Chapter 3: Downtown HobbyHoo

In this part of the walkthrough for Great God Grove, we’ll cover the entirety of Chapter 3, which is set in HobbyHoo.

Once you arrive in Downtown HobbyHoo, go west and through the broken bus to get to a stage.

After the sequence at the stage, go to the far south to find a band and learn about their woes.

As you can see, the band is uninspired and the TV show  “Oh Partner Mine” is afflicted by a terrible script. We’ll have to fix that to proceed, because the way to BuzzHuzz is blocked by one very bored and tired Gatesy.

But first, let’s meet the local gods.

Go back to the stage now and go north from the path to the left of the stage.

Enter the tent here to be transported to Thespius’s Cloud. While talking to Thespius, grab the line “But we must keep creating. Heartfelt art starts with US!”.

After you’re done conversing with Thespius, go back to the band and shoot the line you got from Thespius onto the lead vocalist of the band, Sunny.

Now that the band is inspired, the TV show cast can do some rehearsals in Happy or Sad moods. Of course, they’re still lacking one of the show’s key actors, Styella.

Before we do anything about Styella though, let’s try meeting the other god of HobbyHoo: Click Clack.

Go to the far west from the stage and you’ll find another broken bus, which leads us to the area where we’ll find Click Clack.

This bus is blocked for now, but talk to the busker performing in the area, named Kondle.

Great God Grove walkthrough

Kondle is concerned about being too weird to be liked as a performer. So we’ll need to give them some encouraging words.

Go back to the stage now and use the lever to the west of the stage by using your Megapon on it. If you slide it to the left, you’ll set a sad mood, and if you slide it to the right, you’ll set a happy mood.

Either mood has unique dialog that you can get from the actors on stage (Byella and Feldly so far).

For now, set the lighting to the right, i.e. happy mood. Talk to Byella here to get the line “Your personal flair makes your art so special!”.

Return to the busker and shoot that line from Byella in their face.

This clears the way west, so go through the broken bus and you’ll find Styella, who’s being mobbed by the Bizzyboys.

For now, leave her be and go through the double-doors to her east.

You’ve entered Clicky Tower, where you should find Click Clack… if it weren’t for Jake’m and Poolgirl Georgia blocking the way.

You need to resolve their confusion, so return to the stage now and set the lighting to sad mood.

Talk to Byella again and grab the line “How did this partnership go so wrong?”.

Return to Clicky Tower and shoot the line at either Jake’m or Poolgirl Georgia.

With the sofa situation resolved, you can now go through the elevator to reach HobbyHoo Studio, where Click Clack resides.

You’ll learn from Click Clack that he was responsible for cutting the romantic angle from the TV show in a bid for greater appeal and popularity. In doing so, however, he has made the show too boring for anyone.

We have a few tasks ahead of us to make the TV show a success, first of which involves bringing Styella back to the stage.

Upon exiting Clicky Tower, talk to the busker Kondle, who’s just to the east of the tower. If we can get Kondle’s performance to be a success, the Bizzyboys will leave Styella alone and flock to Kondle instead.

Return to the stage and keeping it in sad mood, talk to Feldly. Grab the line “Whoof. I think it’s time for some editing.”

Return to Kondle and use Feldly’s line on them. Grab the line “HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO EDIT THIS ACT???” from them.

Go back into Clicky Tower and to HobbyHoo Studio. Here, shoot Kondle’s line at Click Clack.

Grab the line “Editing’s about keepin’ the best stuff and cutting ALL the rest.” from Click Clack.

Shoot this line at Kondle once you’re back out of Clicky Tower. This frees up Styella, so go over to her and talk to her.

Styella won’t return to rehearsal without a pretty dress with lots of patterns on it. Grab the line “Please!!! I need that dress!!!” from her.

Now return to the grassy area and talk to Byoolah, who’s standing to the west of the stage’s lighting controls.

Shoot Styella’s line at her and you’ll learn that she’ll only give up the dress if someone very handsome requested it.

That someone handsome is Thespius, so re-enter his tent up north.

Shoot Styella’s line at him and grab the line “…WE NEED A CHARMIN’ GOWN WITH LOTSA PATTERNS!”.

Use this line on Byoolah to get Byoolah’s patterned dress.

Head back to Styellah and shoot the dress onto her, which will get her going back to the stage.

Return to the stage and talk to Styella once. Then, talk to Hersha and you’ll learn that you need to recover the romantic lighting bulb to set a romantic mood for the scene.

While talking to Hersha, grab the line “If we had that purple bulb we could really spice up our show!”.

To find this purple bulb in question, we’ll have to get into the club on the street, which is guarded by a sleeping bouncer.

First, talk to Styella on stage while the lighting is set to a sad mood. Grab the line “I cain’t take it- OPEN YOAH EYES!!!”.

Now go west to return to the street and go north to find the sleepy bouncer, Babua Jon. Shoot Styella’s line at him to get him to open his eyes.

This opens the way to Soul Cricket club, where you’ll find the purple light in question. Talk to the bartender Patience here to learn that she’s hosting a speed dating event, and won’t give up the light until the event concludes.

To help her out, you’ll have to play matchmaker. Use the line you got from Hersha (“If we had that purple bulb…”) on Patience.

Patience will appoint you as matchmaker, which means that you have to find a match for each of the three singles in the club.

You have to do these in order, so first talk to Robart in the northwest corner of the club.

Grab Robart’s line, “I need a big beefcake kinda guy!” and exit the club.

Shoot this line at Babua Jon, who’s right outside the club. Grab Babua Jon’s response and shoot it at Robart back in the club, which solves his dating story.

Next, talk to Sheela, who is to the south of Robart. Grab her line, “I need a busy cutie who never has time for me.”

The right match for Sheela is Hersha, over at the stage, who has been so busy, she hasn’t slept for a whole calendar week.

Shoot Sheela’s line at Hersha to get her response. Grab the response and take it back to the club, then shoot it at Sheela to resolve that dating story.

Our final single is Mina Fina, who is to the north of Sheela and east of Robart. Grab her line “GIMME A BOOKISH BOY WITH A BIG SQUISHY CUDDLE-BODY!”.

Her ideal match is none other than Click Clack himself, so return to HobbyHoo Studio in Clicky Tower and shoot the line at Click Clack.

Grab Click Clack’s response, take it back to the club, and shoot it at Mina Fina.

With all three singles accounted for, talk to Patience again. She now needs a match for herself – someone who’s a good listener. That would be you!

You don’t need to grab her line. Head out of the club and return to the stage. Set the lighting to happy mood and talk to Styella to get her line “It jewst makes me smile to spend time with yew.”

Return to Patience and shoot that line at her.

You can now grab the purple bulb once it’s turned off.

Head back to the stage, and shoot the bulb to the position between the sad and happy bulbs.

Drag the lever to the middle position now to set a romantic mood.

Great God Grove walkthrough

As you’ll learn from Hersha though, the script is still very dry and you’re going to need a new one from Click Clack to properly save the show.

While keeping the lighting at romantic mood, talk to both Byella and Styella and grab their lines “What’s important isn’t the spotlight!” and “It’s obviously YEW!!!”.

Now return to Click Clack via Clicky Tower and use the line “What’s important isn’t the spotlight!” on him. Then, when he asks if Oh Partner Mine is about fame, say no.

When he asks what it is really about, shoot the line “It’s obviously YEW!!!”.

When Click Clack asks if he made a mistake, say yes. Then, when he asks if he’s ruined the relationship permanently, say no. Then say yes to him asking if there’s still time.

Once you’re out of the conversation, grab the new script for the show and take it back to the stage. Shoot it at Hersha.

When she asks you to take a seat, go south of the stage and sit on the rug with pillows around it.

Once the show is over, Gatesy will be happy with it and let you pass. Before you do, however, you should get yourself apprised of the situation ahead by talking to Thespius and Click Clack again.

When you’re ready to leave, go north past Gatesy.

Before we reach Chapter 4, we’re going to have to dispose of your Megapon inventory and then fight another battle with the Bizzyboys.

Keep going north to begin the battle.

This time around, P is well-protected by a bucket, so you’re going to have to talk your way out of this.

First, look for a coin thrown by the Bizzyboys and suck it up with your Megapon.

Then, go east and shoot the coin into the King machine. Grab the King’s first line, “It’s okay! You can talk to me!”, and shoot it at P while he’s chasing you.

Repeat this process, but on the second go, grab the line “You’ve got nothing to be afraid of!”. Shoot it at P to progress in the battle.

On the third go, grab and use the line “So stand up for yourself!”.

Once the battle is over, enter the van to meet with Inspekta again. Once you’re done conversing, go north past the cleared way to conclude this chapter.

You’ll then find yourself in BuzzHuzz Plaza, which we’ll cover in the next part of this walkthrough of Great God Grove.
