Welcome to the third and final part of our walkthrough for Keeper, a puzzle-adventure game from Double Fine Productions.
Now transformed into a boat, the lighthouse and the seabird carry on with their adventure through open waters. This article picks up after the events of the last chapter, where you fix up the light bulbs in the three lamps and go through the open mouth of the Lock Keeper. Eventually, you head into a cave through dark waters.
For more information about Keepers, check out their official website here.
Table of contents
Outcropping

The screen will fade to black when you enter the cave. When it returns, you’ll find yourself transformed into the Lighthouse again.

There’s not much to do here. Keep moving forward through the crumbling world around you.

At the end of the path, you’ll get stranded on a small piece of land with water all around you.

The camera angle shifts to a bird’s eye view. After a while, you’ll start noticing tendrils of squid-like creatures swimming towards you from all sides.

You can use Focus Light on them to keep them at bay. However, you’ll soon get overwhelmed, and the screen will fade to black again. This triggers a short cutscene.
Wither Seige

Once the cutscene ends, you’re back to being a boat. Start moving forward to fix the camera perspective.

You’ll see some purple stuff floating on the water up ahead, almost as if polluting it. Focus your light on them to clear a path and head through.

Continue heading forward to go down a water current and land on an open area. You can see a red egg-like object in the distance.

Head left, carving a path through the polluted water and dash through the rubble.

On your right, you’ll spot a creature trapped in the polluted water. Shine your light on it to free it.

The creature dives into the water and breaks open a path for you to follow. Dive through the open path to emerge on the other side of the blockade.

Keep moving forward until you reach an area with a growth. Focus your light to break it.

It reveals a purple breathing growth underneath. Focus your light on it until it pops and the blockade disappears.

Head through the open path and clear away the surrounding polluted water. You can see two more of these purple growths on the giant tentacle up ahead.

After cleaning up the water, check the slanted structure on the right side of the tentacle. Go near it and press X to send Twig.

Rotate the crank to lift the hanging lamp, then rotate the second crank to point the light beam at one of the purple growths.

Press B to return and then point your own light beam at the other growth to break the tentacle. Dash through the rubble and continue moving forward.

You’ll spot two yellow growths on the tentacle up ahead. Break them by shining your light.

This reveals a purple growth underneath, but you need another light source to break the tentacle.

Head to the left side of the area to spot a ball trapped in purple vines. Focus the light on it to break the ball free. It’ll travel through the nearby tube to the structure near the tentacle.

You have your second light source. Break the tentacle and go through the open passage.

You’ll find a purple barrier up ahead. Simply focus the light on it to break it.

This triggers a cutscene as a worm-like monster comes to life.
Wither Sprawl

Once the cutscene ends, head forward and take the path on the right.

You’ll spot a growth up ahead. Break it by shining your light on it. You can see a purple growth, but you don’t have the angle to focus your light on it directly.

Next, follow the tube on the left to its starting point to find a ball trapped in polluted water. Break it free and follow it as it travels through the tube.

Dash through the blockade on the tube so that it can continue moving.

At one point, it’ll get trapped again by polluted water. Break it free.

Once it makes it to its final destination, a lamp comes alive and clears away the tentacle blocking your path.

Head through the opening and go left. You don’t need to clear the polluted water up ahead unless you’re hunting achievements.

Break through the rubbles to spot two purple growths on the left.

Turn around and you’ll spot another purple growth on a wall. There’s a flower reflecting a green beam of light next to it. Head towards the growth and break it by using Focus Light. It doesn’t work.

Turn left and go under the tube to the other side.

You’ll find a one-eyed floater trapped in polluted water up ahead. Rescue it by clearing the water.

Head into the cave in the area and clean the polluted water inside.

This pushes a ball through the tube. But it can’t get far because of the growth blocking its path. Shine your beam on the purple vine on the left.

Send Twig to and rotate the crank until the green light beam is reflected directly at the purple growth.

Head to the other side of the cave and aim your light beam at the growth from the other side to break it. This allows the ball to pass through the tube.

At one point, the tube breaks. Send the one-eyed floater that you rescued to fix it by pressing A. You’ll also learn that they are called Drifters.

The ball gets stuck again. If you get close to the place where it got stuck, you’ll get attacked by a swarm. Hold RT to Focus Light and scare them off.

You’ll find another drifter on the left side of the tube where the ball is trapped. Rescue it by cleaning the polluted water.

Press A near where the ball is stuck to send the drifter and create a ramp.

Dash through the ramp to break the roadblock, and the ball will travel all the way to the finish line.

Now you can break the purple growths on the tentacle.

Head through the opening and break another purple blockade to trigger another cutscene.
Wither Storm

Once the cutscene ends, head right through the newly opened path. There’s one last purple blockade you need to break.

Up ahead, you’ll spot one of those crab-like creatures in a small cave. Shine your light on the bush on your left to lure the creature.

As he moves away, you’ll spot a growth. Break it.

Continue breaking the growths that keep appearing around the tentacle.

This will lead you to a purple growth at the end. Break it using Focus Light and head through.

Clear the polluted water on the left and head toward the ball on the island.

As you get close and send Twig, a crab creature jumps up from the ground carrying the ball on its head.

Focus the light on the two bushes marked in the image above to guide the creature forward.

Head across the river and dock on the island so that the crab creature can get on your boat.

Loop around the river and drop it off at another island. Then light another set of bushes. We’ve marked the route and the bushes in the image above.

Once the crab creature arrives at its final spot, the water nearby gets polluted. Clear it out.

Dock at the island and then drop off the creature at another island to the north.

Light up the two bushes marked in the image above to guide it towards the tube.

The ball will start moving through the tube. Follow its path to find two purple growths.

Once the light beam starts firing, use Focus Light on the other growth to break the tentacle.

Enter through the tentacle on the left to reach a cavern.

Go forward and then right to enter a round chamber. You’ll spot two growths on the right.

Break them by using Focus Light.

Head toward the left wall and scan it by focusing the light on different parts of it. You’ll spot three growths hidden in the wall. Break all of them.

There are two more growths you’ll have to break. We’ve marked them in the above image.

Once done, go near the underwater area that opened up.

Press X to send Twig and retrieve a bulb.

Exit the cavern through the left side of the area. You’ll have to clear some polluted water on your way out.

Once back outside, you’ll find another creature trapped in polluted water. Rescue it and it’ll break a chunk off the tentacle to reveal a third purple growth.

Shine your light on the purple flower on the right to open it. Then send Twig to tug on the flower.

A lamp appears and starts firing a light beam at one of the purple growths.

Now turn left and you’ll spot another lamp stuck amid the tentacles. Send Twig to install the bulb and wait for it to fire at another purple growth.

Focus your beam on the middle purple growth to break the blockade.

Keep moving forward to trigger a cutscene.

When it ends, move forward and use Focus Light on the worm monster up ahead. This will trigger another cutscene and transition you to the next chapter.
Wither Run

This is a short chapter where you’re simply rushing down the stream chasing the worm monster.

You’ll occasionally have to dodge a few hazards flying towards you, but that’s pretty much it.

Keep moving forward, and eventually you’ll trigger a long cutscene leading you into the next chapter.
Atrium

The fight against the worm monster has left you devastated. All that’s left of you is just the spotlight.

The cutscene ends with you getting hit by lightning and falling into a large chamber. You’ve entered the final zone of the game.

Once the cutscene ends, head for the ramp marked in the image above.

Use it to jump over to the other side of the gap. Bump into the purple growths on the vines to break them.

This will reveal another ramp. Use it to jump to the other side.

The final ramp has purple grasses around it. Clear them out first by running over them.

Once your path is clear, use the ramp to get across.

Run through the opening and dash into the purple face in the vine.

This fires up a gyser on the right. Run into the Gyser, then bump into the face again to break it.

Head through another door up ahead and run into the gyser to light it up.

Bump into the purple growths on the sides to open the doors.

Run across the gyers into another face in the area to break it open.

Head through the opening until you bump into another face. This one is cyan. You’ll notice there are three inactive gysers here.

Go right to spot an active gyser. Run over it and then run across the inactive gysers to light them up. Note that once you run over three gysers in quick succession, your color turns cyan.

Run into the face in this state to break it.

In the next room, you’ll spot another purple face up ahead. But since it’s across the river, you can’t bump into it while ignited by the gysers.

Take the path on the right and keep moving forward, lighting up the gysers as you go. You’ll eventually reach the face without having to cross the pool.

Bump into the face and head through the long tunnel.

Run up the ramp and cross through the gate at the top. It might take you a couple of attempts.

You’ll reach an area filled with holes. You can spot a cyan face directly up ahead.

Get into the hole on the left and make your way to the top by running in circles.

Get on the ramp at the top and follow the path to break two purple growths.

This will lead you down a tunnel, through a gyser, and into a purple face.

Go through the opening to arrive at the front of the area near the cyan face. You’ll also light the middle and the left gyser at the same time.

Return to the starting area and go right. Circle around the hole and go up and through the opening.

Touch the activated gyser and run through the tunnel, lighting up gysers along the way.

You’ll hit another purple face up ahead and break through the right side of the room with the cyan face.

With the three gysers now activated, use them to turn into your cyan form and bump into the face to break it. Head through the opening to start the next chapter.
Breatheway

Make your way through the tunnel till you reach a locked gate. Bump into the red seed on the left to open the gate.

Head through another tunnel till you reach an open area. The path is blocked, but you see a green portal on your right.

Enter the portal to get transported to a different spot. There’s another portal up ahead.

Use the second portal to reach an open gate and head through it.

In the chamber up ahead, there’s a purple face. Bump into the seed on the left to activate the flower on the right.

Stand on the flower patch and use Focus Light on the face to fire a beam and break the wall.

Head through the wall to reach a room with a series of paths. This is the main Breatheway.

Start by breaking the purple growth on the right by bumping into it.

Go through the path to reach a platform with a red seed. Activate it.

Continue moving along the path on the left, sticking to the right side as you go. You’ll reach a platform with a purple face.

Get on the patch and fire the light beam at the face to break it. Also break the purple growth on the right to activate a portal to the start of the area.

Head through the path created after breaking the face switch to reach another purple face. Run across the gysers to activate them.

Bump into the face to break it, and then continue along the same path to activate the red seed.

Keep moving forward on the right-side path to reach the locked gate at the front of the room.

From this platform, take the path on the left to reach another area with a purple face. Since you activated the red seed earlier, the gyser in this area will be activated. Ignite yourself and bump into the purple face to break it.

Keep moving along the path that opens up, igniting the gysers to reach a larger platform. Bump into the cyan face switch to break it once you move through three gysers.

Continue along the path behind the cyan face to light up two more red seeds. If you keep sticking to this path, you’ll reach the starting point. So turn back and return to the larger platform that you just came from after activating the two red seeds.

You’ll spot two flower patches here now that the red seeds have been activated. Use them to break the purple faces on the left wall.

This leads to a segment where you have to navigate a series of portals. Follow the steps below:
- Go through the green portal in the bottom area.
- In the second level, take the portal on the right.
- Go past the first green portal and use the jump pad to go through the second green portal.
- Activate the red seed. Then use the jump pad to reach the next track. Don’t go through the first portal. Go up the ramp and into the second green portal.
- Use the jump pad to reach the left platform and keep moving forward till you enter a green portal.

This will take you to another area with a purple face switch.

Head downwards to find a red seed. Activate it and then stand on the flower patch near the face. Focus the light on it to break it and open the way forward.

Keep moving forward along the path, use the two portals up ahead, and you’ll eventually reach an area with another purple face switch. Run through the gyser and bump into it.

Break the red seed. You’ve done everything you need to do to open the main gate at the end of the room.

Race to the end and go through the door to reach the next chapter.
Sensorium

After entering the door, you’ll see a red seed near the main path. Activate it and continue moving forward.

You’ll reach an area with a purple face switch and a flower patch on the ground. There’s also a swarm moving around the area. Get on the flower patch and first shoot the beam at the swarm to kill it. Then fire the beam at the face switch to open the way forward.

Activate another red switch and continue moving forward. You’ll hit a jump pad and reach another area with a purple face switch.

The red seed you just activated also ignited the gyser in this area. Use it to ignite yourself and bump into the face switch.

Activate another red seed and continue moving up. You’ll reach a circular area with inactive gysers. Ignite yourself from the gyser in the previous area and keep running around in circles. You’ll ignite the gysers, turning cyan, and also destroy the cyan face switches in the area.

The camera perspective will shift once you break all the switches. Head through the hole in the middle.

Once you get out of the psychedelic tunnel, run up the ramps to activate the three red switches on the wall.

The floor breaks, and you fall into another psychedelic tunnel. Keep moving forward.

Eventually, you’ll trigger a cutscene after breaking through a purple face wall to face off against the worm monster from before.

When the cutscene ends, head all the way to the right to activate a red seed.

Bounce off the wall on the right and head left. You’ll spot a flower patch that you can use.

Fire the light beam at the tentacle blocking the path on the left to break it.

Continue heading left and you’ll reach the upper floor. Go through the gyser, bounce off the wall, and keep heading right. If the boss hits you, you’ll get sent to the lower floor.

Once you reach a level above, move forward to trigger a cutscene. Twig comes in and activates a few red seeds, which activate the flower patches near the boss.

Go around the boss and use the flower patches to break the base. Once you break all three bases, the boss fight ends.
The Keeper

The final chapter of the game starts with a cutscene. When you regain control, start moving forward. This chapter serves more as an epilogue than an actual chapter with puzzles.

All you have to really do is move forward. You’ll watch as you take different forms. The final form turns you into a four-legged creature with wings.

Simply keep heading forward as you watch different cutscenes unfold. If you see blue vines blocking your path, simply dash through them. The same goes for any other obstacles.

Keep progressing through the chapter until you reach a giant blue eye at the peak of the mountain.

Once the cutscene ends, position the ray of light at the ice crystal at the top to break it. Then drag the ray toward a smaller circle near the center.

Repeat the same steps a few more times to complete the segment.

Enjoy the final cutscene and watch the credits roll!
