Gothic 1 Remake: Chapter 3 Walkthrough – Artifacts Of Ancient Power

Gothic 1 Remake Walkthrough

In Gothic 1 Remake, you play as a nameless hero who’s thrown into the barrier where the convicts are sent to mine the ore for the king. Now, you must try to band together with the Colony and bring down this barrier that has been standing for a decade.

A Warder

After you’ve dealt with Baal Lukor and reported what happened to Cor Angar and Cor Kalom, you’ll have to return to the Old Camp.

Thorus will stop you at the castle gate and will promote you to a Warder. He gives you a small quest to gather three diggers and head to the Exchange Zone, where you were first dropped into the barrier.

You’ll then have to talk to three diggers. Each digger has a different requirement, while some will be willing to go with you without anything in return.

Round them up and head for the exchange zone. Just before the exchange zone, you may encounter some bandits from the New Camp. Fight against them and keep going.

As soon as you reach the exchange zone, they’ll be attacked by more bandits. Defeat them all and then return to Thorus to report your success. Once you do that, you’ll be a full-fledged Warder and will be able to get their armor.

The Water Mages’ Plan

You’ll then have to head to the castle and report on everything that happened in the Swamp Camp to Raven. Raven will then ask you to go and find Diego in the market, the place where you often see Fisk and Dexter selling their wares.

Diego asks you to go and see Saturas, and once you’re done, go and meet him at the tower on the eastern edge of the map.

The Water Mages are at the back of the New Camp’s giant cave town. The guards will let you pass once you tell them that the Water Mages are expecting you.

Find Saturas inside, and he’ll talk to you about the Focus Stones. Saturas will ask you to bring all the Focus Stones to him so he can try to blow up the ore pile to break the barrier.

After that, you have to go and see Diego at the marked location. When you reach there, you’ll find a lighthouse. You have to go behind the lighthouse to find Diego, Milten, Lester, and Gorn.

Milten will give you a map with all of the locations for the focus stones marked on it. You’ve already got one near the swamp camp, so you’ll need four more. At each location, you’ll find one of these men to help you out.

The Focus In The Monastery Ruins

The nearest focus stone from the lighthouse is the one inside the Monastery Ruins. When you get there, you’ll find Gorn waiting for you.

He’ll tell you that there might be a secret passage in the ravine below, so you’ll have to follow him there.

When you get to the ravine, you’ll find a room here. It has a ton of mage supplies and scrolls. Look around the room and loot everything. Once you’re done, you can leave the room and head back to the monastery above.

When you get to the monastery’s front gate, you’ll find it locked shut. You can’t climb the walls either. You’ll also find a ton of snappers inside the area.

Here, if you look to your left near the front gate, you’ll find a small hole where the meatbugs are coming out of. You have to use the Transform into Meatbug spell that you found in the chest in the room in the ravine.

Once you’ve turned into a meatbug, head inside the hole and enter the monastery. You’ll have to deal with the nearby snappers before you can open the door.

When you open it, Gorn will decide to stay outside. You can still lure threats near the gate, and Gorn will fight them alongside you.

There are many rooms inside the monastery. One of them will lead you deeper into the area, and you’ll eventually arrive in a tunnel.

Make sure you have at least one Light scroll because of what awaits you here. There will be some snappers in the way, but you’ll eventually reach a room where you’ll encounter the Shadow Beast.

Having a Light spell or scroll can make this fight a lot easier. Once you’ve defeated the Shadow Beast, you’ll be able to reach the area with the Focus Stone.

Take the stone and return to the main square of the Monastery. However, when you get there, you’ll find out that a Juvenile Troll has appeared.

You can lead it to Gorn, and you’ll be able to fight it with ease. It is much easier to defeat the Shadow Beast compared to the Juvenile Troll because Gorn can help you out. After making it out alive of the Monastery, you can move on to the other Focus Stones.

The Focus In The Troll Canyon

Troll Canyon is in the northern part of the Colony. When you get there, you’ll find Milten. As you enter Troll Canyon, you’ll find some goblins in the way.

Once you’re finally inside, you’ll find a fully grown troll roaming around in the area. Now, Milten will ask you to move to cover first. You’ll have to follow him to a safe space.

Milten suggests using a Shrink Monster spell to deal with the troll, but for that, you’ll need to get its fur. Milten will remain in the room, while you’ll have to go and look for the fur.

Furthermore, there are many goblins inside the area, and the troll doesn’t seem to mind them. However, you’ll have to pick them off quickly without catching the troll’s attention.

You’ll find a total of three skin patches. Once you’re done, return to Milten, and he’ll craft a scroll of Shrink Monster for you.

Now, you’ll have to head out in the open and use the scroll on the troll. Once you’ve done so, you’ll be able to fight against it with Milten.

After defeating the troll, head to the entrance of the area. It has two levers, so one will be pulled by Milten, while you can pull the other one.

You’ll find a chest in the area with the Telekinesis rune and scrolls. Keep going deeper, and you’ll eventually arrive near the Focus Stone, but it’s guarded by some harpies.

Once you’ve cleared the area, head to the Focus Stone. You’ll find a gap between you and the Focus Stone. Here, you can use the Telekinesis spell on the blue ore poking out of the bridge to pull it towards you.

After the bridge is complete, you can walk over and pick the Focus Stone. You can then talk to Milten and be on your way to the next stone.

The Focus Below The Stone Circle

One of the Focus Stones is inside the Orc Territories. When you reach the area, you’ll find Diego here. Follow Diego, and he’ll lead you to a nearby area where you’ll find four thin pillars.

Use a torch to light up the four pillars, and a hidden path will open. As you light them up, some skeletons will be summoned. Defeat them, and a path will open.

Enter the newly opened cave and keep going deeper. You’ll eventually arrive in a room where there will be a zombie, and some skeletons will keep being summoned.

Now, you cannot directly deal damage to this zombie. Instead, you’ll have to strike the three blue icons on the wall, and make sure the zombie is in the middle of the area when you strike the last one.

This will cause some lightning to fall into the centre of the area. If the zombie comes in contact with the lightning, it will take some damage.

You have to keep doing this repeatedly until the zombie’s HP reaches zero.

Once the zombie is defeated, you’ll be able to take the Focus Stone from it. Diego will then tell you that he’s going to stay behind, and he also warns you about Gomez.

The Focus At The Mountain Fortress

You can get there by going in the opposite direction of the bridge leading to the Orc Graveyard. You’ll find Lester here.

You’ll see a stone golem guarding the bridge. Lester will ask you to equip a blunt weapon, as edge weapons don’t do any damage to a stone golem.

Once you’ve defeated the golem, keep going up the mountain. You’ll eventually find some harpies. After that, enter the fortress.

You have to keep going up until you arrive in a library. Some marks show there’s a secret passageway behind the fireplace.

Three of the shelves have books that you can interact with. First, you have to pull the book from the Swampshark shelf, which is to the right of the fireplace.

Then, you have to pull the book from the wolf shelf. Last, you have to pull the book out of the molerat shelf. This will cause the path behind the fireplace to open.

This will open the path ahead. You’ll then have to keep going deeper, and you’ll eventually come out of the tower with the Focus Stone in sight.

There will be a lot of harpies in the area. Once you’ve picked up the focus stone, return to Lester to report your success. If it’s your last Focus Stone, you can then head to Saturas to give them to him.

Rewards For The Focus Stones

After you’ve acquired all the Focus Stones and have given them to Saturas, he’ll ask you to get your reward from Cronos and Riordian.

Cronos can be found above the ore pile in the New Camp. For Riordian, you’ll have to look for him in the Blue Mages’ place. Riordian is often at the alchemy table.

If you return to Saturas, he’ll ask you to head to the Fire Mages to ask for their help in channeling the magic produced through the ore pile blast.

You’ll then have to return to the Old Camp. Enter the castle area, but Thorus will stop you and tell you to keep your head low and avoid Gomez’s castle.

Massacre

When you enter the area, you’ll find all of the Fire Mages standing outside of their building. If you talk to Corristo, he’ll refuse to help initially, but he can be easily persuaded.

Corristo then asks you to head out with Milten through the secret path, since the tensions are high in the castle area.

As you’re following Milten, Corristo will come out unhappy from Gomez’s castle. Shortly after, Gomez will appear and get rid of all the fire mages.

Milten is heavily shaken, but he still leads you out through the secret passage, promising to meet you later at the Water Mages’ place.

Note that the Old Camp becomes inaccessible for a short while at this point in the story. You can also no longer deal with the merchants inside these regions, so it’s best to get everything you need by this point.

Return to Saturas, and he’ll tell you about the 13th mage, the former leader of the Fire Mages, Xardas.
