Unlocking The Slingshot Ability

Make your way back to the Vaults Attuner. You’ll have to take the shuttle from Promenade Entrance and go through the pipe on the left section of the area to reach the Attuner.
From here, continue heading left. Go all the way to the left to reach the large icy chamber from the previous part of our walkthrough.

Instead of entering the drawer on the right, climb up the left-side wall to the top to enter a pipe.

The pipe leads you to a large room. The main path continues up along the grate, but before you go there, head to the right.

You’ll find a Nacre Basin past a flying enemy. Just past it, there’s an opening that you head through.

This takes you to a small cave. Wait for the moving spike to go right. Then crawl along the wall and drop down to hit the bomb as the spike passes you by to the left. Then go right to land on a ledge.

Pick up the item to collect the High-Risk Voucher Modifier.

Make your way back to the previous room. Scale up the grate and jump to the left. Glide across to reach the platform, but make sure to avoid the moving spike above you.

Head left. When the spike moves up, scale the wall and jump to the bomb on the right. Pogo on it to refill energy and scale up the wall to reach the ceiling.

Next, scale across the ceiling, use the bomb to refill energy, and wait for the spike in front of you to move away. Then quickly go across and drop down.

Continue heading forward. Stop just before the Junk Pile. There’s another moving spike here that you’ll need to watch out for.

When the spike moves away, go forward, jump up, and use the grapple point to launch yourself to the right past the spike.

Strike the bomb below you to refill your energy and use the grapple point below the spike to pass forward.

Strike the next bomb to refill your energy, jump up, and use the grapple point to the right to reach another platform.

From here, wait for the spike on the right to go down, then scale across the ceiling.

Drop down through the hole to reach a grapple point. Strike it to refill your energy, and glide to the platform on the right.

Run to the right and jump to the platform across the gap to find some Crystallized Nacre. Drop down to the floor below afterward.

Continue forward into the large room and run to the end.

The door on the other side will open, and an enemy will spawn in the room. It’s not a boss, but it has a ton of HP. Take it down, and the door will open.

Continue forward to reach a room with a purple barrier on the floor. Head past it to find a Strange Tube. Pick up the Letter from Tomo from the ground and interact with the Strange Tube to talk to Samsk and unlock a new ability, Slingshot.

Slingshot lets you break those purple barriers you’ve been seeing. You need to hit a grapple point or energy shard toward the barrier to weaken it. Then strike it to break the barrier. Complete the tutorial section.

After the tutorial segment, use the grapple point on the left to break the purple barrier below, unlocking a shortcut back to the Vaults Attuner.
Progressing Through The Vaults

From the Vaults Attuner, head right. Drop down to the lower floor of the robot manufacturing station and continue heading right to reach the purple barrier you saw earlier.

Break the door and head inside. Call the elevator. Use it to go to L1: Vaults Entrance.

Once you reach the top, go into the room on the right. You’ll have to fight another one of those tanky robots from earlier.

When it’s down, go through the door on the right. Use the grapple point to spot another purple barrier on the right. Use the grapple point to break the barrier.

Make your way through the room with moving spikes. Compared to the other parkour sections, this one is pretty straightforward.

Eventually, you’ll drop to the lower level. Go left.

Drop down again in front of a flying enemy. Continue moving left.

You’ll spot a grapple point below you. Drop through the floor.

Open the door on the left to unlock a shortcut back to the elevator you used to go to the Vaults Entrance earlier. Take a few steps to the right to trigger a boss battle.
How to Beat Sawlong

Unlike the other battles in the game, Sawlong is a platforming challenge. The boss will chase you through the zone, and all you can do is keep moving forward. But don’t worry; we’ll guide you through all the platforming sections to make things easier.
Sawlong Chase First Section

From the first platform, do a double jump and glide to the bomb on the right. Use the bomb to refill your energy and glide to the platform on the right.

Continue running and jump past the next spike.

For the next bit, double jump past the spike and glide across to the bomb. Strike it and then keep gliding to the right. The spikes will break to clear a path for you, and you can land on a platform.

Double jump above the platform and strike the grapple point to refill your energy and reach the next platform.

Jump to the disappearing platform and double jump up to the next platform. You’ll then have to jump down a hole and continue running for a bit.

Pogo off the bomb and jump to the next platform.

Double jump to the flying robot and pogo off it to refresh your jump. Jump again to the bomb on the right and refill your energy. Quickly grab the grate on the background and continue moving.

Pogo off the bomb, and use the disappearing platforms to get across. Grab the grates right afterwardsand keep running to the right.

Hit the bomb below you and keep scaling to the right.

You’ll land on a safe platform. Jump to the right and grab the next set of grates and continue scaling to the right. Don’t worry about refilling the energy for now. Just keep going right and up, and you’ll be able to enter a pipe.

Go to the end of the pipe, and the pipe will fall, dropping you into a pool of gloomwater. Jump to the platform on the right and quickly grapple up to a safe zone.
That’s the first part of the Sawlong boss fight done and dusted. You’re safe here for now.

Continue moving forward through the zone. You’ll find some Junk Pile here and a Nacre Basin that you can use to refill your health if needed.

You’ll also have to break a purple barrier to progress through the zone.

Continue moving forward, and as you reach the upper section and pass underneath a set of spikes, the second part of the chase will begin.
Sawlong Chase Second Section

As you jump off the platform, let yourself fall and pogo off the first robot. Use Hairpin on the second robot to launch yourself forward.

Then bounce off the bomb and grapple onto the floating robot on the top right.

Bounce off another bomb and use the grapple once again to pass the next section.

Finally, bounce off another bomb and use the grapple point to reach solid ground.

Bounce off the bomb and continue moving forward. You’ll land on a set of steel grates that will break.

Use your Striders to grab the surface and continue moving.

After dropping down to a patch of land, continue running right. As you get near the lake, jump up and start scurrying across the ceiling.

You’ll have to hit two bombs as you keep moving forward to refill your energy.

After the second bomb, you’ll have to jump a gap. There’s a bomb right below you that you can use to reset your Striders.

Keep moving left past the spikes as you head down. There’s another bomb that you can strike.

After hitting this bomb, you’ll want to glide down through the tunnel. There’s another bomb at the bottom. Pogo off it to refill your energy.

Jump again to the right and use Hairpin on the grapple point to launch yourself forward.

You’ll land on a grate that will fall after a moment. Hit the bomb below you.

Stride along the ceiling, and when you see a few bombs up ahead, you’re almost near the end. Drop down and hit one of the bombs.

Keep grappling forward and refilling your energy using the bombs until you reach the end.

Step on the grate and you’ll fall into a room below.

From here, go right to enter a large room. You’ll see the boss’s HP bar appear, and Sawlong will fall through the ceiling.

Give him a few whacks, and the boss will be defeated.
Mending The Lab Torn Overseer

After defeating Sawlong, head right to enter a large empty room. This room doesn’t hold much other than a few Junk Piles and a Crystallised Nacre at the bottom right corner.

When you’re ready, head to the top right corner of the area. You’ll have to use your Striders to crawl across the ceiling from the entrance of the area.

Continue heading right to enter The Lab. Drop down on the right, and after a long fall, you’ll reach another large chamber.

Go right and jump to the elevated platform in the center. From here, jump to the right and go up along the wall.

You’ll reach a doorway up ahead. Go through it. There’s a Crystallised Nacre on the platform just below the broken bridge.

Drop down along the left side of the room to fall on a grate. You’ll find a Pearl Record here. Pick it up.

Go to the right and start scaling the wall. Use the floating platforms in between to refill your energy as you keep heading up.

At the top, enter the doorway and run down the long corridor.

Scale the right-side wall and crawl along the ceiling as quickly as you can.

You’ll find a flower up ahead that you can strike to refill your energy.

Keep crawling forward until you reach a platform on the left. The door is locked, so don’t worry about it.

Scale up the left-side wall this time to reach a new location at the top.

Run to the right and drop down off the edge to find the Torn Overseer for Lab. Interact with it.

Continue scaling up along the right-side wall. You’ll eventually reach an area with low gravity.

From here, go up the wall and head right to spot a hole. Go through the hole.

There’s a path right below you. But for now, go all the way to the right.

Go through the door up ahead to reach the shuttle room. This shuttle takes you to the <redacted> zone that’s accessible from The Severed Spine.

Keep going right to find the Lab Attuner. It’s a good idea to return to The Severed Spine and get any upgrades you want from Mel before you move on to the next part of our walkthrough. We’ll be going up against The Hand after this.
