Heartworm Walkthrough – Abandoned House

This walkthrough for Heartworm will take you step by step through Sam’s haunting descent into a long-abandoned house said to connect the realms of the living and the dead. From exploring its chilling corridors to unraveling cryptic puzzles and facing echoes of the past, this guide is here to help you uncover every hidden secret, survive every haunting, and immerse yourself fully in the game’s unsettling story. Let’s get started.

In this part of the walkthrough, we take Sam through a mysterious abandoned house that is said to connect our world to the other side.

After the introduction cutscene ends, you will be in front of your yellow car. Pick up the camera from the roof of the car.

Tip

Please go through the tutorial based on your controller.

Equip the camera and head up the mountain road to the Abandoned house. There is a diary on the left of the porch.

All the doors and windows are boarded up so head through the side door on the left.

The interior is dark – if you have the camera equipped you can use F/R1/RB to use the flash on the camera without consuming film. Check the code locked door at the bottom of the stairs.

There are two doors at the end of the hall. The one on the left leads to a save room. Save and return. Since you never need them for the game, it’s not a bad idea to put the cigarettes in the Item Box. Back at the foyer, go through the far door at the end of the hall leading to the family room. From here head to the dining room through the door next to the kitchen.

Where is the code for the clock?

Pick up the bandage and the antiseptic in the dining room. Combine them to make a first aid kit. You can pick up another antiseptic in the bathroom. Head up the staircase. At the top of the stairs enter into the small bedroom furthest away from the stairs on the balcony. On the bed there’s a poem, read that to note the time “12:15”.

Go back down the balcony and into the large room (North East) with the shelves and at the end of the room is a grandfather clock – the Clock Closet. Change the hands to read 12:15.

Where is the first Emblem Part?

Enter the newly revealed room and pick up the first Emblem Part.

Where is the code for the lock on the first floor?

If you look around the tapes in this room you will see the tapes and even the picture on the wall is labeled “ROSE” – this is the code for the code lock in the Foyer that we saw earlier.

Back to the Clock Closet, take the other door and head back to the save room. You will need inventory space, so leave some items in the item box. Go back and on the other side near the stairs, enter the first door opposite the stairs on the balcony.

Where is the Attic Key?

Go through the hallway to the Master Bedroom and pick up the Attic Key.

Head back to the foyer to the code lock. Input the code “ROSE”.

Head to the basement and push the shelf out of the way.

Where is the second part of the Heart Emblem?

Make your way to the back room by completing the simple shelf puzzle (by pushing them out of the way). Soon, you will find the second Emblem part. Combine them to create the Heart Emblem.

Now head back to the foyer, go upstairs past the paintings, and head into the far door.

Head up the second set of stairs and unlock the door at the top with the attic key.

Head to the far end of the attic and use the Heart Emblem on the door.

Tip

Once you go through this door you can not return to the Abandoned House so if there’s any exploration you want to do make sure you get it done here.

Head down the stairs and try to open the door at the end – it will be locked.

Go back the way you came, up the steps. When you get closer to the top, you will be attacked by the Tape Keeper. Turn around and start running back to the locked door. Interact with it again to escape.

Tip

If you are caught by The Tape Keeper, a different cutscene will play, but you will end up in the same place.

This concludes this part of the walkthrough for Heartworm.
