Welcome to our walkthrough for Chapter 3 of Luto. After the events of the last chapter, Sam finds himself back in his house. But even on familiar grounds, things are not as normal as they seem initially.
This chapter will have you navigate even more weirdness as you find your way out of a time loop.

In Familiar Territory

You’ll find yourself back in your house in front of the broken mirror in your bathroom. Exit the door and walk down the upstairs corridor.

Note that the first door that comes up on your left is locked.

Keep moving along the corridor and pick up the Script Page note from the cabinet on your right.
Inspecting the page in your inventory reveals that it narrates the events for Sam for each passing day. The bottom section is scratched off and replaced with the sentence “GO TO YOUR ROOM.” Also, the section “Title: Friday” is underlined.

As you go down the stairs, the narrator says, “Sam gets ready to go to work as usual. A new day awaits him.”

You’ll find your grandmother Dolores’ Chest on the table downstairs as usual. Head towards the main door, pick up your Home Keys, and exit the house.
Something Is Wrong

When you exit the house, the game cuts to black and shows Tuesday. You find yourself back at the start. You’ll even see the title screen for Chapter 3 as you exit the bathroom.
Move along like before, and pick up the script page from the cabinet. The narrator speaks up again, saying the same thing when you reach the stairs.
Hmm… something certainly feels off.

Downstairs, go to the phone table to collect your Home Keys and exit the house. The game cuts to black and shows Wednesday.
Breaking the Time Loop

If you haven’t caught on already, you’re stuck in a time loop, and the same events will keep repeating themselves no matter how many times you try to leave the house. You’ll have to break out of the time loop to progress the story.
The clue is hidden in the script page you keep finding. The page tells you to go to your room, and the only room that you can interact with in the house is the locked door upstairs on the left.

Keep exiting the house to pass through the days until you reach Friday. Interact with the door, and it’ll open.
Inside the Bedroom

As you enter the bedroom, the door behind you shuts off and gets locked. So you’re stuck here for the time being. Take some time looking around the room.
Pick up the Sketchbook Sheet beside the computer monitor.

There’s a bulletin board on the right with a missing slot for a drawing. Interact with it and choose the Drawing of the Monkey Bros item in your inventory.
There’s a TV showing an old movie beside the bulletin board. You can watch it play out, and you’ll get an achievement/trophy if you let it play through till the end.

On the bed, you’ll see another Monkey Doll. Interact with it and place Isaac’s Monkey beside it from your inventory.
The screen will start to glitch, and you’ll hear a sound. Turn around to see that the bulletin board has fallen off.

Turn towards the bed, and you’ll see that the monkey dolls have disappeared. A sticky note on a paper on the bed has the writing “They Love to Hide.”
Finding the Hiding Monkeys
This part is a simple hidden object puzzle requiring you to find the Monkey Dolls as they teleport around the room. You need to zoom in on the Monkey Dolls each time you find them.
Once both the monkey dolls have disappeared off the bed, look toward the computer. You’ll find them sitting on the books above the monitor. Look away, and the screen will glitch again, meaning the Monkey Dolls have teleported.

Look up towards the ceiling fan, and you’ll find them hanging above you. Zoom in, turn away, and they will teleport once again.

Turn towards the trash bin under the bulletin board next to find the two Monkey Dolls again.

To spot them one final time, look at the bookshelf beside the TV set.

Interact with them, and you’ll see a creepy eyeball pop up on your screen.

You can now walk out of the bedroom through the open door. But you’ll notice some weird blurriness and swaying on the screen.
Continue moving towards the main door downstairs. Pick up the Home Keys from the Phone Table and exit the house.
This Is Wrong

The screen will cut to black again once you exit the house, and instead of showing you the day of the week, it will show the chapter name. You’ll find yourself back in the upstairs bathroom.

Exit the bathroom and turn the corner of the corridor, and the screen will again turn black. Once the light comes back up, it’ll turn into night.

Approach the staircase to hear someone knocking on the main door. Go downstairs to find a Flashlight. Pick it up and use it to navigate the dark areas of your house.
Turn right and find a card on the table on your right.

Walk towards the main door. Pick up the Sketchbook Sheet from the door.
You can’t open the main door. If you try going into the basement, the ghost from earlier chapters will close it quickly.
Solving the House Puzzle

With no clear way forward, your only clue lies within the Sketchbook Sheet you picked up just now. It shows you a drawing with the text “Behind the Moon.”
You can flip the page over to see a creepy-looking eye inside the moon.

Head back up the stairs and start making your way through the corridor. You’ll see a white radiator on your left with four pictures hanging on the wall.

One of these pictures shows a moon. Interact with it.

The picture falls off, revealing a crack on the wall. Interact with it to find a key.

Go downstairs and use the key to unlock Dolores’ Chest. Inside, you’ll find a miniature wooden door. Pick it up.

Head towards the main door to find that the door has disappeared.

Keep walking through the dark tunnel, and eventually, you’ll see a light at the end of it. You’ll also catch a glimpse of a figure quickly scurrying away out of sight.
Continue along the path. You’ll find another Word Card on a cart on your left up ahead.

You’ll find yourself back in the cave from Chapter 2.

Keep moving forward, and you’ll see a door in the distance. Walk towards it and interact with the box.
Open the door to arrive at the house from the second chapter.
Just Another Bad Dream

Once you get inside the house, the narrator will say that it’s just another bad dream. At this point, you’ll hear the phone ringing.
Make your way back to the Phone Table and answer the call. The same ominous voice will start talking.
Once the phone call ends, the narrator tells you not to trust the stranger. On top of that, the screen will start to shrink like it did at the start of the game.

Keep pressing the button to resist and start making your way through the house, trying to find a way out.
Things get complicated, however, as the doors keep shutting down as you approach them.
To escape, you’ll have to first go to the room with the chandelier. Use the Flashlight to navigate through the darkness.

From here, go up the stairs to the living room. Take the door on your left and go through the door on the other side. There’s another door on the far end. Interact with it.

You’ll get pushed back immediately as a shadowy figure floats just beyond the door. The screen will start shaking. Continue resisting as you try to move towards the open door.
Once you manage to reach the opening, interact with the shadowy figure. A short cutscene will start to play.

Once it ends, go through the open door. There’s a ladder at the end of the room. Walk towards it.
As soon as you get near, the narrator says “Stop,” and you lose control of the game. The game automatically kicks you out as the narrator says what you did wasn’t right.
Back to the Start?

When you restart the game, you’ll see one of the shadowy figures floating above the screen in the main menu has turned white. Press Continue to get back in the game.

You’ll find yourself back in the desert. However, this time, you can see a white shadow in the distance. Walk towards it while resisting the sandstorm.
It will disappear. Keep moving, and the screen will shrink to black.
You’ll find yourself back in front of the broken mirror. Walk out and start moving towards the lower floor.

As you reach the stairs, the screen will glitch out. Continue moving down the stairs. The stairs will seem endless.

Turn on the Flashlight once things turn dark and keep going down. Eventually, you’ll find a hole at the bottom of the stairs. Interact with it and choose to go down.
