Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a chance to step back into Snake’s legendary origin story, rebuilt with breathtaking visuals and modern controls. The dense jungle, tense stealth encounters, and survival mechanics all return, but this time they feel more immersive than ever.
In this part of the walkthrough, we go back Groznyj Grad and fight Volgin. We have also included the locations of the Kerotan Frogs and Gako Ducks 48-52.

Tikhogornyj
Once your Codec call with EVA ends, you’ll be free to explore the area. The layout changes depending on whether you removed the Transmitter earlier. If it’s still inside you, the entire zone will be swarming with Ocelot Unit soldiers, locked in a constant Caution state. You’ll need to stay hidden and carefully sneak your way forward. But if you already removed the Transmitter, the area will be completely deserted.
Kerotan Frog 48
Turn to the left and look at the water. You will see a frog. Use the fork to strike it.

From the starting point, head to the right and stick close to the wall. Keep following it until you come across a log bridge. Cross over and continue moving upstream along the river. If you still have the Transmitter, there will be a guard nearby. Go prone and crawl along the cliff edge—only move when his back is turned.

Once you make it past him, the waterfall will be in sight. At this point, even if you’re spotted, you can just sprint straight toward it. If you dive in the water near the waterfall you can find the facepaint Kabuki. Slip behind the waterfall to trigger the next cutscene.

Tikhogornyj: Behind Waterfall
Watch the cutscenes play out. If you kept the Transmitter, you’ll unlock an extra scene afterward where EVA removes it from Snake—though that’s not the only thing that happens. If you trigger it, just sit back and watch. When the cutscene wraps up, head back to Tikhogornyj for Gako Duck 48.
Tikhogornyj
Gako Duck 48
Just outside the waterfall look to the left of the waterfall. Along the wall is a duck.

Go back behind the waterfall.
Tikhogornyj: Behind Waterfall (revisit)
Move down the hallway and collect the supplies along the way—disinfectant, styptic, a suppressor, a bandage, and some ammo.
Gako Duck 49
Further up, on the right you can find a Gako Duck behind a steel gate.

At the far end, you’ll also find a Cardboard Box. After that, head through the nearby door to pick up a Ration.
Kerotan Frog 49
Turn left into the room. Look up at the left towards the pipes to see a Frog.

Then climb the ladder to continue.
Grozynj Grad Northwest
Climbing the ladder brings you back into Groznyj Grad. A cutscene will trigger where a guard drives a vehicle over your exit point. From here, you’ve got a fairly straightforward path forward. Head toward the door along the far wall to move into the next area. Before you go, make sure your equipment is properly set up if you haven’t done so already.

Grozynj Grad Southwest
Go straight through and take the door on the left.
Grozynj Grad Northeast
In this area, wait until the guards are not moving or facing your direction, then slip across the road to the other side. At the end, turn left and quietly deal with the guard patrolling the alley.
From here, it’s a straight path to the lab. Before stepping inside, equip your Scientist disguise and ready the Cigarette Spray once again.

Grozynj Grad Weapons Lab: East Wing
Your goal now is to return to the same area you infiltrated while disguised as Raikov. The path is fairly straightforward—head straight up and make your way inside. Once you enter, turn left immediately and follow the hallway to the stairs at the far end. Go up, through the door, and then head toward the archway at the end of the room. Make sure you take the archway that connects to another room, not the one leading across the bridge. This brings you back to the spot where you hid Raikov’s body.

Check the locker you used earlier and you’ll find the Sneaking Suit, a nod to Metal Gear Solid 2. You’ll also notice a poster for the game inside. The Sneaking Suit works like Body Armor from the previous titles, reducing damage taken—so it’s highly recommended to keep it equipped for the upcoming battles.

Before leaving, search the lockers for the Maintenance Uniform—it’s in the second locker from the left at the far end.

Once you’ve collected it, equip both the Maintenance Uniform and the C3, then proceed through the door into the next room.
Grozynj Grad Weapons Lab: Main Wing
When you enter, a cutscene plays of Snake unlocking the hangar door. Shortly after, you’ll get a Codec call from Zero. Before going through, head to the left and through the door at the end to Grozynj Grad Weapons Lab: West Wing Corridor.
Grozynj Grad Weapons Lab: West Wing Corridor
Gako Duck 50
Go to the far end and look out the window on the left.

Kerotan Frog 50
Move to the left and took out the window towards the loudspeaker pole.

Go back to the Main Wing and down the stairs.
Grozynj Grad Weapons Lab: Main Wing
You need to locate the fuel tanks. The fuel tanks themselves are easy to spot: tall, greenish, rectangular machines. As you move through the area, be especially cautious around the maintenance workers. Go up the stairs.

Gako Duck 51
Step to the left and look up.

Go down the stairs to the bottom floor. Carefully move around the hangar and plant the C3 when you find a safe opening—just make sure you’re not spotted while doing it.
The four fuel tanks are located in these spots:
First Fuel Tank
In the far corner directly opposite the entrance. It’s tucked into a dark spot between the wall and a crate.

Second Fuel Tank
From there, cross the room to the opposite corner. This one is also near a crate, with the area a bit dimly lit. There’s a maintenance worker there.

Third Fuel Tank
Head to the stairs just behind. Go up, and you’ll find the last one almost directly opposite the first tank.

Kerotan Frog 51
There is a maintenance worker here. Take him out. Look behind the railing here.

Fourth Fuel Tank
Lastly, go down and straight ahead and look to the left wall.

Now watch the cutscene play out.
Boss Fight: Volgin
You’ll only have five minutes to take down Volgin once the battle begins. Throughout the fight, Ocelot will occasionally toss Snake supplies—make sure to grab them whenever you can. Volgin’s primary attack is firing lightning from his fists. With good timing, you can go prone to let the bolts pass right over you. You can also use CQC to slam him to the ground, leaving him open for extra damage.

Another move to watch out for is when he charges himself and then rushes around trying to punch you. Keep your weapon unequipped and circle the arena to avoid his swings. He also has a ranged attack where he charges electricity into bullets and fires them at you. You’ll know it’s coming when he electrifies his body and raises one arm to the sky—when this happens, keep moving to avoid getting hit.

When the screen shifts to a light blue tint, Volgin has fully electrified himself. In this state, he’s immune to frontal gunfire, and carrying a weapon makes you more vulnerable to his lightning. Unequip your gun, dodge his attacks, and look for a chance to slip behind him—striking from the rear is the best way to deal damage while he’s standing still.
At 50% HP a scene will play out. Volgin will have some new moves now. He surrounds himself with a lightning field and explodes after a few seconds. Be sure not to shoot at him during this time or be near him. You’ll need to be prone to avoid this attack, also. The best time to do damage to Volgin is when he goes back to the electric panel to recharge, as he’ll turn his back to you.

He’ll gain another attack where he now shoots two beams of lightning from his hands, but you can also be prone under this attack as well. For his final attack, Volgin will run in the center of the room and put his hands on the ground, causing electric currents to run through the ground. You’ll need to roll over this to avoid it.
Gako Duck 52
You can find a duck on the right above a grilled off machine.

Kerotan Frog 52
If you look at the right side, towards the top. Near 3 crates you can find a frog.

Keep CQC-ing Volgin whenever you have an opening and he will go down. You get the Cold War uniform, if you take him down non-lethally.
