Kurosawa House First Floor

As you enter the Kurosawa House, you’ll find a Butterfly Lantern right next to you to save your progress.

Move forward along the Hallway. Pick up the Reversion Beads on the floor. Note the Double Diamond Door on the right that’s locked. This leads to the Storage Room.

Go left into the Ombre Room. You’ll be able to snap a Spirit photograph here near the hiding spot.

Go to where you saw the Spirit, and you’ll be able to pick up the Fearful Man’s Note.
You’ll also find the Folklorist’s Note 3, a Stone Mirror, and some Type 61-Film in the room. When you’re ready, try to open the door to head deeper into the house.

But you’ll see that the door is held shut by a powerful force. Turn around to spot a Wraith. This one can get aggravated twice during the fight. Take it down and head through the door to reach the Dirt Passageway.

You’ll see Mayu’s Vanishing Trace walking north along the Dirt Passageway. Follow the Vanishing Trace.

You’ll be able to snap another photograph of a Spirit.

Note the path leading left along the Dirt Passageway. This takes you to a dead end. You can find some Type-90 Film and the Glowing Green Crystal 2 in the dirt section of the area.

When you’re ready, follow the Dirt Passageway to the end. You’ll have to fight another Wraith up ahead, but it shouldn’t be too difficult to take down.

Pick up the Faintly Glowing Crystal from where the Wraith came and then head through the door on the right to enter the Main Hall.

You’ll see Mayu limping off through a door at the other end of the Main Hall. You can snap a picture of her if you want.

From the door, head right to pick up Mayu’s Charm 3.

Then make your way toward the door you saw Mayu take, but you’ll soon trigger a cutscene.
Escaping the Kusabi

Once the cutscene ends, you’ll see a powerful Wraith spawn in the middle of the Main Hall. This is the Kusabi, and you can’t damage it. Taking a picture of it does nothing, and it will kill you in one hit. All you can do is run away and hide.
You’ll encounter the Kusabi several times later on, and each time the screen will turn black and white when it’s near.

Quickly stand up and start running toward the door that you saw Mayu walk out of. The Kusabi is on your trail, so you need to move fast.

Go up the stairs as quickly as possible.

Once you reach the top of the staircase, you’ll notice a hiding spot on the right. If you look closely, you’ll see a Crimson Butterfly guiding you toward it.

Crouch inside the hiding spot and wait. The Kusabi will lose sight of you if you’re quick enough. You’ll see it floating through the door on the right.
Unlocking the Exposure Filter

Wait a while and then head through the door that the Kusabi opened for you. You can spot Mayu’s Vanishing Traces again as you walk along the Guest Hallway.
The door on the left in the middle of the hallway is locked right now. This leads to the Master’s Chamber.

Go to the end of the Guest Hallway and enter the Guest Room through the door at the end.

There’s a Butterfly Lantern here, along with some Type-14 Films, Type-61 Films, and a Lunar Incense that you can pick up. You’ll see Mayu’s Vanishing Trace head into the next room, called the Flickering Room. Follow it.

Mayu’s Vanishing Trace goes in through the door at the end of the Flickering Room. But it’s locked and requires the Triple Diamond Key.

Return to the Guest Room to find the Spirit of a man holding the Camera Obscura. Snap a photograph of it for some points. When it disappears, loot the item on the floor for the Exposure Filter Memo and unlock the Exposure Filter for the Camera Obscura.

Just like how the Paraceptual Filter lets you see Vanishing Traces, the Exposure Filter has the unique ability to reveal hidden things. Use the Exposure Filter to take a photo of the Bookshelf next to the Butterfly Lantern in the Guest Room to reveal it.

Walk up to the bookshelf and check the suitcase at the top to trigger a short cutscene and find the Folklorist’s Note 2 and Broken Lazulite. This also activates the Seijiro Makabe Side Story, but you can’t complete it before finishing Chapter 4.
Obtaining the Triple Diamond Key

Return to the Guest Hallway to spot a Spirit heading into the Master’s Chamber you saw earlier. You can take a picture of the Spirit. Head into the Master’s Chamber afterward. It’ll be open now.

You’ll see the Spirit again, looking down from the balcony. Take a photograph and then pick up the item near its feet.

You’ll manage to grab the Triple Diamond Key Memo, but a Picture will fall to the lower floor.

Inspect the Buddha Statue at the center of the Master’s Chamber. This is a puzzle that we’ll have to solve in Chapter 4.

Return to the hallway and go through the door leading to the Courtyard Staircase. Keep walking back toward Kurosawa House Entrance, where you started the chapter.

You’ll find the Folklorist’s Note 4 in the Main Hall near the burnt cauldron.

At the Dirt Passageway, you can photograph another Spirit.

As you proceed through the area, you might run into the Kusabi patrolling the halls. If you do, run back to the closest hiding spot and wait for it to stop chasing you.

When you get to the Entrance, you’ll have to fight a Wraith near the Butterfly Lantern. Take it down and pick up the Photo: Servant’s Room from the ground near the door.

With the Photo in hand, make your way back to the Dirt Passageway and take the left path with the trail of blood. You’ll run into the Kusabi once again here.

Quickly run back to the Ombre Room and use the hiding spot to avoid getting caught.

When the Kusabi goes away, return to the Dirt Passageway and follow the blood trail to a dead end.

Use the Exposure Filter to reveal the door to the Servant’s Room. Head inside.

As you enter the Servant’s Room, there is a Glowing Green Crystal and some Type-90 Films that you’ll want to pick up. There’s also a set of Prayer Beads in one corner near a pile of rubble.

Head toward the half-opened door at the other end of the room. Use the Exposure Filter and snap a picture of a Revanent hiding there.

The Revenant disappears, leaving behind the Triple Diamond Key. Pick it up.
Returning to the Flickering Room

After picking up the Triple Diamond Key, you’ll be attacked by two Wraiths. Take them down and head back to the Dirt Passageway.

Keep moving forward. When you open the door to the Main Hall, you’ll see the Kusabi standing on the other side of the door.

Run back all the way to the Ombre Room and use the hiding spot to hide.

When the Kusabi goes away, make your way slowly to the second floor of Kurosawa House. Head to the Flickering Room and use the Triple Diamond Key to open the door and head inside.

This will trigger another cutscene as Mio is reunited with Mayu. This marks the start of Chapter 4.
