Goblin Vyke: The Thief Tycoon – Part 1 Walkthrough

Goblin Vyke: The Thief Tycoon Walkthrough

Goblin Vyke: The Thief Tycoon is a shop management metroidvania where you play as Vyke, a goblin. Vyke is a thief who steals weapons and items from the dungeon during the night and sells them in his shop to adventurers during the day. With the assistance of the Mask of Greed, you’ll have to help Vyke pay off his father’s debts and become a tycoon.

For more information on the game, please visit its official Steam page here.

Debt And The Mask Of Greed

On Day 1, Lucius Goldleaf will arrive at Grabby’s to talk to Vyke about his father’s debt and about Vyke’s shop. You can either choose to beg or play confidently against him.

Regardless, Lucius Goldleaf will leave, and he’ll make it clear that he’ll visit every 4 days to collect the mortgage. If you’re unable to provide that to Lucius, it will be game over.

After the conversation, the Mask of Greed, hanging in the right half of the shop, calls out to Vyke. The Mask offers advice that Vyke should steal from the dungeon and sell in the shop.

Here, if you choose honesty as your answer, the game will be over right away. You’ll have to choose wealth to proceed with the rest of the game. After that, you can interact with the door to the extreme right of the shop to access the dungeon.

The Spire Buried Underground

As you enter the spire, you’ll find a ladder leading you downward. Keep going down until you encounter a defeated adventurer’s body. There’s a trap before the body, so be careful while walking on it.

You can loot the body and then go down the ladder. You’ll find a door to your right and a sleeping skeleton to your left. The door is locked, but you can steal the key from the skeleton. Once you’re done, open the door and proceed downwards.

If the skeleton wakes up and spots you, you can quickly hide in the bushes nearby. After you go through the door, you’ll find some skeletons patrolling around. You can use the Observe button to see the skeleton’s movement.

Once the skeleton moves away from the ladder, you can go hide in the grass and steal from the skeleton. You can also make the skeleton walk on the trap to the left. You can’t kill the enemies yourself with weapons, but you can use traps to defeat them easily.

Go a little deeper into the spire. You’ll find a floating platform connected to a chain. You can’t get to the other side easily. First, head to the extreme left; there’s a hidden section here where you’ll find a lever. Use the lever to pull the platform up.

You’ll be able to get to the other side then. As you keep going, you’ll find some golden insects crawling on the terrain. You can pick them up and use them to distract the skeletons.

Here, the Mask of Greed will ask you to throw a coinbeetle to distract the skeleton below. Do so, and you’ll be able to take the ladder safely. You can take the other ladder to go and sneak behind the skeleton that you had distracted and steal its belongings.

You’ll find another platform connected to a chain down below. However, this one is blocking the path going deeper into the dungeon. There’s a lever above the platform, but a skeleton is keeping a close watch on it with a lantern.

Here, you have to use the coinbeetle to lure the skeleton under the trap on the platform, and then step on it to defeat it. This will allow you to pull the lever with ease. You can also just go for the lever after distracting the skeleton instead of going for the trap.

When you fall deeper into the dungeon from where the platform was blocking the path, you’ll enter the Cathedral of the Nameless God. There’s a statue here. By now, your inventory should be full. You can interact with the statue to retreat back to the shop and end the night.

First Day In The Shop

Aliya will arrive at the shop to meet the new owner of Grabby’s. Once she goes away, you can start the shop. Every day you’ll have to deal with four customers.

Each customer has different demands. You have to put the required items in the customer’s bag, and then offer a deal or bargain for a price increase.

Bargaining comes with risk. If you don’t get the required rolls, the customer will get angry and will only be willing to pay a reduced price. You have to use your skills to make sure you get the needed numbers on the dice.

Once the shop is closed, the mask will tell you that it can make you stronger if you feed it money. You can then access the mask from the bottom menu bar. The mask can give you some strong skills, such as double jump and mid-air dash.

Upper Cathedral Of The Nameless God

The Cathedral of the Nameless God is a vast area. When you head to the dungeon, you can select your starting point as the upper region of the Cathedral. From here, you’ll have to go right.

These locations hold many secrets, and you’ll have to dive into the dungeon many times to discover all of its secrets. For this run, you’ll have to go right from the statue.

Keep going down until you encounter a ladder. There will be skeletons here. Open the door below and use the trap to defeat the skeletons. You can lure them within range by using coinbeetles.

You’ll also find a mimic below. These mimic chests reduce your maximum HP for the night, but grant you some bonuses. Go left from the mimic until you find a path going deeper. There will be more enemies here.

Once you overcome this area and go further down, you’ll find a faded notice on a board here. If you go a little left, you’ll encounter a lift that can take you back to the top. This run should be enough for the night, so you should take the elevator and get to the statue to end the night.

On Day 2, Bekka will visit the shop, asking for a sword, but she wants it for free, promising to bring a lot of gold for you later from the dungeon. You can choose to give her the sword or not.

Deeper Into The Cathedral

The next night, you can use the same lift to go back down inside the dungeon. If you go a little left, you’ll find a goblin NPC called Miyazaki the Goodman.

He’ll ask if you prefer to be reckless or cautious. I picked the Cautious option, and Miyazaki rewarded me with a Goblin Figurine: Gallywix the Slippery.

Miyazaki the Goodman promises to see you deeper in the dungeon. Just above him, you’ll find a campfire. The area near the campfire resets every day.

You’ll often find wounded or betrayed adventurers here, who can be offered a healing potion. These adventurers will then return to your shop the next day and can be hired. You can also find a group of adventurers simply resting near the campfire, and you can steal their stuff.

Make your way to the notice board deep in the cathedral that you encountered earlier. If you go right, you’ll find a chest with an eye on it. The chest will run away after seeing you. If you go further left, you’ll find an area with many doors.

Open all the doors. There’s also a door at the bottom, and that’s where you’ll find the running chest. Open the door from behind the chest and interact with it.

You’ll get a Golden Leaf; you can give it to the bowl with some hands coming out of it to open the path to another statue. Make sure you use it on the chest before exiting the dungeon for the night; otherwise you will have to find another Golden Leaf.

Take the ladder to the right. This will lead you to a hidden area. You’ll find the prophet skill here. Drop down the ditch, and you’ll end up near a statue. You can then return to the shop.

Orders Incoming

On Day 3, Aliya will come to the shop to order five bows. She’ll need them in three days. After Aliya, Vivi Grin will also arrive at the shop. He wants to learn bargaining, so you’ll have to sell him something and make him pay over 100 gold.

You can also put the collectible that you obtained from Miyazaki the Goodman behind the shop. These collectibles provide passive bonuses.

On your next run in the dungeon, you’ll have to focus on collecting bows for Aliya’s order. You can also avoid selling them to the regular customers for the next three days if you’re short.

First Payment

On Day 4, a little goblin named Dummy will show up in the shop. He’ll ask you to look for his master. He’ll tell you that his master is in the upper region of the cathedral, behind the path with the rolling boulder.

Dummy will give you three days because that’s how long he thinks his master will last in the dungeon without any help. You’ll then receive customers as usual.

After you’re done with the customers, Lucius Goldleaf will arrive to collect his payment. He’ll simply take 250 gold coins from you and will be on his way. You can then dive into the dungeon to explore and gather more resources.
