FAR: Changing Tides Walkthrough – Part 3: Learning to Sail

Part 3: Learning to Sail

Enter the ship and climb all the way to the top.

Head right towards the front part of the ship and jump on the blue button sticking out of the ship to install the first core of the ship.

This will enable the sail mechanism and drop your ship into the water.

Now we’ll learn how to operate the sail. Push the big blue button all the way to the right, so that the mast is erected. If you push the button again, the mast will go down. Climb the ladder on the mast all the way to the top and pull the hook on the very top of the mast.

 

Jump down with the hook held and attach it to the catch near the back of the ship. This will raise your sail and give you forward movement. You will have to repeat this procedure whenever you wish to get the ship moving by sail.

As the ship moves forward and exits the factory, use the blue handle to the right of the catch (and to the left of the sail button) to control the angle of the sail.

The angle you want will depend on the direction of the wind. You can figure this out by looking at the sail and watching for the blowing wind to the left of the sail.

Also keep an eye on the line to the right of the mast. If you’re catching wind well, the flag will run all the way to the top, into the blue area of the line. Your starboard sails will also deploy when your flag is in the blue zone.

You should try to keep the flag in the blue zone by adjusting the sails as necessary, so that you get the maximum speed possible.

Now your ship is finally moving out into the big wide world! Continue sailing, adjusting the sails as necessary until you reach a wooded area.
