Monster Hunter Stories 3 Walkthrough Part 11: Aenshin

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin

The Rangers are gradually moving towards the end in Monster Hunter Stories 3. After a heartbreaking confrontation between Leia and Simon (Kris), they all return to Azuria. They are all momentarily neglected by the kingdom’s committee for breaking the covenant, but suddenly, Ena calls Eleanor and Leia to the peace meetings between Azuria and Vermeil.

In this walkthrough, you will find the Lazlion story quests, which will ultimately lead to the game’s conclusion.

Homecoming | Talks of Peace – Quests Walkthrough

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin
Clarissa In The Peace Talks.

Glazer asks both princesses to participate in the peace talks as per Ena’s request. Head to the southern Azuria Castle exit after the conversation ends, and follow the southern road to reach the objective’s location.

Eleanor and Leia reach the peace talks and share the Rift War’s story to explain why the kingdoms are called “Transgressors” across the Meridian. Despite all efforts to negotiate, Clarissa gets up and initiates the war between the two kingdoms. As soon as their battle-bound, controlled, and manipulated monsters enter Azuria, everyone suddenly hears a roar from the clouds.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin
Aenshin Reveals Itself.

Purple lightning approaches the area, and as it gets closer, Aenshin, the very elder-dragon behind the crystallization, shows up, and both kingdoms’ soldiers shift their focus to it. However, nothing affects it, and Aenshin continues to move towards the Rangers. The first battle against the Elder Dragon begins.

Aenshin Boss Battle – Retreat

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin
The Rangers Following The Elder Dragon.

Like some invasive monster battles, the goal in the first fight against Aenshin is to make it retreat from the kingdom. No matter how powerful a hit is, it won’t deplete the boss’s health. Your focus should be staggering it.

In this encounter, Aenshin only has one battle state: Blightstone Protection with Technical attacks. In the first turn, use a Hammer and attack its head to deal significant Wyversoul Gauge damage. The monster will activate its Blighstone in the second turn, and whoever attacks it will be met with a grand backlash that is powerful enough to one-shot anyone.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin
Battling Aenshin For The First Time.

Wait until the Blightstone Activation state ends, and then continue attacking Aenshin as usual. The main goal of this battle is to deplete its Wyversoul Gauges once.

Post Aenshin Boss Battle – Retreat

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin
Simon Under Aenshin’s Crystallisis Beam.

After that’s done, Simon arrives and attacks Aenshin, and initially, the monster falters. Until suddenly, it raises its head, and Simon remembers the pattern: Aenshin is charging up its Crystallisis beam, which destroyed an entire village ten years ago.

While some manage to run away, Simon is caught in the beam. Leia and Simon confront each other again in the sky, but the monster tries to shoot another beam. Thanks to Amara’s crystal, Rathalos and Leia barely manage to survive the beam. Arken tries to sway the monster away, but he gets caught in the beam, which affects him with crystallisis.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin
Leia Following Simon and Shielding From Aenshin’s Beam.

After Leia meets Arken, he tells him about Amara’s main goal. With this, Leia and the Rangers get ready for another expedition, which is to take down Aenshin once and for all.

Father and Child – Quest Walkthrough

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin
Eleanor Eavesdropping On Fiero and Clarissa.

Get to the Catavan stand and fast-travel to the Azuria Castle’s base. There, the Rangers discuss visiting the Sacrosanctum to take down Aenshin, but Eleanor tells them about Clarissa’s plan to steal Aenshin’s egg and use it to control the Elder Dragon. As they devise a plan to win this egg-hunting race, Ena arrives and reveals that the Scriveners and Corbin are already searching for it.

The Scriveners’ Captain suffers from amnesia with no memories of her life before Ena found her in Aenshin’s den. Additionally, the captain is connected to the Elder Dragon and the Sacrosanctum. However, there is no time to question her identity, and now the Rangers get ready to leave for the Sacrosanctum.

The Scriveners’ Captain.

Talk to Rudy at the base to progress the story; make sure to stock up on heals and Vital Essence as you’re entering the finale. After reaching the Sacrosanctum, walk towards its gate, covered in crystals, and reunite with PK.

Machinations – Quest Walkthrough

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin
Entering Terra Nativitas.

When their conversation ends, move forward to enter Terra Nativitas, the path towards Aenshin’s den. If you reach a cliff, turn left and jump to get on the elevated path and enter the den. Leia finds Amara’s armor there, and as she tries to connect the dots, a Bound Azure Rathalos storms into the area.

Bound Azure Rathalos Boss Fight

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin
Ratha Clashes Against An Azure Rathalos.

Azure Rathalos is a subspecies and has three battle states:

  • Normal: Power attacks
  • Engaged (Airborne): Speed attacks
  • Battle-Bound (Unleashed): Technical attacks
Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin
Bound Azure Rathalos Attacking The Rangers.

Unlike all other monsters, Azure Rathalos’ head is covered; you can’t attack it. Take out your Greatsword and hit its tail to deal Wyversoul Gauge and HP damage. Repeat this once, and wait for it to go airborne by the third turn. Use an Iron Bow and shift your focus to the monster’s wings.

There is a certain, yet negligible, chance of toppling its transformation and returning it to the normal state. Keep attacking the wings until they either break or Azure Rathalos’s state changes. Wait until the Kinship Skill is ready by turn seven, and then execute it with the battle ally.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Aenshin
Leia Using The Iron Bow.

This skill will stagger the monster, force it to enter normal state, and allow you to evade all its attacks. Use all the skills in your arsenal to deal significant damage until the red Wyversoul Gauges return.

In Turn 9, Azure Rathalos will enter the Battle-Bound (Unleashed) State, which finally exposes its head. Change to a Blunt weapon, preferably Hammer, and go all out on its head. The battle is long, and every attack counts. Keep attacking, defending, and healing until its Head breaks, then immediately initiate a Synchro Rush.

Leia and Eleanor’s Double Kinship Skill Animation.

Again, when the Kinship Skill is all charged up, execute another double skill with the battle ally that will stagger it for the third time. With one more Synchro Rush attack, the monster will return to its Normal state; it lasts for only a single turn.

Repeat the previous patterns: In Battle-Bound (Unleashed State), attack Azure Rathalos’s Head, and focus on its wings in the Engaged (Airborne) state. Heal, and keep your monstie safe at all times.

Note: Azure Rathalos can transform into two states simultaneously. If it goes airborne during the Battle-bound (Unleashed) state, then prepare to tank Inernal Judge, an extremely powerful attack capable of one-shotting the entire party.
A Defeated Bound Azure Rathalos.

After a handful of turns, the battle will end.

Post Bound Azure Rathalos Boss Fight

Corbin and The Scriveners’ Captain Exploring Aenshin’s Den.

Leia, Eleanor, and Ogden inspect the Azure Rathalos to understand its nature. They realize it’s a monster from the Rift War that survived Aenshin’s mass crystallization.

Now, return to a camp or base and stock up on healing. Then, move through the small crystal towards the objective. Corbin and Scrivener’s Captain explore the den for eggs, until suddenly a Lunagaron breaks through the egg quartz, and the Rangers arrive in the nick of time to help them defeat it.

Bound Lunagaron Boss Fight

A Bound Lunagaron.

The Bound Lunagaron comes with three battle states:

  • Normal: Speed attacks
  • Enraged: Power attacks
  • Battle-Bound (Unleashed): Technical attacks
Stunned Bound Lunagaron.

Bound Lunagaron’s entire body is covered with scales and the battle-bound armor; you can only attack its tail with an Iron Bow in Normal State. In the third turn, the monster will shift to its Enraged State that inflicts staggering damage, and reveals two new body parts: Hind Legs (Frost Armor) and Back (Frost Armor).

Shift your focus to the Back (Frost Armor) and use a Greatsword to damage the monster’s Wyvernsoul Gauges and the body part itself. As soon as it breaks, attack the Hind Legs (Frost Armor) since it is a weak spot with an Iron Bow. After seven turns, execute a double kinship skill to stagger the monster and damage its HP significantly; it returns the monster to its Normal state.

Attacking Bound Lunagaron’s Head in Battle-Bound State.

Use your strongest skill against Lunagaron, and maintain a steady pace until the red Wyversoul Gauges return. When the tail breaks, all attacks will inflict critical damage. However, in the next turn, Lunagaron will enter the Battle-Bound (Unleashed) state, which reveals its head.

Equip the Hammer and aim for the head. Stay on the defensive side since this state is offensive, and deals an extraordinary amount of damage to all party members despite having strong armor. Defend, and then attack. Wait for the Kinship Bar to charge up and execute a Double Kinship Skill on the monster. Doing so will topple the monster, allowing you to initiate a Syncro Rush with the battle ally.

A Defeated Bound Lunagaron.

From this point forward, only Lunagaron’s head will be attackable. Switch to Hammer and continuously attack the monster until it dies.

In Her Footsteps – Quest Walkthrough

The Rangers, Corbin, and The Scriveners’ Captain Checking Aenshin’s Egg Quartz.

The Rangers, Corbin, and Scrivener’s Captain reunite, and they decide to move deeper into the den to find Aenshin’s eggs. Continue along the path to find a giant Egg Quartz in an open area, and inside, they finally find the long-anticipated Elder Dragon egg.

Since the Scrivener’s Captain suffers from Amnesia, she takes off her mask in excitement. Surprisingly, she is revealed to be Amara, Leia’s mother, who was deemed dead many years ago; Simon watches the drama unfold. Before the Rangers can make Amara remember herself, the Vermeil soldiers arrive.

Amara With Amnesia.

When the battle for the egg begins, Aenshin returns to his den and shoots the Crystallisis beam at everyone. All Battle-Honed monsters retreat, and Fiero is blown away. The Elder Dragon then goes for Amara and Clarissa, but as it tries to shoot the beam, the Rangers arrive.

Aenshin – Second Encounter

Aenshin At Its Den.

Aenshin has two states in this battle:

  • Blightstone Protection: Technical attacks
  • Blightstone Unleashed: Power attacks
Eleanor Explaining Aenshin’s Blightflash Expurgation’s intensity.

In the second Aenshin Encounter, the battle begins with its Blightstone Protection state and Technical attacks. Use a Hammer and attack the Elder Dragon’s head. No matter what you do, Aenshin will execute a one-hit skill called Blightflash Expurgation in the next turn.

This skill petrifies everyone on the field, which halts Stamina recovery, and if you’re hit with it again, you will lose one of the battle hearts. To reverse the petrification spell, ride your monstie after the Kinship Bar is full. All Aenshin attacks are Technical, and when it tries to initiate a Head-to-Head situation, use a Power attack to win and gain the advantage.

Aiming At One of Aenshin’s Cores.

Don’t let the Elder Dragon move, and destroy its head to deplete a handful of Wyvernsoul Gauges. As soon as the Blighstone Crystal and Head break, Aenshin will enter the Blightstone Unleashed state.

Nothing holds the Elder Dragon back anymore. With this state, three cores will appear on its body. All of them have different weaknesses: Iron Bow, Slice (Greatsword), and Blunt (Hammer/Bone Horn).

Leia Using The Iron Bow on Aenshin.

The Core weak to Blunt damage is the easiest to destroy. So, use your hammer to attack it first; it only takes two meteor hammers. While you focus on the Blunt core, the battle ally focuses on the other, which is weak to their weapon. As soon as all cores are destroyed, Aenshin will cover the crystals on its back.

Aenshin Retreating.

Continue attacking the remaining body parts until the Elder Dragon’s HP is depleted, and it will finally leave its den.

Post Aenshin – Second Encounter

Simon Holding The Elder Dragon Egg.

Simon shows himself and tries to talk to Amara, but she can’t remember him. He gets near Aenshin’s egg and reveals that he is also affected with crystallisis; there is no cure. To end everything, Simon decides to break the Elder Dragon’s egg to settle a stalemate between the two kingdoms.

However, Leia distracts him to give the egg enough time to reveal that it is alive. This reminds Simon of the time when Amara sacrificed herself to save him, and it is a surprise that, even with amnesia, she survived. Clarissa holds Fiero and says nothing matters anymore as he suffers from Crystallisis.

Simon Trying To Destroy The Egg.

She gives Eleanor the approval to join the Rangers again and slay Aenshin once and for all.

Echoes of Life – Quest Walkthrough

The Crystal Gate in The Sacrosanctum.

Return to the Sacrosanctum’s central area, covered in crystals and with a frozen lake in the middle. Cross the crystal gate, and you will be warned with a point of no return prompt. If you have all the required (healing) items, then proceed. Otherwise, use a Catavan nearby and buy all healing items from Melnyx Emporium.

With everything set, go through the crystal gate and initiate the grand finale. Simon appears, and Leia follows him in the sky. After he remembers his true purpose, he rips the Battle-Bound armor off the other Skyscale Rathalos and reunites with Leia; both dragons sync with each other.

Rudy Jumping On Simon’s Rathalos.

Aenshin follows both of them to the Sacrosanctum, and the final battle now begins.

Aenshin – Final Boss Fight

The Final Showdown Against Aenshin.

The legendary Elder Dragon flies before the Rangers; your battle ally is now Simon. Aenshin has four cores that are mandatory to destroy. First, aim for the one that is weak to Blunt damage. In the second turn, the Elder Dragon uses its Shardshower Expurgation skill, which allows it to create two giant crystals that explore and shower sharp shards on the party members.

This is a scripted skill, so get back on your feet and heal if Leia falters. Attack the Blunt core again, and in the next turn, Aenshin will spawn another Blight Crystal that can be targeted. If you don’t break the Blight Crystal fast enough, it will either attack the party or heal Aenshin; be quick with it.

Two Blight Crystals.

When the crystal breaks, attack Aenshin’s core. However, it will spawn another crystal in the next turn, but your Kinship Skill will be ready. Use the Double Kinship Skill to damage the Elder Dragon’s Wyvernsoul Gauges and HP, and stagger it. When the first core breaks, Thea will use her Kinship Skill to damage Aenshin and bring its defenses down.

Now, use your Greatsword and aim for the second core. Keep attacking it until the second set of Wyvernsoul Gauges depletes, and then immediately initiate Syncro Rush to automatically break the other core. Ogden will take the chance and use his Kinship Skill to damage the exposed parts.

Leia and Simon’s Double Kinship Skill Animation.

Use skills and attacks until your Kinship Skill is charged again, and then execute it. With this, the third core and the Blight Crystals will all be destroyed. Kora arrives and uses her Kinship Skill to damage Aenshin.

Follow the same pattern until the fourth core, which is weak to Iron Bow, breaks, and then wait for Gaul to finish his Kinship Skill. The battle reaches its final phase, and Aenshin shows his true power, which is enough to stop time around the arena.

Aenshin Revealing Its True Core.

You have nine turns to defeat Aenshin before it explodes and repeats the Rift War incident. True Core is the final body part that you have to destroy; just keep attacking it and use your turns wisely since it is weak to all weapons.

After two turns, you will be able to execute another Double Kinship Skill. Hit it with the strongest attacks you have, and break the True Core to let Eleanor use her Kinship Skill, and then execute a final Topple Rush to beat the Elder Dragon.

Leia and Simon Fusing Their Rathalos For The Final Blow.

Aenshin flies away, and the Rangers follow it up in the sky. The Elder Dragon tries to shower shards on them, but Simon and Leia’s Rathalos defend the entire group. To deliver the final blow, both Rathalos fuse and smash Aenshin’s face, which removes the crystals from its body.

The Elder Dragon falls on the Frozen Lake in central Sacrosanctum, and as it closes its eyes, Amara brings the egg. It hatches, and Aenshin dies after seeing its offspring. The peace has been restored between Azuria and Vermeil thanks to Ena.

The Rangers, Corbin, and The Scriveners Watching Aenshin and Its Offspring.

Lastly, Leia talks to Amara and goes on an expedition with the little Aenshin before the credits roll.
