Half Past Fate Story Walkthrough – Chapters 1 & 2

Stuck in Half Past Fate? Find out how to get your coffee at the cafe in Chapter 1, and how to make the most of the tea festival in Chapter 2.

Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough of Half Past Fate! As this is an adventure game, we recommend you explore the area, talk to all the characters, and inspect and use all the objects you can. If you’re still stuck, find out how to solve the main puzzles in the walkthrough below. Note that this is a story-oriented guide, not an achievement guide. Chapter 1 – 12 Hours Ago

In this chapter, you will control Rinden. Once the street clears, cross the street by moving up. Next, access your inventory and press the inspect button to use the phone. After Rinden has the number, press the inventory button again to close it. After your conversation with Kade, move left until the old man calls out to you. After talking to him, walk up to the cane lying on the pavement (just to the north of the old couple on the bench) and pick it up using the interact button. To give it to the old man, walk over to him, open your inventory, switch to the cane, and press the interact button again. Walk left over to the Fellini Cafe’s entrance and examine the door to learn that you have to push it. Once you enter the cafe, you’ll have a conversation with Cade. Your new objective is to clear the line somehow. To do this, we’ll have to convince each of the members of the line to let you cut in. Start with the guy in the pink (mauve?) shirt at the end of the line, who’s named Jaren. You just need to talk to him to get him to move. Next, move up to the jacked guy in the white shirt. Talk to him, and when you have a dialogue choice, use either one to end the conversation. Then talk to him again and ask him what he’s getting. He should then leave, letting you proceed further in the line. Next, talk to the young woman in the blue jacket. After talking to her, go right and north along the counter, so that you’re at a little table that has the coffee creamer on it. Interact with the table, return to the woman, use the creamer from your inventory, and she’ll be off in a bit. Next up, talk to the trucker in the red hat. After talking to him, open your inventory and use your phone on him. This way, he can call his girlfriend and let you cut in. Half Past Fate screenshot The final obstacle is the irate woman at the counter. Talk to her and you’ll find that she needs some change. You can try asking the people around for change, but to actually get some, you first need to head all the way right from the cafe into the outdoor seating area. On the table to the upper-left, you’ll find a plastic bottle. Grab it and head outside to where the recycling bins are, next to the bearded man. Use your inventory to toss the bottle into the appropriate bin. Next, talk to the hippie guy sitting next to the recycling bins and ask him about recycling. This will net you some change, so head back indoors and talk to the lady at the counter to get her to move. Now talk to Holland, the barista behind the counter, and watch the cutscene that follows.

Chapter 2 – 8 Days Ago

After the conversation that opens this chapter, head into the tea festival’s premises to the north. You need to get into the Lost Valley Tea booth, but it’s too crowded, so you’ll have to come back later. Specifically, all you need to do is walk as far to the left or right as you can, until the Lost Valley Tea booth is off-screen, and then when you come back, you should find that the crowd has thinned. If that doesn’t work, just try to check out the booths as far away from Lost Valley Tea’s booth. After the crowd has thinned, repeat the process above and eventually you’ll end up with just one guy (it’s Jaren from the first chapter!) standing by the booth. Talk to the Lost Valley Tea vendor and watch the conversation that unfolds. Next, you just have to check out all the booths in the festival. You can learn more about the teas by using the catalogue in your inventory with them, but to proceed, you simply need to interact with each booth (except the Lost Valley one, of course).
