Chapter 0
We start our walkthrough of Hirogami in control of our protagonist Hiro, who has been shorn of his paper forms. He can now only ‘unfold’ into a sheet of paper which is helpful for gliding and getting through narrow gaps, but that’s it.

Start by running forward and learning how to jump and double jump.
Destroy the blighted blocks ahead, and you’ll find an altar in need of mending. Remove all the blighted blocks, including the ones on the upper ledge to the left, and then approach the altar.

Use your Sacred Fan Dance to repair the altar and proceed.
Next, use your paper form to get through some narrow gaps, and also to glide up updrafts.

Continue over the sliding platforms, destroying blighted blocks as you go. Later, you’ll fight some blight spheres, both passive and aggressive ones. Destroy them to proceed.
Continue leftwards, defeating the blight spheres as you go, until you reach a broken bridge.

To mend this bridge, you’ll have to find the right materials, which are displayed above the bridge (four craft paper).
Jump up the platforms to the right to grab one craft paper, and then glide as paper onto the updraft to go up.

Here, you’ll find the remaining three craft paper sheets and also a chest containing some gold paper, which will come in handy later.

Return to the bridge and do the Sacred Fan Dance to fix the bridge, then proceed left.
Go up the updraft here to collect some more gold paper, and then continue left.

Continue up the ramp to reach a spot with a broken stone pillar. You need 3 Craft Paper to fix it, which is very handily lying around, so pick it up and do the Sacred Fan Dance to fix the pillar.
Now jump up the stone pillars to get some Gold Paper.

Finally, continue forward to see the game’s title screen and close this chapter.
Chapters Introduction
After you’re done talking to Ruz Pappy and Shiori, head east and then south to find Chapter 1-1.

Every chapter in the game has three cranes you can earn, which are required to unlock missions later in the game. You also have three additional, tougher challenges if you’d like to earn special rewards.
You do not need to complete every mission to finish the level, though you will usually earn one crane for doing so anyway.

Also, keep in mind that you can return to chapters (including Chapter 0) later at any time, with your new abilities unlocked, to access more areas or complete the remaining missions.
Chapter 1-1: Rolling Reckoning
For Chapter 1-1, you will get the first crane for finishing the level. For the second crane, collect as much paper as you can and it’ll be fine. For the third crane, we have to defeat 3 armadillos.

Take out the blighted blocks up ahead and fight the spheres to clear the area (and gain paper). Some of the blighted blocks are blocking the moving platforms, so make sure you clean them up.

Go back up the ramp near where you started and progress across the moving platforms.
You will encounter a fork now, with one path blocked by a broken bridge that requires 6 Craft Paper.

Continue through the route to the left, gliding over updrafts as you go.
Further on, you’ll find several large stone blocks blocked by blighted blocks. Destroy all the blighted blocks and the stone blocks will become push platforms.

Before hopping over them, be sure to collect any and all dropped paper.
Continue onwards until you reach a combat gate. Here, defeat the blighted spheres and open the chest before moving on.

You now have 6 Craft Paper, so go ahead and fix the bridge.
Continue across the bridge, going through some platforming and combat sections. When you reach the wide area, be sure to collect the Gold Paper in the chest to the upper-right corner.

Then, continue up the updraft to the left and jump right.
In the next section, you’ll encounter an armadillo. Your fan can’t hurt living beings, even if they’ve been corrupted by the blight, so you’ll have to bullfight the armadillo and make it crash into the spiky wood blocks.

Remember that you can jump over the armadillo, do just that while standing near some spiky blocks to have the armadillo ram into spikes.
As you might notice, the armadillo smashes clean through regular wooden blocks, so don’t expect them to stop it.

Once the armadillo’s health is reduced to zero, you’ll be able to transform into an armadillo yourself. As an armadillo, you can break through wood while rolling. You also move faster while rolling, and you can use your roll to attack enemies. The tradeoff is that your jumping is very poor, and you cannot use your fan to clear blighted blocks or repair things.

Practice rolling on the wooden blocks here to earn some gold paper. Then, go behind the waterfall as Hiro to find a chest containing a Relic Piece.
When you’re ready to proceed, break the wooden block holding up the ramp to the right, and go up the ramp.
Switch to Armadillo and roll rightwards through all the wooden blocks. Past the tunnel, break more wooden blocks to find a chest containing Kozo Paper. Then, switch to Armadillo and head into the cannon.

Fight the spheres in Armadillo form and proceed to find your way blocked by blighted bramble.
To clear the way, you need to release both the left and right bramble.

Go left and break all the wooden blocks, then turn into paper to glide up and break the last wooden block to clear the bramble there.

Do the same on the right side, with the difference here being that you will lower some stone blocks, blocking the corridor. You can get around the blocks though, so don’t worry.

Next, you’ll deal with some more combat, including another blighted armadillo. You can defeat it in your armadillo form, so don’t switch back to Hiro just yet.
Continue up the elevators and the wooden blocks to find a broken Shrine.

You need a Celestial Crane Amulet to fix this shrine, which you’ll get further ahead.
As Hiro, continue forward, breaking blighted block and going behind a waterfall. Open the large chest in the cave to get the Celestial Crane Amulet, and return to the shrine.
When you return, another blighted armadillo will show up – switch back to armadillo mode to defeat it and earn your third crane.

Then, switch back to Hiro and repair the Shrine to finish the level.
Hidden Area in Chapter 1-1
Return to Chapter 1-1 and progress until you reach the wide area where you found a chest and an updraft. As you might guess, switch to Armadillo and break the wooden block in the center of this area.

Continue breaking blocks and head on into the cannon for an explosive flight to a broken shrine.
You need a Red Crane Amulet to fix this one, so continue right for now and pick up the amulet from the chest beyond.

Return to the shrine as Hiro and fix the shrine. Then, continue to the right of the shrine, up the platforms, to get a diagram and also complete the ‘all treasure chests’ objective.

Then, drop down towards the south and follow the white arrow to reach the cannon again. If you’re done taking joyrides in the cannons, head back to the wide area, and continue the level as usual.
REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE TO COMPLETE THE LEVEL (AGAIN) TO SAVE YOUR MISSION REWARDS.

Chapter 1-2: Dashing Revolution
Once again, our goal is to restore the crane shrine here. To gain additional cranes, you’ll have to make sure your health doesn’t go below 2 hearts, and defeat 10 armadillos.

We begin right where we left off previously, so head left and switch to armadillo mode. Roll across the bridge and defeat your first armadillo enemy of the chapter here.

After defeating it, go forwards as Hiro and glide up as paper. Destroy the blighted blocks and switch to armadillo mode again.

Carefully break through the blocks on the way right and then forwards to find a chest with 50 Gold Paper inside.

Roll your way right across the bridge and when you encounter more enemies, defeat them with your rolls. Destroy the wooden blocks to bring the archers to your level.
Go forward from there and roll into the cannon to be sent to a new area.

Defeat some more areas up ahead, including another armadillo, to find a broken pathway that requires 10 Craft Paper to fix.

Take a left here and roll over the winding bridge carefully, making sure to jump over obstacles and pits.

Once on the other side, deal with the enemies to be granted a new sigil. This one lets you perform an upward strike while in armadillo mode – which you’re going to need right about now.
Pick up the Gold Paper in the chest to the left and then switch to armadillo mode if you haven’t already. Use your Upward Spin to destroy the wooden blocks in this area.

Then as Hiro, jump up the stones and pull the lever on either side to unlock a new bridge.
Make your way back to the broken pathway (with the 10 Craft Paper requirement) and in armadillo mode, defeat the enemies and the enemy armadillo.

Proceed right across the newly formed bridge. Rapidly roll your way across the spike floor and the pushing blocks.
In the next combat area, you’ll battle a few more armadillos, and even a boss armadillo, who has more health than regular ones.

Open up the chest here for your required 10 Craft Paper, and backtrack all the way to the broken pathway. (You can go left from here too, but it leads to a dead end for now).
When you’re back, switch to Hiro and repair the pathway. Defeat the enemies on the steps and glide your way up at the end.

Continue forward carefully and glide again to an updraft by the waterfall. Once up, switch to armadillo mode and deal with the enemies here.
Then, roll into a spiral stone maze with many wooden blocks to smash through (and a bunch of enemies to destroy).

At the center of the structure, pull the lever to be taken up an elevator. Glide forward to the final area and switch to armadillo mode again.
We see a shrine here, which needs a Celestial Crane Amulet.

Proceed past the shrine and across the stone bridge. The bridge will collapse behind you, but that’s no problem for an armadillo.
Open the chest for the amulet and then make your way back to the shrine.

You’ll encounter a whole bunch of enemies here. Defeat them to get your armadillo mission complete.
Finally, restore the crane shrine to complete Chapter 1-2.
