Prologue
Wake up Kulebra using the movement controls and then head east. You’ll find an old lady trapped in the vines. Talk to her and then go a bit southeast to find a tree with a pair of scissors on it.

Use your new roll ability to smash into the tree and drop the scissors. Pick up the scissors.
Go back to the old lady and talk to her. Bring up the inventory when the Items prompt shows up.

Use the scissors to get rid of the vines.
After you’re done talking to the Old Lady, go to the left of the boulder and press against it (don’t roll into it) to push it to the right.

Now head into the tunnel to conclude the prologue and begin Kulebra’s journey proper.
Chapter 1: A Blessing Within a Curse
Dead Valley: A Way In, A Way Out
After talking to the crow here, you’ll learn that you’re in Dead Valley.
Go east down the slope to find yourself at a fork. There’s nothing to do to the west just yet, so continue going east.

Eventually, you’ll find some stairs going up. Ignore the way east and go up the stairs. You can check out Rosa’s Flowershop now if you’d like, but in this walkthrough we’ll continue going east.
After the bridge, go down the slope that follows, and approach the locked gate with the sign “Leaving Dead Valley”.
You don’t have any means to open this gate, so it’d be best to ask around. Go back to Rosa’s Flowershop and enter it.
Approach the woman behind the counter, Flora, and talk to her about the gate.
Exit the flower shop now. You’ll learn from Krow how to pass the time by sitting at the bench. Do this now: interact with the bench and choose to pass time until the evening. If it’s the evening already, then you don’t need to sit on the bench just now.
The Talking Boulder
When it’s the evening, you’ll find the shop closed and Flora is at the garden to the west of the shop. Talk to her to learn that she’s lost the key to the garden.
Then, return to the cliff at the entrance to Dead Valley, i.e. where you first met Krow after the tunnel.
Go north of the boulder to find Krow and talk to him. Ask him about the locked gate, and you’ll learn about the talking boulder.

According to Krow, the boulder does not talk to him during the day and the evening – so there’s a chance the boulder might talk at night.
Go back east down the slope and you’ll find a bench near the fork. Rest at the bench until the night.

Now return to the locked gate area. South of the gate is a painted boulder – go up to it and talk to it.
Ask the boulder about the gate and you’ll learn you need to give it a flower for it to help you.
If you’ve already purchased a flower from the flower shop, you can hand it over here from your inventory. This walkthrough will assume you don’t have a flower right now.

Exit the conversation now and find a bench to rest at (there’s one to the east of the gate). Rest until tomorrow.
On waking up and getting re-greeted by Krow, tell him that you met the talking boulder. You’ll get a lottery ticket. Exit the conversation.

The Beginner’s Flower
Return to Rosa’s Flowershop now and talk to Flora about what’s for sale. You’ll learn that the first flower on sale, Noova, costs 5 pearls.
If you have 5 pearls already, go ahead and buy a Noova.
Otherwise, exit the shop and head out to find pearls.

You can find pearls within pots and urns balanced precariously on top of things, such as crates. There’s one to the immediate west of the bridge, for example.
Ram into the object, wall, or tree while rolling to drop the pearl and acquire it.

Once you go down the stairs, there should be a crate-and-urn on either side of the stairs.
You should be able to pony up 5 pearls from these three urns.
Return to the flower shop and purchase the Noova.
Exit the shop and rest on a bench until night time.
Get back to the talking boulder and talk to it to deliver your Noova.
The Key to the Garden
You’ll get a ball of lint in return. Open your inventory and examine the ball of lint to find 2 hair pins.
Talk to the boulder again and get the autograph for Krow now. Remember to hand over the lottery ticket from your inventory when prompted.
Now go all the way back to the flower shop area. You can’t enter it, but you’ll hear Rosa and Flora whispering in the upper room.
Go to the padlock that’s blocking the wooden stairs to the right of the flower shop, and interact with it. Bring up your inventory and use a hairpin.

Complete the mini-game to open the gate and go up the wooden stairs.
Approach the crack in the wall and press against it to eavesdrop. Once you’re done, you should roll into the wall to get some pearls. (Remember to look for shiny places and roll into them to get pearls!).

Now that you’ve learned that Rosa was sitting on something, go to a bench and have Kulebra pass time until tomorrow.
At the start of the day, you’ll meet Krow again. Talk to him about the autograph and hand it over from your inventory. Also ask about the stalking bird while he’s here.
Once you’re done with the conversation, return to Rosa’s Flowershop.
(There’s a locked chest to the right of the stairs leading up to Rosa’s Flowershop, under the bridge. Use your hairpin on it to unlock it and get a non-critical item).

Inside Rosa’s Flowershop, talk to Flora and ask her if she’s lost something. Ask her to try under Rosa.
The shop will be closed now, but Flora is still available in ‘Rosa’s Garden’, to the west of the shop.

The Herbicide, the Syrup, and the Second Flower
Talk to Flora in the garden and ask her what she’s doing. Bring up the scissors from your inventory.
Ask her if she needs help and then pick up the herbicides on the table.

As the vines are purple, the herbicide we need should also be purple. Red + Blue gets us purple, so combine the blue herbicide with the red herbicide.
If you mess up, go to the unmixing machine to the west of the table, and use your mixed herbicide on it.
Once you’ve created the purple herbicide, give it to Flora and you’ll get a Tapping Kit with which to extract syrup.
As Flora says, you need to find a tree with an ‘X’ mark on it to get the syrup.
This tree can be found at the sunset point (where you start the day), to the far west of the area.
Get as close to the tree as possible and use the tapping kit from your inventory on it. Roll into the tree to get the syrup.
Pick up the container and return to Flora to hand over the container from your inventory.
After the conversations, rest on a bench until the evening.
Head to the bridge in the evening and talk to Flora. After a long heart-to-heart, you’ll get a Duolive flower.

Now rest at a bench until the night and go to Rocco the talking boulder to hand over the second flower he requires.
The Thief, the Gardening Hat, and the Third Flower
After this – guess what – you need the third flower. As Rocco says, you need the gardening hat to convince Flora and Rosa that you can take care of the flower.
Get Kulebra rolling and ram into Rocco to drop the hat.

Next, we need to catch the hat thief. Go back to the flower shop and go up the wooden staircase to talk to Pica.
There’s no option but to pay up here, so agree to her deal and pay her final price of 5 pearls.
Edit 5th June 2025: Reader Eddiana has informed us that if you knock the bird off the tree, you can get the hat without paying for it! Thanks Eddiana!

Now that you have the gardening hat, return to Rocco and tell him about the hat. He’ll teach you some basic facts about the Estrella, which you need to remember (or not, if you’re following this walkthrough).
Now rest at a bench until the daytime and return to Rosa’s Flowershop. As before, ask her what’s for sale and check out the Estrella.
You’ll need 15 pearls for this. If you don’t have them, look around!

You can also recover the pearls you ‘lost’ to Pica by waiting until it’s night and going to the fork at the bottom of the slope leading to the sunset point. Smash into the tree at this fork to grab the 5 pearls.
Note that at night, you might find the old lady waiting for you at the bridge. Talk to her if you like.
When you have 15 pearls, talk to Flora in the flower shop and purchase the Estrella. When asked for proof of being a professional gardener, use the hat from your inventory.
Agree to purchase the Estrella and then you’ll have a questionnaire to fill up. Answer the questions as:
- Near where it sprouted
- Moonlight every night
- Someone to keep it company

When you’re done, a scene will follow, after which you’ll find yourself in a boss fight (in an adventure game!).
Chapter 1 Finale
This works as a bit of a quiz and final test for this chapter.
- For the first question, answer “Noova”.
- For the second question, answer “It’s a Succulent Flower”.
- Refute the third question, as you get syrup from trees, not flowers.
- Refute the fourth question, as the Estrella needs moonlight, not sunlight.

This concludes phase one of the ‘fight’. Rosa (or rather, Espinas) will put some black vines between you and her, which we need to get rid of before continuing.
We need to collect three herbicides now (as Red + Yellow + Blue = Black).
- Pick up the blue herbicide to the east of Rosa.
- Pick up the red herbicide to the south of Rosa.
- Pick up the yellow herbicide behind the counter (go far east to get behind the counter).

In your inventory, combine one herbicide with the other, and combine the resulting mixture with the third herbicide.
Interact with the black vines and use your black herbicide on them. You still need to cut them though, so talk to Flora for the scissors.

Use the scissors on the vines and get ready for Phase 2.
Answer that “Flora wants to leave”, and then mention you heard from her “at the bridge”. Then, answer that “she doesn’t want to leave you”. Finally, answer “Ceed”.

After using Kulebra’s anime-esque light beam to defeat the boss, enter the house through the half-open door in the back.
Go up the stairs and east into Flora’s room. Interact with the items here, and then pick up the key on the bed.
Go west now to Rosa’s room and use the key you found in Flora’s room to open the door.
Go as far west as you can and talk to Rosa, then ask her to come with you. Go east and keep going east.
After the cutscene and conversations, once you’re done inspecting Rosa’s room, head out through the door.
Go down the stairs, south through the door, and read the note on the counter if you like.
Finally, head out of the flower shop.
Ancient Challenge and Test of the Frog
Before we deliver the Estrella to Rocco the Talking Boulder, we should go visit the other side of the fork.
Return to the fork at the bottom of the slope leading to the cliff. Go west past the bench to find a strange pedestal.

Interact with it and try taking the mask to unlock the Ancient Challenge in Dead Valley.
Follow the frog’s footprints all the way to the tree west of the bridge. Ram into this tree and then return to where the pedestal was.

This unlocks the temple entrance to the west, as well as a fast travel functionality (which is useless for now as we have only one exit).
Enter the temple to the west and once inside, approach the pedestal to the north.

We now need to find where the frog is. To do this, approach any of the stones and lean into them (push movement controls against the stone) to find out what they say.
Do not ram into a stone until you are certain the stone says ‘Ribbit’. If you are wrong, the position of the frog will change.

Once you find the ‘Ribbit’ stone, ram into it and then approach the pedestal to the north.
Take the mask to complete the Test of the Frog.

You are now ready to move on from Dead Valley, so head out of the temple.
Moving On
Rest until night time and make your way to Rocco the Talking Boulder. Mention that you got him the flower.

After the conversation, go to the locked gate north of Rocco and use the gate key from your inventory. Head on through to conclude this chapter.
