remembrance Quest. This item prevents the slowing of character skill progress, and the allies targeted by the character skill gain a boosted attack.

Make sure to complete Scholar’s Chapter 8 Remembrance Quest to gain Remembrance Scholar to unlock the Scholar’s Remembrance garb.
