Halloween: The Game Walkthrough – Prologue: Escape From Smith’s Grove

Welcome to Into Indie Games walkthrough of the prologue, Escape From Smith’s Grove, in Halloween: The Game.

Halloween: The Game, developed by IllFonic, is a survival horror game. However, this game is going to be much different from your average survival horror title. That is because you can experience the game from two different sides. You can either become the antagonist, Michael Myers, or play as one of the protagonists, the Heroes of Haddonfield, in the game’s asymmetrical multiplayer mode.

So, here we will provide you with a walkthrough of the prologue, Escape From Smith’s Grove in Halloween: The Game. If you want to focus on the antagonist side and its progression, this walkthrough is for you. Do note that the single-player story mode will feature only Michael Myers. The Hero side is available through the multiplayer mode.

Challenges Of The Prologue

Do note that there are six challenges in this chapter. The first challenge is to terrify an orderly and cause him to flee. This can be done by grabbing them and walking with them until they become terrified and flee.

The second challenge is to grab and execute three orderlies. This can be done by simply executing three of them in any way you can.

The third challenge is to execute an orderly with a telephone pole. You simply have to grab them, take them to the telephone pole, which is on the right side of the power box, and perform the execution.

The fourth challenge is to throw the orderly to his death. This challenge can be completed easily by grabbing an orderly and taking him near the railing. You can find the railings on the left side of the area from the power box. Do note that you can grab and take the orderly there.

The fifth challenge is to complete the challenge without alerting any orderlies, and the last challenge is to kill or drive away every orderly before you escape.

Now, all of these challenges cannot be completed in a single attempt, so it may take you a few attempts to complete them. Also, they are not necessary for the mission, so you do not have to go out of your way to complete them.

Escape From The Smith’s Grove

As you start the game, once the cutscene ends, the first objective is going to be escaping the sanitarium. You have been heavily injected with sedatives, so for now, your abilities will not reveal themselves. You will unlock these abilities as you progress through the game.

For now, you will not be able to run. Simply walk towards the marked location, and you will get the next objective.

Kill or Terrify the Orderly

You have to either terrify the orderly or kill them. As you get close to the victim that can be seen ahead, you will notice a pop-up. This pop-up explains the passive stalking mechanic. You do not have to go into stealth mode; if you get close enough to the victim, you will automatically begin building Stalk on them.

As you approach them, you will see a circle completing on the victim’s back. Once it has been completed, you will get another pop-up telling you about grabbing. Simply press F or the button that appears for you on the screen, and you will grab the victim.

You can now execute the victim, but do not press the left mouse button instantly. You will have to press the left mouse button at the right moment. Once you have done that successfully, your grab time on the victim will increase, giving you an opportunity to take them to the death zone and smash their heads.

Another way you can execute the victims is by holding the right mouse button. However, make sure to press the right numbers or inputs to perform the execution.

Find A Way To The Lower Gate

After that, the next objective will appear, so head to the right side, and there will be another victim. Now, you can grab the victim and take them close to a wall, and then hold the F button for an elimination. The game explicitly tells you to press the left mouse button to eliminate the enemy, but if you manage to time it correctly within the green bar, the victim escapes before you get a chance to eliminate them again.

So, when you are done, go ahead and make your way to the right side. Keep making your way down the path, and when you see one of the enemies on the top side with a flashlight, that is when you have to head right.

Then, follow the path ahead, and you will reach the lower gate.

Turn Off The Power Box

Now, you have to turn off the power box, which can be seen on the northeast side of the area. Head to the power box and hold E to turn it off. Once you have done that, you will get the next objective.

Pry Open The Gate

Now that the electricity has been shut off, you have to pry open the gate, which will be on the left side of the power box. Now, hold the E button and then mash the X button to pry open the gate. Do note that if you are a little late, you may be interrupted by one of the enemies.

So, make sure to take them out. Grab them and then take them ahead to the left side and slam their head. You will be able to see the sign where you can slam their heads.

Reach The Back Of The Station Wagon Unnoticed

Now, as the station wagon has appeared, what you have to do is go behind it. That said, do it without being noticed. So, go ahead and make your way up through the right side. As you reach up, you will notice the wagon on the right side.

When the man runs to the left side ahead, that is when you need to sneak towards the back side of the car. When you do so, a cutscene will commence, and when the cutscene is over, the prologue, Escape From Smith’s Grove, will be over in Halloween: The Game.
