Lifted Walkthrough – Tortuga Isle & Tortuga Cave

Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough of Tortuga Isle and Tortuga Cave chapters in Lifted.

Lifted is a charming 2.5D indie game featuring platforming and environmental puzzle solving. The game revolves around stealing the Tiara of Nefertari so the Professor can finally confess his love to the woman he admires. You play as Ari, who helps him throughout the journey to find the legendary tiara. For more information about the game, check out its Steam page.

In the last walkthrough, we covered a few chapters up until the minecart escape. Now that the tiara has apparently been stolen by Blackbeard, you have traveled even further back in time. So, in this guide, we will provide you with a walkthrough of Tortuga Isle and Tortuga Cave in Lifted.

Lifted Walkthrough – Tortuga Isle

Now that you have traveled back in time, you have arrived at Tortuga Isle and must find Blackbeard’s hideout. The Professor has upgraded your shoes, allowing you to perform wall jumps. From here, head forward, mash the button that appears on your screen, and wall jump your way upward.

Continue ahead, climb the wall, and keep progressing forward. Eventually, you will come across a tall wooden wall that you must climb. Perform wall jumps to scale it, but be careful because there are vines along the way that you need to avoid. Your double jump will help you clear them safely.

From there, keep moving forward, and when it seems like you have reached a dead end, that is your cue to head downward. However, do not blindly jump off. Instead, use the wooden wall to slide down while avoiding the plants growing along the sides. Once you reach the bottom, continue ahead and perform another wall jump to climb back up.

Now that you are on the other side of the area, continue climbing higher by using the grappling hook. Then, combine wall jumps and double jumps to make your way upward before using the grappling hook once again to cross the next section.

Keep Progressing Through Tortuga Isle In Search Of Blackbeard’s Hideout

After crossing the section with the grappling hook, jump to grab the gap in the wall and continue moving forward. Keep climbing, and once you reach the top, you will start seeing greenery. Shortly afterward, you will be reunited with the Professor, who somehow manages to find shortcuts every single time.

As you continue forward, Ari will automatically slide through the mud, but you must jump over the plants ahead, so stay alert. If you manage to complete the entire slide without getting hit, you will unlock an achievement. Make sure your jumps are precise. There is no need to use a double jump here since a single jump is more than enough.

Once you reach the end of the slide, a cutscene will begin.

Exploring The Graveyard Of Pirate Ships

After the cutscene ends, continue moving to the right and use the grappling hook to pull the stones aside, opening the path ahead. Then continue forward and use the ropes to climb onto the massive stone structure. Once you are standing on the giant rock, use the grappling hook to pull the nearby tree toward you so you can use the hanging rope to swing across to the other side.

Continue onward, and you will eventually find another blocked path. Use the grappling hook once again to pull the tree into position. Then use the tree to move forward before climbing higher by using the gaps in the wall.

When you reach the end of the climb, jump toward the right to grab the rope. Swing across and grab the opening in the wall on the opposite side so you can continue climbing. Then move ahead and use another rope to make your way through this obstacle course.

A short cutscene will then begin, and afterward you will need to use the grappling hook to pull some bananas from the tree. Do so, and a cage will suddenly fall from above because it was all a trap. Another cutscene will begin, and once it ends, a chase sequence will immediately start.

Escape Blackbeard

After escaping from the cage, you now have to outrun Blackbeard, so as soon as the cutscene ends, start running. This section is not particularly difficult because you will mainly be focusing on jumping over obstacles. As soon as the chase begins, keep running, and once you start sliding, pay close attention because you do not want to crash into the plants.

Double jump is going to be your best friend throughout this chase, and do not forget to use the ropes because they are essential for progressing through the area. Also, do not worry about the cannonballs because they will not hit you.

Finally, once you reach the end of the chase, you will have to mash the button that appears on the screen. Press Triangle or Y if you are using a controller, or E if you are playing on a keyboard. After successfully escaping from the pirates, the Tortuga Isle chapter in Lifted will conclude and the next chapter, Tortuga Cave, will begin.

Lifted Walkthrough – Explore The Tortuga Cave

As you enter the cave, move ahead a little before dropping down, where you will have to solve a small puzzle. Grab the wooden box and push it forward slightly to activate the mechanism. Your goal is to activate the last two pressure plates at the same time. To do that, first activate the middle plate, then head up since you can now access the upper platform.

There is another box here that you now need to bring down. Push the box toward the left side, then head back down. Push the box from the middle pressure plate onto the one on the left. This will move the pink platform to the left, causing the other box to fall down.

Once that happens, push the first box onto the last pressure plate, then pull the second box that just fell down onto the middle plate. This will unlock the path ahead, so continue through it.

Head Through The Unlocked Path

Now continue ahead, and you will have to solve another puzzle. Head to the right and perform a wall jump to reach the upper platform. This puzzle can be a little confusing, so here is what you need to do. Push the first box onto the blue mechanism, then head back down. After that, climb the wall, continue ahead, and push the second box onto the green mechanism. Continue forward, pull the box on the right all the way to the far left, then head back left and remove the box from the green pressure plate.

Next, pull the box on the right even farther to the left before heading back to activate the green mechanism again. Then push the second box onto the green platform and remove the left box from the green pressure plate. Doing so will push the other box across to the opposite side of the area, leaving you with two boxes on the first platform.

Now head back and activate both the red and blue pressure plates to unlock the way forward. After doing that, head back down, climb the wall, then climb the wall on the left side and use a wall jump to continue upward. Proceed ahead, pull the box across to the other side, then push it into position and use it to jump across the gap.

Place the box on the first platform, then jump onto it to continue forward. As you progress, a cutscene will be triggered.

Use The Cannons To Unlock The Way Out

Slide down, cross the bridge, and continue ahead. As you do, you will come across yet another puzzle. Interact with the lever ahead and immediately jump onto the yellow platform to ride it upward. Once you reach the top, head left and interact with the lever again. This will cause the platform, or elevator, to descend.

Interact with the lever once more and quickly jump onto the elevator to ride it back to the top. Then pull the nearby box and place it onto the yellow platform. Activate the lever so the elevator moves back down. Ride it down with the box and pull the box into position.

Move to the opposite side of the box and push it onto the pressure plate. Jump onto it and perform a double jump to climb the wall ahead. Continue climbing to the top, and as you do, a wall will break open. Do not worry because this actually works in your favor.

Bring The Box Down

Activate the lever, then interact with it again once the platform reaches the top. Use the platform to head back down. After that, ride the elevator back up and pull the box inside it. Interact with the lever, and the elevator will descend again, so make sure you ride it down with the box.

The broken wall has opened another path that allows you to climb higher, so you can now take the box back down. Once the box is at the bottom, place it on the blue platform. Make sure to position it slightly toward the right so it will be easier to push later. Then head back up. Simply use the elevator to reach the top before heading left to continue climbing.

Unlock The Final Path In The Puzzle

Then activate the lever and pull the box onto the red pressure plate. Continue ahead, activate the lever again, head back down with the box, push it forward, and place it on the purple pressure plate.

Continue Through The Unlocked Path

Now that you have unlocked the path ahead, continue forward. Push the box to the end of the path and use it to jump across to the other side. Keep progressing ahead by jumping across platforms and climbing walls, and you will soon reach the cannon. Simply approach it and interact with it. A short cutscene will begin, featuring Ari firing the cannon.

Head To The Other Cannon

Now, as you have used one of the cannons, it is time to head to the next one. So, go right, jump, and use the hook. Then, perform a wall jump while avoiding the plant. Keep moving toward the right side while avoiding the plant.

Then, you will notice an upside-down boat-like object. Jump on it, move ahead, and head down while avoiding getting hit. Then, jump and use the hook to proceed further. After that, perform a wall jump, go ahead, jump on the upside-down boat, jump again, and use the hook once more.

Now, perform a wall jump and, from the left side, climb up while making sure not to get hit by the plant. From there, double jump to the right, and you will manage to grab the wall from the nearby bottom side. Head to the top, and slide down from the right side.

Now, when you land on the platform, ahead you will notice a blue platform. Jump on it and then interact with it. You will then go down and have to solve a puzzle.

Solve The Puzzle

To begin, push the box onto the yellow pressure plate, and a platform will come closer to you. Then, head right and move the box onto the green pressure plate. This will move another platform. You then need to continue further right and go down using the yellow platform.

When you are standing on the yellow platform, that is when you have to interact with the lever. Upon doing so, you will go down with the platform. Then, head left, interact with the purple lever to cross the path, and then interact with another purple lever to go down even further.

Bring A Box To Activate The Third Pressure Plate

Now, head right, go down, interact with the red lever, and then interact with the blue lever. Upon doing so, two platforms will switch places. When that happens, head left and pull the box onto the red platform. Then, interact with the red lever, and it will carry the box upward.

Then, head down, interact with the blue lever, go back up, pull the box, and take it back down. Then, push it toward the right side. After that, interact with the red lever to bring the red platform back down. Then, place the box on top of it, interact with the lever again, and jump so you go up with the box.

Then, take the box to the top and place it on the blue pressure plate. This will solve the puzzle.

Go Through The Unlocked Path

Now, head to the left, use the wooden wall to climb up, go right, and from the blue platform, proceed further by wall jumping and climbing. Then, continue ahead, and you will find the cannon. This will be the last cannon you have to shoot in this area.

So, once you have done that, the path to escape the cave will be unlocked.

Escape The Tortuga Cave

Ahead will be a white platform. Interact with its lever to head down the path. Then, from there, proceed further, as the professor will join you as well. Go through the unlocked path, and you will have finally escaped the cave. Once you are outside, continue ahead, jump onto the boxes, and when you are standing on top of the barrel, use the hook to pull a box.

As you keep progressing, do note that you will have to pull a barrel at the end of the platform. Then, when you are on the last barrel, you will have to double jump and use your hook to proceed. After that, there will be a green lever ahead. Interact with it and proceed further.

Then, when you are standing on top of the boxes, double jump and use the hook to reach the pirate boat. As you reach the boat, a cutscene will commence. The cutscene will feature you and the professor making your way through Blackbeard’s hideout. Then, after interacting with Blackbeard again, you will have to escape.

Escape Blackbeard Again

Double jump and use the hook to land on the platform. Keep going ahead, and you will get out of the pitch-dark area. Keep moving forward and then swing across the vines without touching the ground to earn an achievement. As you continue ahead, a cutscene will begin.

With that, the Tortuga Cave chapter will be over in Lifted, and you will arrive in the year 900 in Mexico.
