Modulus: Factory Automation – Walkthrough Part 3

Modulus: Factory Automation Walkthrough

Modulus: Factory Automation is a simulation and automation game where you have to craft different shapes of modules and automate the production process. As you progress, you’ll unlock advanced structures and will be able to craft more complex modules.

For more information on the game, please visit its official Steam page here.

Ranking Up And Advanced Tools

After you’re able to produce Blue Data Shards, you have to optimize their production and rank up. This will provide you with Permits, which can be used to unlock new islands.

Producing Blue Data Shards will also allow you to unlock advanced structures from the Tech Tree, such as the Advanced Assembler and the Advanced Cutter.

These advanced tools require Coolant to function, which can be produced at a Chemical Plant and supplied to the tools via a Supply Tank.

You can place an Advanced Assembler that takes three inputs instead of two, to make modules more easily. Connect the Advanced Assembler to a Supply Tank drone.

You’ll have to provide the Supply Tank with Coolant, which can be produced at a Chemical Plant by combining four units of raw Polyrock and four units of blue HexaCrystals.

If you don’t have enough Blue Data Shards, you can set up more facilities to produce them. You’ll be needing a lot of them to unlock the Blue Vault Neural Monument.

You’ll need the advanced tools to build yellow modules more easily later on, but for the blue ones, the basic tools can get the job done.

Freighters

Once you hit Rank 8, you’ll be able to unlock freighters. These freighters provide a more efficient way to transport materials between islands than the skylines.

Setting up freighters can be challenging. You have to place at least two freighter hubs. These freighters can transport multiple inputs at once.

After placing the freighter hubs, you have to open the freighter menu. You can do so by clicking on the freighter icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

Here, you’ll have to select Add Freighter. This will open another menu. Here, you have to chart the course of a freighter. Select which hub it is supposed to pick the items from, and where you want the freighter to drop them.

Yellow Modules

Yellow Modules are the third and final type of modules in the game, and advanced refinery plants can produce them. You’ll need to extract Solarite reserves to produce yellow pigment at a refinery.

Similar to the blue pigment, you’ll have to use the yellow pigment to build yellow modules, which will be used to set up superior facilities and to produce Yellow Data Shards.

But before you can get to that, you’ll have to produce thousands of Blue Data Shards, which is a monumental task on its own.

Yellow modules will also allow you to build mechs at a Superior Mech Assembly, which can get you a ton of XP to rank up quickly.

Neural Monuments

Neural Monuments are gigantic structures. You can unlock Grey Nexus for 4000 Grey Data Shards, Blue Vault for 2000 Blue Data Shards, and Yellow Spire for 1000 Yellow Data Shards.

These Neural Monuments are the epitome of automation in the game. They’re not easy to build, as they require a ton of different types of modules. You’ll have to reserve one entire big island for a monument.

Since a monument requires hundreds of modules, you’ll also have to actively watch the cranes and the conveyor belts, so they don’t get blocked by modules that have already been submitted for the required amount.

All of these modules are the ones that you’ve already created for the type of buildings you’ve already built. Coming up with the automation for them won’t be a problem. For example, the Grey Nexus requires the modules you’ve already built for the basic facilities, such as the basic core facility and the bot assembly.

Likewise, the Blue Vault requires modules that you’ve already prepared for the advanced core facility and the Android assembly.

Building all three Neural Monuments takes a significant amount of time, but if you’re able to produce the required type of modules, you’ll get there eventually.

While you progress towards building all three Neural Monuments, you can complete Module Challenges in the meantime, or optimize production for the Data Shards.

You can also use the permits that you obtain for Ranking Up to unlock new islands, further expanding on the free building that the game offers you.
