Gecko Gods Walkthrough Part 1: Great Water Gecko

Gecko Gods Great Water Gecko

Gecko Gods is an immersive puzzle-based game developed by Inresin and published by Super Rare Originals and Gamersky Games. You take control of a blue gecko, who wanders around the world, solves puzzles, and uncovers the story of a forgotten archipelago. If you’re hearing about Gecko Gods for the first time, make sure to check out its Steam page for more information.

In this detailed walkthrough, I will provide you with solutions to numerous puzzles that you encounter and how the game plays out.

The Beginning

The Archipelago.

It begins with an island inhabited by Geckos, and the one that we will control follows a butterfly. However, the tree’s branch breaks, and the Gecko falls into the ocean. The waves take it away to an island, and from here, our story begins.

As soon as the game begins, you will find a door before you. To open it, climb the right wall and hold the right-click to open Gecko’s mouth. Get close to the switch, then use your mouth to grab it; drag it up to open the door.

The Gate to The Mysterious Caves.

Head inside, and there will be a giant Gong. Jump and touch it to ring it, and open the door to enter the Mysterious Caves.

Mysterious Caves

The Room With Two Gecko Statues.

These vast caves consist of waterfalls and are covered with ladybugs; they won’t hurt you, so don’t worry. Move forward and go behind the waterfall to find the next cave. There, avoid the crabs that can kill your Gecko in six hits. See a door before you? It requires two switches to work. One of them is located just to the left side of the door, and the second switch is on the roof.

Press left-click to dash away to avoid the crabs. Wait, dash, and move to activate the switches to open the door slowly. The path will lead you into a hallway with torches, where two Gecko statues can be discovered. A slab will give you a summary of how this world works: Gecko Gods are in slumber and wait for the right time to return to the ground.

Activating a Switch.

With this, the second objective is simultaneously activated with Mysterious Caves.

Great Water Gecko

A Slab With The Archipalego’s Backstory.

Great Water Gecko is the second objective, tasking you to awaken the Great Water Gecko. Now, exit the room through the next door to find projectile-throwing crabs. Press left-click to dash into the crabs to defeat them, and then climb up the giant grey pipe before you.

While the area above seems like a dead end, climb the fence to your left to enter the next area; this will complete the Mysterious Caves objective. There, you will find four slabs with words engraved. Interact with them to unlock the next objectives, which require our Gecko to solve unique puzzles, ring the Gongs, and awaken the Great Water Gecko.

Tower Gong

Entering The Tower.

First, enter the door to your right (from the direction of the fence that you climbed to reach the slabs), and you will see the tower. Drop off the cliff, and then climb the staircase near the tower; follow all the small yellow rings to reach the tower’s top ultimately.

The Bottom of The Tower.

After going through all the rings, the water flowing in the tower will stop. This will drain the entire tower, revealing a Gong at the bottom. Now, jump down and ring the Gong to complete the first puzzle. Exit the tower’s lower area and return to the room with four slabs.

Gauntlet Gong

The Falling Platforms.

To get to the gauntlet Gong, turn right to enter the next door and find a giant gecko statue. Move towards the statue and find a puzzle behind it. Three stone platforms will fall if you step on them. Sprint on the platforms to cross them faster and reach the switch. Pull it up to drain the water below the platforms, which unlocks a path at the bottom.

Stick to the right wall and move downwards to find a room with a waterwheel. Jump across the platforms to get to the waterwheel; climb it to find the second switch to drain the water again. Drop down on the small rocks, turn right to find an ascending platform, and climb up the ledges to find three projectile-throwing crabs. From there, drop down on the five falling platforms to find the third switch.

The Ascending Platform.

This will drain the water behind you. Jump down and climb on the ascending platform. Finally, go through the small hole to ring the second Gong. To return to the slab room, exit the gauntlet through the newly-opened path, climb up the gauntlet, and get inside the pyramid; that’s the room you’re looking for.

Cathedral Gong

A Rotatable Switch For The Door.

Inside the slab room, turn right to find a small bridge attached to a grey rock. There, before you, will be a giant gate. To unlock it, climb the left wall and move the switch counterclockwise until there is enough space for you to crawl through.

Half of the cathedral is covered in water, and to your left, you will find a main hub that requires three switches to be pulled to work; one of them is underwater. For now, follow the right switch cable to find it on the wall, and then pull it to light up the cable.

The Final Switch in The Cathedral.

With the first switch now active, follow the second cable to the second floor. Pull the switch, then continue moving left to find another one to stop the water flow; it will help you to use the final switch and activate the hub. It will unlock the main door that leads to the cathedral Gong. Ring it, and then return to the slab room.

Bathhouse Gong

Bathhouse’s Gate Switch.

Exit the slab room from the door that leads you to the Cathedral Gong, but turn left to find another door. Turn the switch on the door’s right clockwise until the door opens.

Head inside and activate the switch before you. Now, turn right and cross through the waters to find a switch that rotates a platform. Turn it counterclockwise to create a connection between the wires. Return to the middle platform, and move in the opposite direction to find the next switch; turn it in a clockwise direction to open the door before you.

A Secret Relic.

After exiting through the door, look right to find a wire and follow it. Climb up the pillar and activate the switch behind it to find a secret relic. Again, jump down, look left to find a crescent stone, and you will find another switch near it that unlocks a shortcut to the three-switch room.

Return to the switch that you used to create a connection between the wires, and look up to find an entrance. Use the nearby to climb walls, and keep moving upwards to find the next switch to drain all the water inside the bathhouse. Doing so will reveal the final Gong. Ring it, return to the slab room, and get inside the recently-unlocked elevator.

Gecko Gods Great Water Gecko
Completing the Great Water Gecko Objective.

It will take you to the Great Water Gecko Statue and unlock the next section of this archipelago.
