Little Nightmares 3 DLC – The Backstage Complete Walkthrough

Welcome to the Into Indie Games complete walkthrough of The Backstage DLC in Little Nightmares 3.

Little Nightmares 3 was released on October 10, 2035. The game did not receive much positive reception, mainly because its length was quite short and it was not as horror-focused as its predecessor. That said, a DLC called The Backstage was released recently, and so far its reception has been positive.

Here, in this guide, we will provide you with a complete walkthrough of The Backstage DLC in Little Nightmares 3. For more information about the DLC, check out its Steam page.

Little Nightmares 3 – The Backstage DLC Walkthrough

Once you have selected The Backstage and your character, a short cutscene will commence. When the cutscene ends, you will start controlling your character and will be introduced to a new mechanic. You can use R3 to toggle the Torch Hat, allowing you to see in the dark.

From there, go ahead and climb the box on the northeast side. Once you have done that, climb through the broken glass in the door and then head right. You do not have to wait for the AI here, as you can push the door yourself. Do so and proceed through the doorway.

Then, move ahead a little to the south and press Circle or B to flash. This will open the path ahead. Once you have opened the path, head right and flash again to open another route. Keep moving right and pick up the piece of cheese, as you will need to use it to press a button.

Press The Button Using The Cheese

Now, head back and, once you are in the room where you can see two small bulbs to the north, start moving north. Shortly afterward, you will see a button on the left side. In the base game, you could have shot it with the bow, but that is no longer the case here.

Instead, simply throw the cheese at the button and it will be pressed. You will need to aim carefully, so even if it takes a few attempts, that is perfectly fine. Once you have pressed the button, a ladder will appear for you, allowing you to climb up and continue forward.

Go up the ladder and, once you reach the upper floor, jump to the right side and go through the small passage you see. As you move ahead, you will notice a lever in the bathroom. This lever may have a purpose later on, but for now there is no use for it, so head back out and enter the room on the left.

Make Your Way Down To Proceed Further

Now, you have to make your way down using the lever that is located in the middle of the area where the ladder is. However, before doing that, you need to find an item first, so enter the room on the left. As soon as you enter, you will come across a puzzle that needs to be solved.

Solve The Puzzle

To solve the puzzle, you will need to pull down several lamps. There are four lamps in total. Two are located on the north side, one is on the east side, and one is on the west side. In order to open the path on the left side, you must activate them in the correct order.

To solve the puzzle, first pull down the middle-left lamp, then pull down the lamp on the far right. After that, pull down the middle-right lamp and finally pull down the lamp on the far left. Once you complete this sequence correctly, the path on the left side will open.

Head over there and pick up the piece of cheese, as you will need this item shortly. After picking up the cheese, go to the right side and throw it through the hole. Once you have done that, jump up and grab the lever to go down. Wait for the AI companion to jump as well, since the platform only descends when both of you are hanging from the lever.

Once you are at the bottom, head back to where the ladder is located. Your partner or the AI companion will need to pick up the second piece of cheese.

Use The Cheese To Push More Buttons

Now you need to use the cheese to press more buttons. To do that, head north and then move right. Along the north wall, you will see two buttons. You need to throw the cheese at both of them. If you are playing solo, do not worry, as the AI companion will also throw the cheese when needed.

However, if you are playing with a friend, then your friend will have to throw the second piece of cheese. Once both buttons have been pressed, the gate on the right side will open. Proceed through the gate and interact with the second column of lockers.

Pull the lockers together with your partner, and the entire column will slide open. You can now use the lockers as a ladder to climb upward. Once you reach the top, head toward the south side and then go right through the small passage. Continue forward, and you will soon see a ladder ahead.

Climb up the ladder and go through the vent to reach another room. From there, head south until you notice a wire running through two separate rooms. There will be electricity on the floor in the room on the left because of the water present there, so enter the room on the right instead.

With the help of your partner, jump up to reach the top of the cabinet. Once you are at the top, jump to the left and grab the lever, pulling it down completely.

Keep Going Ahead

Now that the electrical current is no longer passing through the wire, quickly head into the room on the left and immediately climb onto the table. This is important because the current will stop flowing only for a limited amount of time. You may hear a ticking sound while this happens. Once that ticking sound ends, the electricity will begin flowing through the wire again.

From the table, move right and jump across. Then use the vertical bars as a ladder to climb upward. Once you reach the top, use the wooden planks to move left and then jump onto the rope hanging on the left side. As you descend, do not jump immediately because the rope’s position may not be ideal and you could accidentally fall into the electrified area below.

Instead, swing on the rope for a moment and then jump onto the table on the left side. If the rope is already positioned toward the left, then you can jump without any concern. After that, wait for your partner or the AI companion to join you on the table. Once they are there, unlock the path ahead by pushing together.

Pick Up The Key And Open The Path Ahead

As you enter the next room, there will be a key located on the north side right next to the door. Jump up and grab the key, then move left. Wait for your partner or the AI companion to stand in position in front of the door. Once they are ready, jump and pull down the door lever to open it.

Afterward, use the same lever that you previously used to go down and descend once again. Then open the door on the right side. You can now unlock it using the key that you just collected.

After that, enter the room, head right, and go through the small passage. You will need to jump and climb through the opening in order to continue. Keep moving forward and, as you reach the end, you will have to open the vent ahead with the help of your partner or the AI companion.

A cutscene will then begin. Once it ends, both of you will have a light above your heads.

Head To The Elevator

Now that both of you have the light above your heads, head back and return to the previous room. On the north side of this room, you will find the elevator. The elevator door will not open normally, so press Circle or B and the door will open.

Head inside and work together with your partner or the AI companion. When the elevator reaches the bottom floor, head down, walk down the stairs, and enter the room on the right. The door will not be open, so you will need to open it by pressing Circle or B once again.

Strategically Make Your Way Ahead

Once the door is open, head left and repeat the same action to open the next door as well. Enter the room, and you will see a figure standing right next to the book. Press Circle or B again to get rid of it, then pick up the book. Once you have done that, head right, enter the next room, and throw the book into the chute.

Afterward, move north through the area and wait for your partner or the AI companion to get into position. Once they are ready, jump up and grab the rope. Swing on the rope and jump to the right side to pass through the opening. Then head down using the ladder and open the chute from this side. The book will be thrown out for you to collect.

Pick up the book and throw it toward the north side to press the button. Once you have done that, the gate will open, and your partner will be able to enter the area. Afterward, head right and enter the elevator. Together with your partner, pull down the lever and then wait for the cutscene to finish.

Keep Progressing

Once you reach the next area, head right and then move south. Keep in mind that as you head south, a small black creature will appear. Press Circle or B to get rid of it. From there, head right and continue moving forward. It is worth noting that additional creatures may appear, so you will need to repeat the process whenever necessary.

As you continue toward the right side, do not go north because there is nothing useful there. Instead, head south. There will be several more of these creatures in the area. Take care of them first before proceeding. A lot of them will appear, but you will be able to flash them with no issue. Once they have been dealt with, work together with your partner to jump up and grab the door lever, unlocking the path ahead.

Continue forward, head north, and then enter the room on the right side. From there, move into the small area located on the north side and, together with your partner, jump onto the hatch. Then head south and move right to pass through the small passage.

At the top of the area, you will see the main boss of the DLC. Simply continue heading right and climb up the ladder.

Head Up The Stairs

Once you have climbed the ladder on the right side, you will notice a set of stairs. Head up the stairs and, when you reach the top, head left and follow the path. Once you reach the dead end, climb onto the chair on the left side and enter through the small passage on the left.

Head left from there, and you will drop into a bedroom. On the left side of the room, you will see a small black creature trying to fit something into a door. The creature will then run toward you, so use the light to get rid of it. After that, pick up the same object and place it inside the door to activate the mechanism.

This will unlock the door, so go through it. Use the light to open the elevator door on the north side and then, with the help of your partner, activate the elevator. Also, make sure you bring the item that unlocked the door with you, as you will need it to unlock another door later.

Use The Item To Unlock Another Door

Once you have reached the bottom using the elevator, head south and enter the first room on the right side. Head right from there and, with the help of your partner, open the door. Once the door is open, head right, go up only the first flight of stairs, and then place the item inside the door mechanism to activate it.

This door will open as well, so go inside. From there, continue heading right, climb onto the table, climb through the window, and pass through it. You are now entering the territory of the boss you saw earlier, so as soon as you step onto the white carpet, crouch and proceed carefully.

Remain crouched while moving forward. On the right side, there will be a drawer that you and your partner can pull out. Pull the drawer and then use it to climb onto the shelf and reach the top. From there, move right and, as you drop down, the boss will enter the room.

Avoid The Boss And Keep Moving To Proceed

As the boss walks a little farther ahead, come out and hide underneath the table. Make sure you stay crouched while moving around the room. Once she walks toward the cabinet on the right side, that is your cue to move right and enter the next room.

Continue moving right and, when you enter the next room, climb onto the table to pick up the item. Then climb back down and place the item inside the circuit on the right side. Once you have done that, climb back onto the table, move right, and hang from the lever.

Wait for your partner to do the same. This will trigger a small alarm. As soon as the alarm sounds, drop down and hide inside the hiding spot located on the north side of the room.

Retrieve The Item

The boss will then come over and pick up the item, meaning you now have to retrieve it. Head left and wait for her to return to the sewing machine. Once she does, move around the side behind her and climb onto the table to take the item back.

Now, do not make the mistake of returning the same way you came. The reason is that the boss will be moving toward the right side of the room. Instead, follow the path on top of the table from the left side, drop down, and then hide behind the table in the middle.

Wait for the boss to move toward the left side. She will remain near the sewing machine in the middle for a short period of time before doing so. Once she finally heads left, move right and place the item inside the circuit located to the north.

Doing so will open the elevator for you. With the help of your partner, activate the elevator and ride it up, escaping from the boss for the moment.

Keep Proceeding While Avoiding The Boss

It may seem like you have escaped the boss, but that is not the case because she will follow you upstairs. You will notice two separate hiding spots, one on the right side and one on the left side. Hide in one of them while your partner hides in the other.

The boss will then open the door on the right side. When she does, carefully follow her while staying crouched.

Move ahead and hide behind the basket. Remain hidden until you see her turning her head to look behind her. Once she does that, wait for her to turn back around and then move right. Hide behind the object directly ahead. If she is not looking behind her, continue moving right.

Pick Up The Key To Unlock The Door At The Left Side

With the help of your partner, jump up and climb onto the table. Once there, pick up the key. After you have the key, head back. You will need to make your way behind that same basket again. There is no need to rush. Only move when you are sure it is safe.

Wait for the boss to focus on what she is doing and then move left. Continue moving left and unlock the door using the key you just picked up. On the left side, you will find two blocks. Use these blocks to press the buttons located on the north side.

Once both buttons have been pressed, the path on the left side will open. Go through it and enter the next room. In this room, you will see several hooks moving across the area. Jump and grab one of the hooks while standing inside the room. If you try to grab it from outside on the left side, you will not have enough leverage and may fail to reach it.

When the hook carries you into the next room, drop down. On the southeast side, you will see a hatch. Jump on it together with your partner, and it will open. The item that helped you unlock the earlier doors will also fall down, so make sure to pick it up before moving on.

Keep Avoiding The Boss To Make Your Way Ahead

The boss is still chasing you, so immediately hide underneath the table in the middle of the room. Wait for the boss to open the door on the left side and patrol the area. Once she is finished and moves away, open the door with the help of your partner and enter the elevator.

Again, with the help of your partner, activate the elevator and ride it down.

Once you reach the bottom, head right, and you will come across another mechanism that requires the same item you used to unlock the previous doors. Place the item inside the mechanism and, once the animation is complete, head back into the elevator and ride it back up.

After that, head out, pick up the item on the left side, and throw it at the button. This will allow the elevator to travel upward. Once you have reached the top, open the door on the right side using the item and continue moving right.

Then head south and, with the help of your partner, open the vent on the right side.

Solve The Puzzle

As you enter the room on the right side, you will come across a puzzle that must be solved in order to proceed. The first thing you need to do is climb the ladder and rotate the wheel at the top.

You can find hints for solving the puzzle throughout this room by using your flash ability. Pay close attention to the clues that appear, as they will help you determine the correct solution.

However, if you are having trouble solving the puzzle, do not worry. We will explain exactly how to complete it. Below is a table that will help you understand the solution more clearly.

In the table above, X basically means that you do not have to step on that plate. You only need to step on the plates marked with O. So, the correct plates are the second plate in the first column, the third plate in the second column, the second plate in the third column, and the fourth plate in the final column.

Keep Proceeding

Once you have solved the puzzle, head right and use the flash ability to open the door. Then head right and move north. There will be a pressure plate there. Have your partner stand on it while you climb up the north side and retrieve the item.

Once you have done that, head back into the puzzle room (along the way you will have to use Flash to take care of the creatures). The same creatures will begin moving toward you again. Use the flash ability to deal with them. There will be quite a few of them, around ten in total, and they will approach from different directions.

To make things easier, stay in the middle of the room and use your Flash whenever they get close. Once you have dealt with all of them, use the Flash to open the door on the left side.

After that, head north, then left, and go through the door on the left side. Jump through the doorway, continue forward, and you will eventually see a lever located near the middle of the north side of the room. Activate it with the help of your partner and then head back inside the elevator.

Head To The Bottom

Activate the elevator and, once it stops, head out. Pick up the item from the left side and throw it at the button. Then activate the elevator again. Doing so will allow you to travel farther down.

Once you reach the bottom, head right into the room and insert the item that you picked up from behind the painting. This will open the path to the north.

Go through the newly opened path and pull open the vent on the right side. Then hop through the passage, climb the ladder, and continue forward using the plank. Climb across to the right side, use the next plank to move south, climb upward, enter the vent, and continue ahead. Exit the vent, drop down, and open the vent on the right side.

As soon as you do, you will enter the room where the boss is located.

Save Low

Wait for the boss to bend down and exit the room. When she does, climb onto the table on the northeast side and pull the lever down. Your partner should then grab Low, although if you are playing with the AI companion, it will do this automatically.

As you rescue Low, the boss will enter the room once again, so you will need to run immediately.

Head right through the room and, with the help of Low, both you and your partner must pull down the lever. Then the boss will manage to get her head inside and stop Low. You will have to use Flash instantly, and Low will hit the boss. Then, a cutscene will begin. Once it ends, simply move forward, and you will reach the mirror.

As you go through the mirror, a cutscene will commence, and The Backstage DLC will conclude. With that, the complete walkthrough of Little Nightmares 3 DLC, The Backstage, comes to an end.
