MIO: Memories in Orbit Walkthrough Part 11 – The Hand, The Spine & Ending

mio walkthrough

Welcome to the last part of our walkthrough for MIO: Memories in Orbit.

As we’ve made our way around to the Lab, the final confrontation against The Hand is just around the corner. After this, the only Pearl left is The Spine, which isn’t as far as you might think.

This is part of our MIO: Memories In Orbit Walkthrough Hub, so we suggest starting there if you haven’t already.

Confronting Dr. Halyn

From the Lab Attuner, start backtracking to the left. Run to the dropdown you passed by earlier as you dropped through the hole above.

Keep progressing along the path till you drop down to a large room with some books.

Go to the right to spot a door. Open the door and head through it.

As you take a few steps inside, Dr. Halyn grabs you again.

He carries you to a platform in the middle of the room. After the cutscene, a boss fight begins.

How to Beat Anra, Anti-Rat Weapon

Anra is a robot controlled by Dr. Halyn with two distinct fighting modes.

The first mode is the Melee Mode where the boss weilds a sword. Here’s a quick look at all the attacks you need to watch out for:

  • Rising Slash: From the ground, the Anra will slash behind itself and then rise up into the air.
  • Dash Attack: Anra will dash horizontally across the arena, slashing as she dashes.
  • Spinning Slash: From the air, Anra will spin in the air and move toward the player
  • Slam Attack: From the air, Anra will slam down on the ground, slashing the area in front of her.
  • Three-hit combo: When on the ground, Anra will perform a three-hit combo attack while stepping forward.

Thankfully, all of these attacks can be evaded with a well-timed dodge. What makes the fight tricky is that the boss constantly keeps moving around the arena, which can make it difficult to close the distance and deal damage to it.

Use Hairpin to get close to the boss and try to stick close to hit to deal as much damage as possible. Keep your dodge ready to weave through its attacks and continue striking.

Once you deal enough damage to it, Dr. Halyn will summon an energy crystal that will create a barrier around Anra. The boss is invulnerable at this point. But it can still attack you.

You need to keep attacking the yellow energy crystal. After around 7-8 attacks, the energy crystal will break, and the boss will be stunned.

Keep attacking the boss when it’s stunned. When the boss recovers, it will change into its Ranged Mode.

The boss gains an entire new set of moves in its Ranged Mode:

  • Shrapnel Volley: From the ground, Anra launches three projectiles in the air that explode after a moment, spreading shrapnel in all directions.
  • Raining Bullets: From the air, Anra fires six bullets downwards while moving from one side to another.
  • Laser Sweep (Air): From the air, Anra flies to a corner of the arena and fires a laser beam that sweeps across the arena.
  • Laser Sweep (Ground): While standing on the ground, Anra fires a laser beam while alternating between left and right sides three times.
  • Tracking Bullets: Anra lobs three bullets that softly track towards the player.

Anra’s biggest weakness during this phase is that she only attacks in front of her. So if you can stick to her backside and keep hitting her, she won’t be able to hit you back.

Keep attacking, and Dr. Halyn will bring in another yellow energy shard, which causes Anra to become invulnerable. The idea is the same as before. Break the shard to stun the boss and then attack it to deal damage.

Anra will briefly switch back to its Melee Mode. But by now, you have already eaten through most of its HP. Keep attacking it, and the boss will go down. But the fight is far from over as Dr. Halyn will now step in.

She will grab Anra and start attacking you with it. You can start attacking as soon as Dr. Halyn speaks.

How to Beat Dr. Halyn, The Hand

For what it’s worth, the fight against Dr. Halyn isn’t too difficult. She doesn’t have a lot of health. But her attacks are a bit tricky to avoid. On top of that, if you die now, you’ll have to fight Anra all over again before you can fight Dr. Halyn. So the stakes are higher.

To damage Dr. Halyn, you need to hit the body that she’s holding in her hand. She has only a few moves in her hand, and all of them involve using the body in some way.

She can fire three projectiles from her body and also slam the arena where you’re standing. You can dodge through both attacks, but it’s better to move out of the way for the slam attack.

The attack that you mainly need to watch out for is when she sweeps through the arena horizontally twice in quick succession. You have to dodge twice or double jump and use the glide ability to evade the attack.

There’s nothing else in this fight that you’ll have to remember. Just keep attacking the body, and eventually, Dr. Halyn will go down.

This will trigger a cutscene as she gives you the voice of The Hand.

Returning to The Severed Spine

After the cutscene, head to the right side wall. Scale up the wall to reach a platform above you.

From here, use the two grapple points to reach a set of stairs above.

Continue moving forward and drop down to the dark chamber up ahead.

Call the elevator and use it to head up to L1: The Wheel.

From here, just keep heading left to make it back to the Lab Attuner. You’ll find the shuttle in the next room to the left. Use it to reach the <redacted> zone. You should be able to find your way back to The Severed Spine from here without any trouble.

Return to Shii and watch as she severs the Pearl.

Don’t talk to Shii again. Instead, drop down and head back to the Nexus Attuner and save your progress.

Go back out and talk to Shii. She’ll tell you that it’s time to gather the Spine’s Voice.

After the conversation, she’ll carry you to The Spine‘s bridge above.

When you’re ready, interact with the shell, and it’ll break, revealing Ati inside.

Speak with Ati and go through her dialogue. Keep talking to her a few times, and after a few warnings, she’ll throw you into the shell, triggering the final boss battle.

How to Beat Ati, Keeper of The Heart

The fight against Ati is tough, but fair, and serves as an epic conclusion to the journey. Like you, she is a keeper, and her attacks look almost like charged-up versions of your abilities.

Almost all of her attacks can be dodged since they are telegraphed well in advance. But because of how quickly she strikes and how smoothly she weaves between her combos, it can be hard to keep track of everything in the fight.

The main attack you’ll want to watch out for in the first phase is when she disappears, and five energy orbs appear above you. Keep a close eye on the order in which the energy orbs appear. After a moment, these orbs will shoot towards you in the order that they appeared.

You can dodge through each of them or simply move out of the way.

The most dangerous attack in her arsenal is the grab attack, where she whips her hair and, after a short delay, grabs you and slams you to the ground. The dodge timing on this move is pretty tricky. But if you can get far enough away from Ati, she can’t grab you with this move.

She also has a ground slam and a ground three-hit combo. If you manage to get behind her, you can use this as an opening to deal some damage.

mio walkthrough

When the second phase triggers, Ati will electrify the ground after a few seconds. During this time, two grapple points will appear in the arena. Use them to launch yourself into the air.

mio walkthrough

But simply keeping yourself in the air isn’t good enough, as Ati will do three dash attacks while you’re mid-air. You can dodge through these attacks.

mio walkthrough

Land on the ground after the three dashes. Ati will now have a few additional moves in her arsenal. She will also attack faster and chain her attacks to try to catch you off guard.

mio walkthrough

During the second phase, she will fire three blasts at the same time instead of one when using the ground projectile attack. Simply dodge through or jump above the ground projectile to avoid taking damage.

This isn’t a short fight, and trying to rush will only get you sent back to the Attuner. So take your time, focus on dodging, and use your openings efficiently.

mio walkthrough

When you drop Ati’s health down to zero, she will launch an energy ball above her.

mio walkthrough

After a while, both you and Ati will fall to the ground.

mio walkthrough

Once Mio stands up, walk over to Ati and strike her once to end the boss battle.

The Finale

mio walkthrough

Defeating Ati will give you The Spine’s Voice.

mio walkthrough

A path will open up through the sphere, and you’ll see Mio head up the path.

mio walkthrough

You’ll land on a pipe in a low-gravity area. Drop off from the edge.

mio walkthrough

Continue falling till you reach all the way to the bottom.

mio walkthrough

Start walking forward from here. You’ll see the background flash briefly.

mio walkthrough

This is Khlia, Heart of The Vessel.

mio walkthrough

Continue walking forward as you hear Khlia speak. As you reach the final Pearl, a cutscene will trigger. Enjoy the ending.

NOTE: This is the standard ending of Mio: Memories in Orbit. From this point, you can choose continue to return just before the fight against Ati.
