Modulus: Factory Automation is a base-building game where you have to craft modules and complete objectives. As the game progresses, the modules that you have to craft become more complicated, and you also have to optimize the output of your structures.

Module Challenge
After you’ve placed the first painter, you’ll be able to craft blue modules. You’ll receive an Island Permit as a reward for completing the objectives so far.
The next objective is to complete a module challenge. You can find the module challenges icon in the top-left corner of the screen. You’ll find a variety of module sets here. Select the MOD-A set of modules.

Select and pin all of these modules on the screen. Now, you’ll have to craft all three of them and have them delivered at the docks.
However, before you can craft these modules, you’ll need one more type of tool. Go to the Tech Tree and unlock the Stamper.

Stamper
The Stamper allows you to punch a hole through a polyrock block or a module, giving you more freedom to craft different shapes of modules.
Now, it’s time to set up the structures to build these modules. You can do so on any island, but it’s recommended to build these modules where you don’t have any blue hexacrystals to save space on those islands for other types of structures.
Note that you only need to build one of the modules from the challenge to complete the objective, but it’s best to complete them all as they provide good XP to level up.

MOD-A
To get the first module of the MOD-A challenge, you’ll have to place four stampers one after the other. A Stamper gives out two outputs. One of the outputs is the main block that has been stamped, and the other output is the piece of the block that was stamped out.
For the first module, you don’t need the stamped-out piece, so you can just leave it as is. After a total of four stampers, you should get your first module.

The second module can be crafted by using the stamper tool to cut out an entire row from the blocks. Place another stamper, and have it cut out another row from a different side. You’ll then end up with a piece that looks like the second module’s image.
Now, you have to place another stamper to stamp a hole in the middle of this block. This will allow you to craft the second module.

For the third module, you’ll have to place a cutter in front of the furnace. Cut the block into four pieces, and pass it through a splitter.
One output of the splitter should go to the stamper, while the other goes straight to an assembler. Cut out the middle four voxels of the block piece inside the stamper.

Now, the output of the stamper should go through another splitter. Place an assembler connected with the pieces coming straight out of the splitter ahead of the cutter. The second input should be the stamped-out pieces. This assembler will complete half of the module.
Build a conveyor belt out of the first stamper. It would be pushing out small pieces, made out of 4 voxels. Pass these pieces through a cutter, which will cut them in half.

Put a splitter ahead of it. You’ll need two more assemblers to end up with the third module. Once all three modules have been created, you’ll have to send them to the delivery dock.

Droid Core Facility
You should be Rank 3 by now after completing the module challenge. Now, you have to craft a droid and deliver it to the docks. Droids are like a higher-tier version of the bots that you’re already producing. You’ll need to produce advanced cores first.
All of these buildings require blue modules, so you’ll have to build them somewhere with access to blue hexacrystals. First, set up a Basic Refinery: Blue Pigment to produce the blue paint.

After that, set up a Droid Core Facility. Anything you pass through a painter will turn blue if you’re providing the painter with blue paint. This is also true for entire blocks.
The first module for the Droid Core Facility is a rectangular module that is entirely blue and should be easy to produce. The second module is both black and white.

You’ll need a stamper to stamp holes in both parts of the second module. The third and final module for the Droid Core Facility is both blue and white.
You’ll have to cut a polyblock into four pieces, have it pass through the painter, and assemble it so it turns into a 4×8 blue piece. Use the cutters and an assembler to produce a 2×8 piece. Merge the two pieces in an assembler to get the third module.
Once the building is ready and producing the blue cores, you’ll have to link it to a harvester pad.

Assembling Droids
Now, you’ll have to build a Droid Assembly. By now, you should be able to create most modules. The modules for the Droid Assembly will also require blue pieces for the modules, so make sure you’re producing enough pigment.
For the first module, you just have to stamp the holes in a blue module. The second module is a bit challenging, as it uses black and blue pieces, as well as the default white color.

The second module is a big one, but you can also repurpose the blue square-shaped pieces that you were producing for the first module for this one, or you can set up a fresh connection to a painter.
The third module is simple to build. You just have to assemble a white and blue 2×4 piece on top of one and the other. After setting up the Droid Assembly, you’ll have to set up a harvester pad nearby.

The Droid Assembly requires blue cores, so you’ll have to build a conveyor belt from the harvester pad linked to the Droid Core facility.
After you’re producing Droids, build a belt from the harvester pad linked to the assembly to the delivery docks. This will also complete the objective.

Next
Once you’ve completed the droid objective, you’ll have a ton of time to gather enough Grey Data Shards to unlock the three monuments required in the objectives.
Grey Nexus requires 4000 Grey Data Shards, while the Blue Vault requires 2000 Blue Data Shards. The Yellow Spire, which becomes unlocked at level 10, requires 1000 Yellow Data Shards.

For now, you’ll have to work towards producing blue data shards. You can also go around and optimize all of the previous structures so you’re producing data shards efficiently.

Blue Data Shards
To produce Blue Data Shards, you’ll have to build the Advanced Processing Plant, which can be unlocked from the Tech Tree. Don’t forget to unlock the recipe for blue data shards as well from there.
Set up the Advanced Processing Plant on the island where you’re already producing Droid Cores, or set up the Droid Core Facility on a new island.

It is recommended to do so on a new island because producing Droids is a great source of experience, and if you take the Droid Core supply from there, it can disturb your progress.
Craft all the modules for the Advanced Processing Plant, and have its output linked to a Harvester Pad. You’ll also have to provide the Advanced Processing Plant with Droid Cores.

Once you’re producing Blue Processors, you’ll have to build a Data Center. However, your work is far from done here. The recipe for Blue Datashards requires Grey Datashards as well.
Now, you’ll have to set up a Basic Processing Plant as well. With the Basic Processing Plant, you’ll have to build the Basic Core Facility too. The Basic Processing Plant will produce grey processors.

Build a Data Center and supply it with the Grey Processors from both inputs. You’ll get the Grey Datashards. Now, build another Data Center nearby, and send the Grey Datashards to this new Data Center. You’ll have to provide the Blue Processors from the other input for this new Data Center, and you’ll be able to produce Blue Datashards.
Send these Blue Datashards to the delivery dock, and you’ll be able to unlock more advanced structures from the Tech Tree.
