Honeycomb: The World Beyond – Walkthrough Part 2: The Memory Cores

Honeycomb: The World Beyond Walkthrough

Honeycomb: The World Beyond is an exploration and survival-crafting game where you play as Henessy, a bioengineer who’s trying to find a cure for Earth’s ecological collapse on Sota7. As you arrive on this planet, you’ll first have to craft the basic tools and start growing crops. However, Sota7 hides some secrets that will only be revealed as you progress in the story.

Expanding Research

As you settle in Sota7, you’ll unlock a few quests. One of the quests requires you to locate local wildlife and tame them, while the other quest asks you to locate two plants from the same family.

You’ll first have to scan an Ebony Linter plant, which can be found by following the quest marker. However, after that, you’ll have to locate an Ivory Linter.

The search for the Ivory Linter will lead you towards a gigantic fossil. As you pass through the ribcage, you’ll find something like a human-made, toy-like figure.

After obtaining the toy-like figure, you’ll have to continue with your daily exploration. Try to complete the First Fruits quest by combining Ivory Linter and Ebony Linter in the same growbed.

In a day or two, you’ll receive a mysterious signal from a location. The IVS will place a waypoint on it. When you get there, you’ll find a path going behind a waterfall.

When you get there, you’ll find a platform here in front of a mural that shows the figurine. You’ll have to place the figurine on the platform to open the path.

As you place the figurine on the platform, a path will open. Enter the area and keep going. You’ll eventually reach a pedestal with the Memory Cube on it.

Skyfall

As soon as you pick up the memory orb, the gate that you used to enter the place will shut off. You’ll then have to climb through the area to reach an elevated spot.

When you get there, you’ll find multiple spacecraft fragments falling from the sky and crashing into Sota7. Each crash will leave behind a trail of smoke, which is what you can use to track down the 24 Databoxes of the crashed spacecraft.

The Second Region

After obtaining the first Memory Core, the entire northern part of the map will become accessible. You can head north and find a way leading to the second region.

Follow the quest marker, and you’ll arrive in the Scarlet Zone. There’s a tiny pathway here that links to the northern areas, as well as the strange structure in the mountains.

As you pass through the passage, you’ll get the signal from the rubble shortly ahead in the Amber Land region.

There will be a box here. You’ll have to try to extract data from it. You’ll recover a conversation transcript from the device, which reveals the nature of Henessy’s mission on Sota7.

Running Up The Hill

After recovering the conversation transcript, you’ll spot a structure on the hill to your left. The structure appears to be human-made, but the path to it is tricky.

There are many hills blocking your path, and only one path leads to the structure.

To enter the structure, approach it from your left, where you see the path leading up towards the structure.

As you keep going on the path, you’ll find some stairs leading you to the structure.

Enter the structure. You’ll find a wall with five slots in it. You can put the memory core that you’ve found in the middle slot. This will allow you to obtain some information about Sota7’s past.

Open your Databank from the menu to find the recently discovered document. Once you’ve read through it,

As you leave the facility, you’ll have a short chat with IVS. Now, what you have to do is find the remaining four Memory Cores to discover what really happened to the inhabitants of Sota7 and where they are now. All four of these Memory Cores can be found in the northern region.

Northwestern Memory Cores

As you head toward the northwestern areas of Sota7, you’ll eventually receive a signal. IVS will mark it on your map immediately.

Keep moving towards the Northwestern waypoint. You’ll eventually arrive in a canyon. The region is called Singing Stones.

Navigate your way through the canyon to reach a cave-like settlement in the middle of the water. This appears to be an ancient grand market.

You’ll find a Memory Core inside the area. Before you return to your base, you can head deeper towards the northwest.

You’ll receive another signal as you exit the grand market with the Memory Core. The water canal that goes further towards the west can help you reach the next waypoint more easily.

However, when you reach the area, you’ll find out that you can’t proceed further because of the intense Dust Storm. You’ll need to return to a base and craft a Respirator to progress.

Return to a base. A Respirator can be crafted at a Fabricator using Rubber, Textile Fiber, and Silicone. Rubber can be crafted with Resin, which is obtained from Amber plants in the Northwestern region. Textile Fiber is easy to make with Sweet Trax. You can craft Silicone with Viscous Secretion, which can be obtained from Zuma nests. Silica is also required to craft Silicone, which can easily be obtained from deposits on the beaches.

Once you’ve got a respirator, it’s recommended that you have a spare maintenance kit with you as well in your inventory. That’s because the respirator’s health deteriorates exceptionally fast, and you’ll have to make your way straight to the goal if you want to make it without having it break down in the middle of the dust storm.

The maintenance kit allows you to repair any device, including a respirator, allowing you to freely explore the region and make it to the signal waypoint.

As you approach the marked area, you’ll find yourself in what appears to be an ancient temple. The Memory Core is there on a pedestal.

Pick it up and return to the structure on the hill to insert the two memory cores into the slots. These two memory cores will reveal information about the Nomads and a Key.

Northeastern Memory Cores

Just after crossing the path to the northern region, you can go to the top of the cliff to your right, which can lead you to the northeastern region.

You’ll find a river leading further to the northeast. Follow the river, and you’ll catch the signal for the next memory core. There will be an area where the river splits into two, with one end going north and the other going to the east. Here, you have to keep going towards the northeast on land.

You’ll then enter the Gem Valley. There are toxic gas vents in the area. Try to navigate your way around them. You may be able to get through with a Respirator, but I didn’t check it out personally.

As you pass through the area, you’ll get the Northeastern Signal. The signal comes from further behind the mountains. To get there, you’ll have to keep going east.

Keep going west here. IVS will eventually report that it has located another signal coming from a lake nearby. This lake is surrounded by large hexagonal blocks.

You’ll have to find your way in. If you’re full on health and have some bandages, you can try to jump on the rocks and fall to get to the lake.

When you finally get down, you’ll find that the lake is filled with a harmful liquid. There are stones in the middle of it, leading to a pedestal in the middle.

Jump on the stones to reach the pedestal. You can find the first Northeastern Orb here. Exit the lake and keep going west.

Keep going west. Find a path that leads north. You’ll enter an area called Color Craters. This shows that you’re on the right track, and you can focus on heading north from here.

As you cross the Color Craters area, you’ll enter the White Mountain Region. The waypoint should be getting close now.

As the waypoint gets closer, you’ll have to be extremely wary. There are creatures here that are extremely hostile and aggressive. You can scan them if you have a dart gun with EON darts, but your primary priority should be the memory core.

You’ll eventually reach an area that looks like an ancient university. There will be some stairs here. The Memory Core is above. You can get to it by using the stairs. Once you’ve picked up the last memory core here, you can make your way to the facility on top of the hill.

Inserting The Memory Cores

After you’ve acquired all five Memory Cores, you’ll have to insert them into the facility on the Hill. Once you insert a memory core in the slot inside the facility, it will unlock a document in the databank, which can be accessed by opening the menu.

Reading these documents will tell you what you have to do next, while also revealing more information about Sota7’s past.

The Northeastern Memory Orbs reveal information about a gate. It is expected that the residents of Sota7 locked themselves behind this gate to escape the ecological collapse, waiting for someone who understood the cycles of the planet.

Henessy is hopeful, but you’ll have to find this gate first. Furthermore, inserting all five Memory Cores in the facility will open a gate inside of it.

This gate leads you to a garden. There’s not much here, but you can find a rare flower here that you can’t find anywhere else.
