Reaching the Sword Side Surrogate

Speak with Yr’Dunal and talk to him about Quadblade. He’ll tell you of an offering that requires two Penspears and defeating two Greatblades.

Continue past the NPC and drop down through the platform up ahead.

Head left, and you’ll spot a jump pad above you on the wall. Use the jump pad to grapple through a spike on the ceiling.

You’ll be able to fight a Galloping Dropot here for a container.

Drop back through the hole to return to the earlier room. Go left and down. You’ll spot a breakable wall on your right and a breakable floor on the left.

Open both paths and then take the right path. Continue heading down. You’ll soon reach a fork where you see a path heading left above you.

Keep going down and follow the path to reach the Sword Side Surrogate.
Activating the First Seal & Unlocking the Blade Garden Map

After activating the Surrogate, start backtracking to the area where you unlocked both paths. If you head down and left, you’ll reach a jump pad. This is an important location, and we’ll return here again after defeating an area boss. So make sure you remember the way.

Drop off the left side platform from the jump pad and continue left. You’ll reach another hole with red spikes on the wall. Jump through again but make sure you grab the wall on the right as you fall.

There’s a jump pad below that you can use to reach safe ground on the left.

Continue following the path downward. You’l have to fight an enemy in the lower floor.

Take it down. Then use Burst Jump and Grasphook to get past the next platforming section.

As you fall through another hole, you’ll have to grapple through a spike to fight another enemy.

Head left and down again to drop into a chamber with a few enemies for you to fight.

Take out the enemies and head right. Go to the upper section using the jump pad.

Drop down on the right and use the jump pad and Grasphook to move forward.

Take out the enemies once you make it across and go up.

You’ll soon reach an area where you see some jump pads above you.

Head right from here to find the first Seal. Activate it to unlock the map of the zone.
Unlocking the Sword Side Shortcut & Reaching the Impaled Longblade Boss Arena

There’s a path left of the Seal that’s heading down. This leads to a breakable wall that we’ll unlock much later. For now, keep going left and use the jump pad to head up.

Take out the enemy on the upper floor and use the spikes to head to the floor above you. There will be some more enemies here that you’ll have to fight.

Go right and then up again. You’ll see a path heading right. This leads to the boss arena. But for now, keep heading up using the wall.

Follow the path to reach a breakable wall. Attack it to unlock a shortcut back to the Sword Side Surrogate.

Drop down on the right and take the path you saw just now. You’ll spot an NPC up ahead. You can speak with them for some additional lore on the boss that you’re about to fight.

Continue heading right and grapple through the spike to enter the boss arena. You’ll have to fight two normal enemies first.

Once they are defeated, the real boss fight begins.
How to Beat the Impaled Longblade

Impaled Longblade is one of the two major bosses in Blade Garden. You must defeat the boss to find the two Penspears needed for the Quadblade offering.
The fight begins with the boss slamming the arena with his huge sword, creating a shockwave that travels along the ground. You can get a jump attack to deal some damage to the boss as he does this attack.

The first thing you’ll notice is that the boss has a green mark on their health bar. When the boss’s HP is above this threshold, parrying their attack will cause you to take damage. So it’s best to rely on dodge rather than parry for this fight, at least during the early phase.

Thankfully, most of their attacks are easy to dodge. The boss has a slam attack after which a few swords are impaled on the ground.
When the boss pulls out its weapon, the swords also float in the air. After a brief delay, these swords will fly toward you. But you can parry them to send them flying back at the boss to deal damage.

Other than this, the fight is pretty straightforward. Focus on dodging through the boss and getting behind them. Use your special attacks to eat big chunks of their health bar, and eventually the boss will go down.

Defeating the boss will grant you a Hunt Pigment.

After beating the Impaled Longblade, head right, and you’ll spot a spike that you can grapple through above you on the right.

This will lead you to a chamber where you can find the Mammoth Axe, a very powerful weapon for strength builds. Pick it up and then return to the Sword Side Surrogate.
How to Get the Sword Greatblade Torso

After defeating the Impaled Longblade, head back to the jump pad near the two breakable walls above you. It’s the place where we started when we were hunting down the first Seal of the zone.
Head left while sticking to the upper path. Jump across the gap and grapple through the spike on the left.

Take down the enemy and continue heading left and up.

Drop off the ledge up ahead to fight two more enemies.

You’ll notice a path heading down on the left. This will lead you to a Bloodroot Shard. When you’re ready, grapple the spike above you to continue forward.

There’s a ladder on the upper floor. You can use the ladder to get to the Depth Traversal Door that takes you back to Nailglade. Continue left instead of going up.

As you drop off the ledge to the left, you’ll have to fight a big enemy. Take it down to get a Hunt Pigment and the Sword Greatblade Torso. This is one of the items you’ll need for the offering.
Activating the Second Seal & Unlocking Area Warp

Grapple to the platform above you to the left and take out the enemy here. Then jump to the left and use Grasphook on the spike to head down.

You’ll have to use Grasphook again to reach the floor below safely. Take down the enemies waiting on the other side of the spike.

Go left and fall off the ledge to the lower floor. You’ll find the second Seal here. Activate it to unlock Area Warp for Blade Garden.
How to Get the Two Penspears

From the Seal, continue heading right along the path. Use Grasphook to fall through the spike to the floor below. Take out the enemies here.

Continue heading left until you reach a spiked vine. Use Grasphook to get past it.

There will be some more enemies here. Take them down and go to the lower section.

There’s a path to your right, but you’ll want to go left first. Drop off the ledge. Then drop down the narrow hole again.

Go left and grapple past the spike to find Ver waiting near a fallen Bladebeast.

Speak with her and run through the dialogue. Since you’ve already defeated both the Blade Mammoth and Impaled Longblade, you’ll get two Penspears after the conversation. Remember to interact with them afterward to pick them up.

After picking up the Penspears, head right and drop through the platform.

The Quadblade Arena Surrogate will be on the right. Activate it to save your progress.
How to Get the Axe Greatblade Torso

From here, continue heading left. We’ll have to backtrack a bit to get the second Greatblade Torso for the offering.

Go all the way to the left and climb up the platforms.

Head left again and scale up the left-side wall. Grapple through the spike above you and take out the enemies on the upper floor.

Go left again. Use Burst Jump to reach the ledge above you. Then keep heading left and jump across the spike pit. Use Grasphook on the Spike to reach the platform with two enemies. Take them down.

From here, you’ll have to head up. Use Grasphook on the spike above you and complete the short platforming section.

You’ll land right in front of the Axe Greatblade. Take it down to collect the Axe Greatblade Torso.
Reaching the Quadblade Arena

Now that you’ve gathered all the materials for the ritual, return to the Quadblade Arena Surrogate. From there, keep heading right and downward until you reach a large red vine with a spiked wall on the other side.

Use Burst Jump to launch yourself upward and dash through the vine to grab the ledge just above the spikes.

Continue going right, dashing through another red vine along the way. Drop off the ledge on the far right.

Use the jump pad below to launch yourself to the left and dash through another vine.

Continue left to fight some more enemies. There’s another big enemy here that gives you a Hunt Pigment.

Go all the way to the left and drop through the hole.

Head right until you reach a section full of spikes. Parkour across this area to drop down to a large chamber below.

From here, go all the way to the right. You’ll reach a ledge. Use the jump pad below to get across the spike pit.

Use Burst Jump and use the jump pads to go up.

Take out the enemy on the upper floor and use the jump pad to reach the upper floor. There’s a spike just above you that you can grapple.

Fight past the enemies here and keep going right. Drop off the ledge to the right.

From here, go right and drop down again. Use the jump pad below to launch yourself to the right and get past the short parkour section.

You’ll reach another area with some enemies. Take them down.

Head all the way to the right. Scale the wall and use Grasphook on the spike above you to reach the upper floor.

Once on the upper floor, go left first and climb to the ledge above you.

You’ll find the Axe Side Surrogate up ahead. Activate it and save your progress.

Head right and drop back down. Continue going right. You’ll see a group of Bladebeasts huddled up ahead. There’s a path above them that you can take to unlock a shortcut.

Keep going past the Bladebeasts, and you’ll drop down to a large room. This is the Quadblade Arena.
Now that you’ve gathered all the offerings for the ritual, interact with the two glowing spots in the arena to place them and summon the Quadblade.
How to Beat the Quadblade

The Quadblade is the final boss of the Blade Garden area. This is a mandatory boss that holds one of the three components required for Yr’Gog’s weapon.
Unlike the previous bosses, the Quadblade presents a significant challenge because of its erratic moveset and combos. But if you’ve got an upgraded weapon and learn the parry and dodge timings, the fight becomes a lot easier.

The main attack you’ll want to watch out for is when it leaps into the air and dives face down into the arena. In addition to dealing damage around the point of impact, this attack also creates a delayed shockwave that you need to jump over to avoid taking damage.

In most cases, you’ll want to position yourself behind the Quadblade and parry its normal attacks. It has a dash attack that you can counter using a dash to stagger the boss.

When you get the boss’s health bar down to about half, it pulls out two of the blades on its face. This marks the start of the second phase.

During the second phase, the boss becomes a lot more aggressive, using his sword to attack you while also creating shockwaves. But the strategy remains the same. Try to stay behind the boss and focus on defense. Only attack when you have a clear opening.
The boss gains a leap attack that you can counter using your Grasphook. You’ll get an opening to hit its back if you manage to dash under it to the other side as it lands.

Another good opening is when the boss whirls its swords in front of it. If you manage to get behind it, you can easily land one or two hits without interruption.

When its health bar is close to zero, it will drop its sword. Don’t let up and keep attacking it until the fight ends.

You’ll get the Quadrant Blade as a reward for defeating the boss. Absorb the Mold afterward to increase your Breath Capacity.
