Chapter 2: Town of Milldread
On arriving in the Town of Milldread, go north and you’ll find your way blocked by one Saul. Saul is intent on conducting a blood sacrifice of Ol’ Bloom to restore the harvest, and this chapter’s goal is to stop him.
First, however, we need to get Saul to clear the way. Saul is convinced he’s very smooth.
Check out the white dog “Rodney” near him, and keep talking to Rodney until it says “ROUGHFFF!!!”. Grab this line of dialog.
Shoot it at Saul to clear the way.
Now go up to Ol’ Bloom, who’s in the middle of town, and he’ll advise you to talk to the local god Cobigail in the schoolhouse.
The schoolhouse is to the west of where you were blocked by Saul – but the schoolhouse itself is blocked by vines that you can’t suck.
Talk to the schoolteacher Pollina near the schoolhouse and grab the dialog “WON’T SOMEONE SMASH THE SCHOOL DOOR WITH THE HEAVIEST THING THEY GOT???”.
Now go back to where Ol’ Bloom is and then go east to find a building you can enter.
This is Bayker’s Bakery, where you’ll find Bayker. Shoot Pollina’s line at them to find that their prize pumpkin is an apt candidate for clearing the vines.
However, Bayker won’t give it up without having a substitute gift for Goody. Head back out of the bakery now.
Return to the initial area of Milldread, located before you got Saul to clear the way. You’ll find Goody here, near the outhouse.
Talk to her and grab the dialog “Like for example, what if they had edible lipstick?”
Return to Bayker and shoot Goody’s dialog at them.
When the lipstick pie is ready, suck it up and take it to Goody. Shoot the lipstick pie at Goody and grab the dialog “Oh Bayker… I LOVE IT!”.
Once again, return to Bayker in their bakery and shoot the dialog at them.
You can now grab the Pappy Pumpkin, so suck it up with your Megapon and head over to the schoolhouse, where you can shoot the pumpkin at the vines to clear the way.

Head into the schoolhouse and then break the bookshelf blocking your way by sucking it up with your Megapon.
Go into the next door to finally meet Cobigail. When she asks you to do a small favor, say yes. She’ll task you with finding out why King calls her a blood drinker, and also finding her something to eat.
Later, grab the dialog “BOO!”, as we’ll need it in a bit.
Exit the schoolhouse now and return to the center of Milldread. Go northwest from where Ol’ Bloom is to find Bronch the scarecrow.
Bronch is ready to clear the way if you can restore their crows to them. To do this, you must look for rustling brush with black feathers popping out. Then, use the dialog “BOO!” on it to scare the crow out.
Grab both the crow and the dialog and repeat this two more times elsewhere in Milldread.
You’ll find your first crow just southwest of where Bronch is. Grab it as explained above and shoot it at Bronch.
There’s another crow near the exit of the town, to the northeast of Ol’ Bloom.
You’ll find the third crow just south of the schoolhouse.
Once you’ve delivered all three crows to Bronch, head through the cleared doorway into Bloom’s Cata-Home.
Go south and a bit east to find Budd. Talk to him to learn that he won’t talk to you unless you promise you’re not a friend of Saul’s.
Go east from here, past the tree, to find an exit to the Bakery, which will make life more convenient for you.
Get the “I thwear it on my life!!” dialog from Bayker and use it on Budd, you’ll learn that he specifically wants you to insult Saul.
Unfortunately, almost everyone in town has only nice things to say about Saul.
Now go back out to town and talk to Saul, you’ll standing to the south of the schoolhouse.
Grab the line “I… HATE that shaggy little man!” and take it to Budd.
Shoot Saul’s own line at Budd to convince him that you’re no friend of Saul’s.
You’ll learn from Budd that the town would sing a special song together back in the day at the crops. There’s only one tree left now, which is the one to the east of Budd.
There are four lines to the song, and Budd knows one of them, so grab that line of the song: “The snacks are made of friendliness; the drinks are filled with glee.”
He will suggest talking to a music teacher, so head out of Budd’s by going north. Once out, you’ll learn that the kids are playing “hide-and-peek”.
Each of the three kids knows a line of the song, so we’ll have to find them first.
Frenke can be found just east of the school teacher Pollina. Talk to him and grab the song lyric from him.
You’ll find Brink to the east of Bayker’s Bakery, hiding behind a pig. Talk to them and grab the line they sing.
Finally, you’ll find Tripp peeking out from behind the outhouse near where you started this chapter. Talk to them and get their line too.
You now have all four lines for the song, but you have no idea what order they go in. For this, we’ll need to find a music teacher who does remember the order of the song – and that would be Cobigail herself.
Head back to the schoolhouse and enter Cobigail’s clearing. Use any of the song lyrics on her.
Cobigail will tell you the correct order of the lyrics: first, the autumn evening; second, the delicious feast; third, the songs of Milldread. Although Cobigail does not remember the final line, it’s obvious that the remaining line is the last one.
Once you head out back to town, go back to the Cata-Home, where Budd is. Go east from Budd to find the only remaining tree in Milldread.
Here, you need to shoot the four lines in order at the tree before the timer runs out. If you get it wrong, all four lines will bounce off for you to pick up again.
The four lines must go in this order:
- A bonfire in the evening breeze…
- The snacks are made of friendliness…
- Join your hands with anyone…
- Our differences will bring us close…
Once you get it right, you’ll get the Milldread Berry from the tree. Suck it up and head back out to town.
The ritual is getting underway, so return to Cobigail via the schoolhouse. Shoot the berry at her to learn that Ol’ Bloom used to make jam out of the milldreadberries.
Grab this line from Cobigail and once the conversation ends, head out of the schoolhouse.
Rush to Bayker’s Bakery and shoot Cobigail’s line at Bayker to remind them of the old days.
When Bayker requests it, shoot the berry at them. After the conversation that follows, grab the milldreadberry jam and head back out.
Shoot the Milldreadberry jam at Saul.
After the sequence that follows, head back to the schoolhouse and talk to Cobigail. She’ll instruct you to go through HobbyHoo, so that’s our next destination.
With the town of Milldread back to normal now, go to the absolute north of town, past where the vines were blocking the way.
You’ll find another Inspekta bar gate here – pass through it by emptying your inventory.
Before we get to HobbyHoo though, we’ll meet Capochin and the Bizzyboys.
This is a ‘battle’ segment. Simply suck up the pumpkins and launch them at the Bizzyboys attacking you.
One hit will knock out each of the Bizzyboys, after which Capochin will send out the ‘Armored Division’, which is Gr.
Grab a pumpkin and shoot it at Gr, then quickly grab his dialog “mmmphWORTHLESS mphIDIOT!”. Use this line on Gr himself to demoralize him and end the battle.
Head into the van to return to the God Complex. Talk to Inspekta and once you finish the conversation, head through the cleared way that was previously blocked by the van.
This takes you to Downtown HobbyHoo, which we will cover in the next part of this walkthrough of Great God Grove.
