Table of contents
The Car and the Path to the Hotel
- As you begin the game by your car, go ahead and interact with the car.

- Use the Car Key from your inventory on it and then look in the glove compartment.
- Inside, you’ll find a very helpful instruction booklet, and a letter. Access both so that they get stored in your photographic memory. Also check out the photograph that falls out of the instruction manual.
- Before moving on to the hotel, go right from the car and check out the map and information board here.

- Now return to the car and proceed down the path to the left.
- You will encounter a fork here – the path to the right goes to a locked cemetery. Ignore it for now.
- Go straight ahead to find another fork. The left path here goes to a caravan that you can’t do anything with right now.
- Follow the path to the right to get to the bridge in front of the hotel.

The Front Gate and the Gatehouse
- Proceed to the front gate and then take a right to get a letter from the dog.
- This letter has a clue for you: find the year.

- If you read the letter that you found in the glove compartment, you’ll learn that the letter was sent in 1962, and you were expected to arrive the year after that. Therefore, the year is 1963.
- Go left from the front gate to find the gatehouse door. Interact with it and enter the code 1963.
- Enter the gatehouse now. Pick up the handheld gaming device (BSGS) to the right.

- You can use the computer to save and load your game, apart from other features.
- Then, check out the electrical cabinet to the right of the computer. It’s locked with a code as well.
- Interact with the pin board to the left of the computer. You’ll get another clue in the letter on the pin board, that your journey starts 116 years in the past.
- If you use a calculator (your BSGS has one too), you’ll learn that 1963 – 116 = 1847.
- So enter 1847 as the code to the electrical cabinet to unlock it.

- Another puzzle awaits in the electrical panel beyond. You need to combine three numbers to create the number 2014.
- The numbers change with every playthrough, so you’ll have to calculate this one on your own.

- Once the front gate is open, exit the gatehouse and enter the front garden through the front gate.
The Front Garden
- Here, you can examine the various statues to learn their titles. Also be sure to pick up the American dollar in the vase as shown below.

- You’ll find another American dollar by going through the gateway to the northwest corner of the garden, and then looking to the left of the bench there.

- Before heading for the hotel’s front door, go to the southwest of the garden, where you’ll find some blood spots leading into the second room of the gatehouse.
- Enter this room. The shortcut here is locked, but you can access the surveillance monitor. Do so.
- Adjust the controls with your direction pad or keys to clear the image and find a man at the gate.
- Now exit this room and go right back out of the front gate, towards the gatehouse.
- You’ll find a top hat on the bench near the gatehouse. Interact with it and check out the calling card of Lorenzo the Great.
The Front Door of Hotel Letztes Jahr
- Now, finally, we can enter the hotel. Head to the hotel’s front door – which is locked, of course – and instead interact with the keypad to its right.
- The clue here is the number of spots on the keypad’s buttons. If you go in ascending order of spots, you’ll find the keypad’s code.

- The solution is the same as for the electrical panel before: 1847.
- With the front door open, you can finally enter Hotel Letztes Jahr.
