Activating the First Seal and Unlocking the Map

Grime II walkthrough

After defeating Anvilhead, work your way back to the Nailglade Town Outskirts Surrogate that you unlocked previously. You’ll have to use the tunnels below the Dregbourg Entrance Surrogate to reach the location.

Grime II walkthrough

From here, if we head right, we’ll run into a dead-end. So go left from the Surrogate until you spot a grapple point above you.

Grime II walkthrough

These grapple points are different from the ones you’ve used so far. After using Grasphook, a stone pillar emerges with a blade at its apex, where you can use Grasphook to launch yourself across. You’ll see a lot more of these grapple points in the areas ahead.

Make your way up using the grapple point and start going right. There will be another one of these grapple points above you. Grapple upward and dash to the right to land on a safe spot past the spikes. Then climb to the ledge above you.

Grime II walkthrough

Take out the Nailglade Patrol enemy on the upper floor and keep going right.

Grime II walkthrough

You’ll see a platform you can fall through. Use the grapple point above you, in the spikes, instead to go to the upper floor.

Grime II walkthrough

Use Grasphook on the purple item stuck on the ceiling to make it fall to the ground. Interact with it to collect the Nailglade Fighter Chest.

Grime II walkthrough

Run to the edge on the right. There’s a grapple point above you that you can reach if you jump and dash to the right. But before you use that, drop down to the area below.

Grime II walkthrough

Take out the Meekpalm and grab the Atriums.

Grime II walkthrough

Then head left and grab the Thin Marah Strand below you.

Grime II walkthrough

Follow the path below to loop back to an earlier area. If you took the lower path, this is where you would end up.

Grime II walkthrough

Go back to the place where you dropped down from, and this time, use the grapple point to head higher.

Grime II walkthrough

You’ll have to fight another Meekpalm up ahead. Take it down and jump to the platform above you.

Grime II walkthrough

This will bring you to a short parkour section where you have to make your way past spiked floors and walls using the Grasphook.

Grime II walkthrough

After getting past the first section, you’ll land in an area where you need to fight two more enemies. Take them down.

Grime II walkthrough

Go left and drop down through the small platform first to grab the Nailglade Fighter Legs.

Grime II walkthrough

Return to the previous chamber and continue heading left past the obstacles.

Grime II walkthrough

You’ll eventually see a Bloodroot Splinter that you can collect. From here, before you head right, use the grapple point above you to complete another parkour challenge.

Grime II walkthrough

At the end of this parkour section, you’ll find the Nailglade Fighter Hands, the final piece needed to complete the set.

Grime II walkthrough

You can fall from the left to return to the earlier section. Continue heading right until you encounter two more Nailguard Patrols.

Take them down and go forward to spot a stone pillar blocking your path. Jump to the pillar and then quickly jump back. The pillar will slowly sink into the spike.

Grime II walkthrough

Cross the spiked section until you drop down to a room. Pick up the Fragments on the right, then start going left.

As you dash through a wall on the left, you’ll land on a stone pillar. You have to descend now, ensuring you don’t get hit by the spikes on the sides and on the pillars below.

Grime II walkthrough

Go right and start heading down through the platform to find the first Seal of the zone. Break the wall on the left to unlock a shortcut back to the Surrogate.

Grime II walkthrough

When you’re ready, return to the Seal and then head right. You’ll drop into a chamber where you’ll have to fight a boss.

How to Beat Twinpalm

Grime II walkthrough

Twinpalm guards the path to the town in Nailglades and takes the appearance of a Meekpalm when you first encounter it. It doesn’t have a boss’s health bar when you start the fight. However, once you take it down in its weak form, the health bar appears at the bottom of the screen.

The boss isn’t too difficult and has a relatively simple set of attacks that are easy to dodge and parry. It has three distinct phases. In the first phase, it doesn’t have much health and doesn’t have a health bar at all.

Grime II walkthrough

In the second phase, the boss becomes a lot more aggressive. The boss will start flailing at you with its long-reaching claws and can also cause a stone pillar to erupt from the ground, dealing damage. You’ll always see a danger sign on the floor of the arena where the stone pillars will appear, giving you plenty of time to dodge away.

Grime II walkthrough

The boss has a three-hit combo that you can parry. The third attack of this move can be grasp-countered to stagger the boss, giving you a clear opening to attack.

Grime II walkthrough

When you manage to bring the boss’s healtbar close to zero, it heals up to full, and the third phase begins. The boss becomes even more aggressive and gains a new set of attacks. However, the main strategy of the fight remains the same.

Grime II walkthrough

You’ll want to position yourself behind the boss as much as possible. If you see a danger mark on the ground, focus on getting away to safety instead of trying to squeeze in a few extra hits. This fight is a test of patience and positioning. Trying to brute force your way through victory isn’t a great idea.

Grime II walkthrough

Once you defeat the boss, absorb its Mold to unlock an additional Mold Set.

Entering the Nailglade Town

Grime II walkthrough

After defeating Twinpalm, go right and use Burst Jump to reach the grapple point above the spikes on the right. Get on the upper floor on the right.

Speak with Mayor Yadig, waiting for you on the upper floor. Run through the dialogue, and he’ll welcome you to the town.

Continue heading right, and you’ll soon see the buildings and structures of the town. You can only explore the western side of Nailglade for now. The eastern part is blocked off.

You’ll find Uvid standing up ahead. Speak with him, and he’ll tell you about some more tables running rampant.

There’s a grapple point above you, near Uvid. Use it to reach the upper platform.

You’ll find Ezba, another NPC, standing outside a building. Speak with him to learn about the other Great Formless.

Head right and jump up using the floating platforms to reach a breakable wall. You can break it, but there’s another wall on the right that you can’t break.

Drop down all the way to the bottom. You’ll find Rakik standing at the center of the town. There’s a path heading down just before them.

Rakik will tell you more about the “Table Revolt” and hand you the Workshop Key.

You can now head downward to proceed with the main campaign. But we’re going to explore the western part of Nailglade before we move on. There is a Surrogate below you that you can unlock if you’re low on health.

Exploring the Western Part of Nailglade Town

After speaking with Rakik, head all the way to the right until you see two platforms leading up.

Instead of going up, dash into the small opening on the wall on your right.

Continue forward to fight a Galloping Dropot Runner.

Take it down and grab the Thin Marah Strand above you. Then go back outside.

Go up the two platforms to reach another breakable wall.

Continue forward, past the wall, to spot another Thin Marah Strand.

Burst Jump to the platform on the right, and you’ll see a jump orb. You need to dash into it from a direction to get launched upward.

First dash into it from the left. You’ll be able to pull down a pillar above you to the left. Pull it down and use it to climb up.

On the upper floor, you’ll see another jump orb near a spike wall. Ignore it for now and head up the wall on your left.

Take out the Nailglade Fighter. On your left marks the start of a long and difficult parkour segment.

If you manage to complete the platforming section, you’ll pick up the first Third of Flesh item. There are three total Third of Flesh in the game. If you find all three, you’ll unlock a new optional ability that lets you pull items using your Grasphook.

Whether you complete the parkour section or not, you’ll end up back at the jump orb that you saw on the right. Use it to head up to the ledge above you.

Touch the stone pillar on the right and wait for it to go down.

Head to the chamber on the right and take out the three enemies.

Jump up to the platform on the right. Stand on the left edge of the platform and use Grasphook to pull down the pillar above you. There are spikes at the bottom.

Use Burst Jump to go up and grab the side of the pillar. Then jump to the glowing stone and use it to reach the wall on the left.

Go all the way to the top. Take out the two enemies here and pick up the Nailglade Scout Hands. There’s also a Bloodroot Shard that you can collect here.

Drop down to the platform from earlier and use the jump pad on the right. This leads to a dead end. You need to make your way here from the other side to break the wall.

Return to the first jump pad in the area. Dash into it from the right side to launch yourself upward to the right and use Grasphook to pull out the stone pillar above the spike. Use it to get to the upper platform.

Head through the wall and continue along the path. You’ll soon reach a chamber with three enemies. Take out the big mushroom enemy to unlock the Nailglader Breathcrown.

Scale up the wall on the right all the way to the top to collect a Thin Marah Strand as well. We’re done with exploration of the zone for now.

Exploring The Workshop

Return to Rakik and head down the platform on the left.

Go right and interact with the sigil on the door to unlock it using the Workshop Key. Head inside.

Drop through the platform on the right. Then head left and drop through another platform.

You’ll drop into a chamber with two Table Smithed. Take them down and loot the Atrium near the right-side wall.

Go left and drop to the lower floor. Head right first to pick up a Volatile Vase Item Mold.

Head left and jump to the upper platform to fight two more Table Smithed.

After taking them down, continue heading left until you spot some Atriums on the ground. There’s a grapple point above you. Use it to go up.

Take the Depth Traversal Door on the upper floor and head right to reach the Burden Smithed Workshop Surrogate.

From here, you can head right and destroy a breakable wall to unlock a shortcut back to the entrance.

Unlock the shortcut, then return to the grapple point that you used to reach the Surrogate. Continue along the path on the left to reach another boss fight.

How to Beat Burden Smithed

Burden Smithed guards the entrance to Blade Garden from Nailglade and is found in the Workshop under the town. It’s a bigger version of the Table Smithed enemies and has only a few moves in its arsenal. Despite having a boss health pool, the Burden Smithed isn’t classified as a Great Prey and only grants a Hunt Pigment for beating it.

The Burden Smithed has two Rage Attacks, one of which is a standard dash, and the other is a rolling attack similar to the ones that the Table Smithed uses.

For the normal attacks, you need to be careful with your positioning, as the boss can hit both its front and backside. The biggest threat is when the boss slams its body on the ground, creating a shockwave that travels along the ground.

You can parry the attack to stagger the boss and end the attack.

After defeating the boss, continue heading right to reach a breakable wall.

Go past the wall and pick up the Volatile Vase from the ledge above you. Then go down the platform and enter the Depth Traversal Door.

Continue heading right to enter the Blade Garden. We’ll save this area for later after we make our way through the Jagged Forest.

You can return to Rakik in the Nailglade town after defeating the Burden Smithed to gain a Glare.
