The Biology Academy is the third, massive main area in Kotama and Academy Citadel, with a massive amount of upgrades and items to offer; one of the most important areas present in the game.
In this guide, we will provide a complete walkthrough of the Biology Academy in Kotama and Academy Citadel from beginning to end.

Entering Biology Academy
After beating Dreamweaver Klara and their Stage Devices, return to the Exhibition Room in Central District. Keep moving left to find a Purple Flower wall, on which you can use your wall jump ability and climb the ledge.
Ahead, there’s a whole area covered in green sludge. Before you can explore the Biology Academy, hit the lever to your left to drain all the liquid that blocks the entry path.
Drop down and continue forward to meet Flora, the student health rep of the Academy. Once they introduce themselves, you’re free to explore the Biology Academy at your own pace.
Unlocking the Train Station
Arcadia’s access should be your priority. Head to the Train Station from the top left room that also leads toward the next two objectives, and go through the green-scan doors to unlock Arcadia’s station in Biology Academy.
The Train Station will provide you with a means to travel to other areas seamlessly and use the upgrade materials by talking to Nito.d
Biology Academy Map Location
To have a better understanding of Biology Academy, finding its map is a must. For the map, head to the Flooded Center and stay cautious of the shield-generating mobs; they’ll hit you once, and it’s game over.
Defeat the shield generator first and the covered enemies later. Instead of Purple Flowers, the Biology Academy consists of dark, mutated roots that you can use for wall jumping.
Climb up the wall and visit the room to your right. Battle against the special Sailfishes with AOEs, and continue to follow the path.
After three rooms, you will find the Biology Academy map. Hit it, and now you can see all the available rooms that you can explore.
Unlocking Tract Ability and Beating Butterfly Shark
You may have noticed the Tractopm Rings in various locations throughout the map. To use them, you will need the Tract ability that can be discovered in the Biology Academy.
For the Tract ability, move towards the top-left side from the Flooded Center. Use your Umbrella Spear to maneuvre and glide above the spikes.
In the new room, move left and don’t drop down the ledge yet. Climb up the mutated roots and follow the path.
Just before the Tract ability, you will go toe to toe with Butterfly Shark. Butterfly Shark goes underground and tracks Kotama’s movements; jump, move left and right to create a safe space to parry and avoid its attacks.
Chronopetal Upgrade
After defeating the boss, proceed right and obtain the Tract ability. Return to the previous area and now drop down the ledge to find a door you can break with the Whip Hammer’s mid-air attack.
In the room below, you can find a Chronopetal Kiosk to increase Kotama’s maximum Chronoshell.
Lifejade Upgrade
For the Lifejade shell upgrade, return to the huge room to the left of the Flooded Center. Use Tract to climb up the Traction Ring; don’t turn right to the other room.
At the top, you will find the Lifejade Kiost. Hit it to receive the upgrade.
Unlocking the Floodgates
Now that you have received the Tract ability, it’s time to head towards the main objectives. Return to the huge room near the Flooded Center and use the hook near the green thorns to get to the first Flood Gate control.
The first gate control unlocks the middle area of the Centre. Keep following the path and defeating every enemy in your way to get to the lower areas.
Temporal Coil Upgrade
During your adventure to the second Flood Gate control, a Temporal Coil upgrade can be discovered. Use the map below to your advantage for an accurate path towards the upgrade room.
If you’re struggling with the platforming section, use the Dark Orb in the beginning to skip it and instantaneously teleport to the higher area to use the Whip Hammer’s smash.
At the bottom of the room, you will find the Temporal Coil upgrade.
Continuing to the second Flood Gate, you can find a shortcut that opens a path to the middle area’s entrance by using the Tract after the floating thorn block.
Simply keep moving right to find the second Flood Gate control to completely drain the sludge.
Secret Sower Boss Fight and Memocard Location
There’s a secret Sower boss fight hidden in the Biology Academy. After activating the second gate control, return to the floating thorn block to find a hidden room below it.
Drop down, and there you will find the Sower Beetle that spawns its minions. Beat the boss, and to the left, you will find the Wisdom Tooth Surgery Memocard.
The Decomposer Boss Fight
With everything done and dusted, it’s time for the showdown between Kotama and Biology Academy’s main boss, The Decomposer.
After draining all the sludge from the Flooded Center, you can find the boss in the bottom right area of the academy. Be cautious of the boss, as it’s nothing like you’ve seen in the game before; a giant, gimmick-based boss.
Unavailable Rooms
For now, everything that we have mentioned can be explored. To further explore the Biology Academy, you will need ten temporal coils to visit the upper area of the academy.
Lastly, one room is completely barred behind a 12% votes requirement. You can check your votes by pressing the escape/back button.
