Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough of the Procuring Friends quest in Expeditions: Samurai.
Expeditions: Samurai is a tactical RPG featuring team-based and turn-based combat. As this is an RPG, you will also have to make crucial decisions every now and then.

Expeditions: Samurai is currently available in Early Access, so you can expect to come across some bugs and glitches. Since this is not the final version of the game, there are still issues that need to be ironed out. During our playthrough, we ran into a few bugs, but none of them were game-breaking. That said, you may encounter an issue that could affect your experience. If you would rather wait for a more polished version, it may be worth holding off until the full release. On the other hand, if you are interested in jumping in early and sharing constructive feedback on what could be improved, your input could help the developer make the game even better.

Procuring Friends Walkthrough
After you finish the License to Do Nothing quest, someone will slip past your crew to meet you. After speaking with that person, you will receive your next objectives. You now have to retrieve the letters you gave to the Lord of Tanaka so you can continue progressing through the story.
However, keep in mind that Ishiko, the mysterious person who approached you, must survive.
Retrieve the Queen’s Letter and the Letter of Marque
There are quite a few guards in the area, so be careful. As you begin the quest, there will be a piece of wooden furniture on the right side. Loot everything inside it and then open the door ahead. Take down the guard using Kage and repeat the same strategy for a few more guards.
We recommend defeating every guard in combat because there is a lot of valuable loot throughout the manor. You can either remain very stealthy while thinning out their numbers or fight them head-on.
We recommend staying stealthy at first and reducing their numbers before engaging in a full fight. Even if combat begins early, it will not be that difficult. That is because all of the guards are scattered throughout the mansion. They will spend many of their turns simply trying to reach your party.
This gives you enough time to deal with the enemies closest to you while positioning your characters in places where you have the advantage.
Defeat all the guards, loot their bodies, collect everything inside the manor, and then retrieve the letters you need. Once you have done that, your objective will update.
Talk to Ishiko Near the Exit
You now need to head to the exit and speak with Ishiko. If there is nothing else left to loot, head outside and start a conversation with Ishiko.
Keep in mind that you cannot start conversations with NPCs unless you are controlling the main character. Make sure your main character is selected whenever you are trying to speak with someone.
After finishing your conversation with Ishiko, it is time to meet the smugglers.
Meet the Smugglers
Head straight ahead and, before reaching the exit point, turn left and enter the marked house. Inside the house, you will find a person named Manuela Da Silva. Enter the room and begin the conversation. There will be three dialogue options to choose from.
We selected the first option, then chose the first option again, and finally refused to cooperate with her. After that, Julia Ota joins the conversation, and you will be given two more dialogue options. We selected the second option. Finish the conversation, and the Procuring Friends quest in Expeditions: Samurai will be complete.
With that, the game will also come to an end for now, as the Early Access version currently contains only this much main story content. So far, you have completed the first act. The second act is scheduled to be released in November 2026, while the full story is planned to arrive in March 2027.
