Flesh Made Fear – Sewers And Rotwood Downtown Walkthrough

Flesh Made Fear

Welcome to our walkthrough of Flesh Made Fear, which is full of gore and blood, and it only gets worse as you get further in the game. After finding and putting Cole to rest, you’ll have to go through the trickiest area in the game, Rotwood Downtown. For more information on Flesh Made Fear, check out their official Steam page.

In order to reach Rotwood Downtown, you’ll have to go through the sewers at the end of Rotwood Outskirts. This area is quite long and has a variety of puzzles, as well as unique locations that can only be accessed depending on the character you’re playing as.

Sewers

Right at the end of the Rotwood Outskirts area, you’ll enter the sewers. The path here is quite straightforward. You have to walk straight in, and you’ll find a desk where you can save the game and access the storage. If you go up from there, you’ll find two doors, each locked behind a different medallion.

If you go down, you’ll find your partner stuck behind the other side of the sewers. Now, depending on whether you’re playing as Natalie or Jack, your partner is either Marcus or Katla, respectively. You’ll have to control your partner. Pass through the sewer’s green liquid, but be wary of the green zombies that pop out. These green zombies require exactly two attacks from your knife to be killed.

After you’ve made your way across, you’ll find a gate locked behind a switch. Opening this gate will lead you to a puzzle where you’ll have to balance the liquid in two tubes by adding or draining a fixed amount. Once you’ve solved the puzzle, you’ll gain one of the two medallions based on the character you’re playing as. There will also be a lift, but the switch on the lift is broken.

As soon as your partner picks the medallion, they’ll immediately come to you and hand it over. You can then unlock one of the two gates based on the medallion. If you’re playing as Jack, you’ll be able to access the Radio Station, and if you’re playing as Natalie, you’ll end up in the Meat Shop.

WRot Radio Station

As you enter the Radio Station, you’ll find a puzzle where you have to match the waves on a device. Once you do that, it will unlock the gate, and you’ll have to fight against a unique boss to gain access to the Rotwood Downtown.

Defeating the monster will drop the Radio Station key, which can then be used to unlock the main gate outside.

Barlow’s Meat Shop

After exiting the sewer as Natalie, you’ll be able to enter Barlow’s meat shop. There’s a door that leads you to a room behind the main shop just after exiting the sewers. You’ll find a tape here detailing a locker code. You can also save your game here and access the storage.

Once you’re ready, you can head out and enter the main shop. There’s a puzzle here that requires you to interact with the skulls of different animals. You have to press the buttons on the skulls in this order: Cow, Deer, Pig, Goat. After you do that, the main door will open. There’s a safe room ahead, but after that, you’ll have to fight against another unique boss.

Defeating this boss will cause it to drop the Barlow’s Meat Shop Key, which can be used to unlock the gate outside the meat shop to access Rotwood Downtown.

Rotwood Downtown

Here, you’ll find three altars in front of a locked door near the intersection. You have to find three unique canes and place them inside these altars to unlock the gate, which leads to the Rotwood Cemetery. Now, these canes are hidden in different places.

One of the canes is in the Rotwood School. You can find the second cane in the Crimson Reels cinema, and the third cane is in Bethany’s Curse and Crafts.

There are plenty of enemies here, but you don’t have to kill everyone. Save your bullets because you’ll be needing them against bosses and in scenarios where there’s no choice but to kill the zombies. However, it’s best to just run past the zombies that are roaming around in the open in the Downtown areas.

Bethany’s Curse And Crafts

From the intersection, make your way towards the gate that has the school behind it. Instead of heading in the direction of the school, keep going ahead.

As you move a little further in the area, you’ll find a garage; it’s easy to miss, but there are plenty of resources inside, as well as access to storage.

Take what you need and move out towards Bethany’s Curse and Crafts. As you enter the building, you’ll find a monument in the middle of the store. This monument talks about some sort of moth.

If you look around the area, you’ll find a part of the moth’s body, but for the other part, you’ll have to go downstairs. As you go down, you’ll find a riddle on the wall outside the room.

Once you’re inside the room, find three portraits, with a triangle stating three options: The Stars, The Sun, and The Moon. You have to rotate the statement on the triangle to match the portraits, as depicted by the riddle.

For The Lovers, rotate the triangle to The Stars. The Sun goes under the Devil’s portrait, while the Moon should be placed in front of Death’s portrait.

After doing so, the gate will unlock, leading you to the other half of the moth. Combine both parts of the moth in your inventory, and place it in the monument to get the first cane.

Gunderson’s General Store

After exiting Bethany’s Curse and Crafts, if you keep moving deeper, you’ll end up at Gunderson’s General Store. There are some zombies inside, and you can get a lot of resources from this area.

There’s a room with a welcome board in front of it. You’ll find a journal tape and a corpse sitting on a chair. The tape talks about a powerful gun.

If you check the corpse, you’ll find the gun room key. Head back to the main store, and you’ll find a locked door upstairs. You’ll find the grenade launcher gun there, alongside some bullet crafting resources.

Once you’ve picked up the gun, go back to the room where you found the corpse on the chair, and keep moving ahead. You’ll find Bill and Zach there. Bill is hurt, and Zach is watching over him. Zach gives you a Ritual Medallion, saying that it might help you out. You can save the game here.

As you exit the building, you’ll find sewers outside. You’ll have to use the sewer opening tool here to open it. From there, you’ll have to walk in a straight line through the green liquid with those green zombies spawning at every meter. Make your way to the other side and interact with the ladder to get out in the open.

Vincent Rypard’s House

After you resurface from the sewers, you’ll have to go through Vincent Rypard’s house. There are two bloated zombies in the way. Defeat the zombies and go inside the house.

You can save the game inside the house or access the storage. You’ll even find the hole through which your partner fell in the sewers. Now, there’s a puzzle in the house.

There are three portraits, each with a button, inside the house. There’s also a riddle on the wall with a door. You can exit this house without doing anything, as the puzzle is entirely optional, but it will lead you to save your partner.

First, press the button on the Life portrait, then on the Pain portrait. Lastly, press the button on the Death portrait, and it will shift a bookshelf near it, opening a secret pathway.

Go and access the basement door in the secret pathway. This will lead you to an underground laboratory.

There’s a room here with a control panel connected to the sewers. You can use it to manually activate the lift inside the sewers, saving your partner’s life. You don’t know where they’ll resurface, but for now, this will be enough.

After saving your partner, exit the house. There will be a mouth-tree with a Ripper’s Tape inside it, alongside an already opened sewer. Interacting with the sewer will immediately teleport you to another area, where you can open the door to return to the downtown.

The Crimson Reel

As you exit the sewers, you’ll find the gate where you can use the Ritual Medallion that you received from Zach. There are a ton of zombies on the other side that you will have to fight against. Make sure you’re stocked up on bullets.

The Crimson Reel cinema is locked, and for its key, you’ll have to go to another shop in the area called Video Outlaw. In Video Outlaw, if you go upstairs inside the XXX room, you can save your game. Access the storage, and take out the hammer from it.

Go downstairs, there’s a door behind the counter that is locked by planks. Use the hammer here to unlock the way. This will open a path to Video Outlaw’s basement.

You’ll find a corpse and a journal tape here. Search the corpse for Crimson Reel’s key.

Once you’ve gotten the key, head to the cinema and open it. There will be two flying zombies. Use your handgun or MP5 to quickly take down both of them. You can then head to the movie room.

You’ll find another flying zombie here. Kill it. On the other end of the movie room, you’ll find the Serpent Cane. Exit the cinema and return to the downtown area.

The Rotwood School

Once you’re back in downtown, you have to go to the Rotwood School for the third and final cane. You can go there by taking the same path that you took to get to Bethany’s Curse and Crafts, except you’ll have to take the turn left right after entering the section.

There are plenty of child zombies here outside of the school. You can simply rush past them. Enter the school and keep going until you reach the safe room.

Your shotgun is the weapon of choice here. You’ll find several shotgun bullets or crafting materials in this building, which further complements the fact that the zombies will line up in such a way that you can easily shoot them down with a shotgun bullet.

In the deepest room, you’ll find a female zombie dressed as a witch. This zombie appears unique, but is exactly like the regular zombies that you’ve encountered so far. You can easily kill it with your handgun. There will be a journal tape in the room, which shows that this zombie was the teacher.

Pick the Skull Cane from the pedestal and return to downtown.

Rotwood Cemetery

Put each cane in the altar, and that will unlock the path to Rotwood Cemetery. There are some zombies in the way, but run straight to the other side and you’ll find the cemetery there.

The main gate is locked, but if you go to the right, you’ll find some bandages and other resources. There’s a cabin on the left side of the cemetery, connected to the main gate via a cable.

Go inside the cabin. You can save the game here. There’s a riddle on the wall, and the cable connected to the main gate is attached to a clock.

Now, you have to adjust the hour hand to be on 4, and the minute hand should be on 10. As soon as you make the clock hit 4:50, the gate will open. Make sure you’ve stocked up on weapons, especially the grenade launcher and the shotgun, as well as blood bags or bandages.

As you enter the cemetery, you’ll find Dr. Ripper, who will then unleash his creation on you. This one-eyed monster is sturdy and doesn’t get staggered easily.

You have to keep shooting at it while it spews blood at you. After throwing up blood, the monster will get staggered for a short while, which is your window to keep attacking.

After you’ve defeated the monster, you’ll be able to get further inside the cemetery. You’ll find the Runic Tram Key further in the cemetery.

Rotwood Trolley

After you’ve acquired the key, you can head back to downtown. Get on the trolley here, and insert the Runic Tram Key in the keyhole.

As soon as you do that, the trolley will leave downtown, and you’ll arrive the the Redwick House, the final area.
