Monster Hunter Stories 3 starts with a bang after being introduced to its characters and story about troubled kingdoms. With two back-to-back major boss fights, the prologue ends with the egg hatching feature that allows the protagonist to raise monsties. Don’t forget to check out its Steam page for more information.
Now, in this walkthrough, I will cover the next quest and provide numerous tips to help you throughout the game.

Monstie Stables and Party Setup

After returning to Azuria Castle with the party, you can now access Monstie Stables and customize them as you wish. Located in the Southwest area, talk to the Stable Paw, and a menu will pop up with three different options:

- Hatch Eggs: Find monster eggs in the wild and hatch them at the stable. It unlocks a new monstie for the party, but it’s up to you to either add or remove them.
- Edit Parties: Here you can add or remove a monstie from the party. A total of six can be equipped simultaneously, and three are currently available by default; add Paolumu as the fourth monstie.
- Manage Monsties: This option allows you to rename your monstie and release it into the wild. However, releasing them will result in a permanent loss; make sure to remove the monstie from the party first.
All Weapon Classes and How They Work

Additionally, you can now manage your equipment and battle partner as well. Head to the party menu and click on change equipment to swap weapons. Here’s a quick rundown of all of them:
- Bone Hammer: A heavy-blunt weapon that delivers staggering blunt damage to Wyvernsoul Gauges, but consumes the most stamina. Most efficient in breaking forelimbs and other body parts, including Blightstone Crystals.
- Bone Horn: Same properties as the Bone Hammer, but it requires less stamina and inflicts normal damage on every body part.
- Iron Bow: Best for deflating Paolumu’s neck when it transforms. Doesn’t perform well against Blightstone Crystals because of the arrow’s inherent Piercing effect.
- Iron Sword: Deals normal damage to every part of the body; ideal for technical attacks.
- Iron Katana: Same as Iron Sword, but the attacks are swifter with less damage.
- Iron Gunlance: Allows the protagonist to guard enemies’ blows and attack swiftly with speed attacks.
With the descriptions above, use the weapons that suit your play style. You can equip three weapons at once.
Party Management

A safe zone allows the player to swap out their battle allies. Thea is the default ally, and you can swap her out with others. The other allies and their weapons are:
- Simon – Iron Katana
- Thea – Iron Bow
- Gaul – Iron Katana
- Ogden – Bone Horn
- Kora – Iron Gunlance
Feral Monster – Quest Guide

After switching weapons and battle allies to your preferences, it is time to continue the story. Exit Azuria Castle from the southern gate, and meet Smithy to forge new weapons/armor or upgrade the equipped ones. Don’t forget to check out the required materials; find them by exploring the world.

Notice the question mark items on some materials? They are undiscovered. Always pick up any item that you can discover. For now, forge the Chata Clobberer and Lumu Horn, equip them from the menu, and then exit the castle.

Outside, Leia talks about a monster den, which will allow you to fight new monsters and capture their eggs for hatching and increasing your total monsties. Head inside the den and search the nest for eggs. Try to make it quick, as the mother can return, and it will hunt you down if spotted.
Tip: Get a Leviathan egg (took me three searches) to be able to explore the waters.

Follow the objective’s location and meet with Simon at the kingdom’s border. Since tensions are rising, he suggests monitoring the situation through the lookout spot. After seeing the Vermeil’s army preparing for a war, turn around and return to the castle.
However, a Honed Glavenus blocks your path; it’s time for a battle.
Honed Glavenus Boss Fight

To defeat Honed Glavenus, use a normal power attack with the Chata Clobberer in the first turn. Keep a focus on its head since it is weak to Blunt damage. In the second turn, use Rathalos’s Venom Strike and Chata Clobberer’s Meteor Hammer to destroy two of its Wyvernsoul Gauges.

Follow the attacks up with Clobberer’s Sweet Spot ability and Venom Strike (again) for consistent momentum and stagger Glavenus. Since its head is weakened, switch to your Iron Bow and attack its tail; use any skill. Remember: using skills consumes stamina; if it depletes, you will only be able to execute normal attacks.

Once Glavenus behaves strangely, use a normal technical attack to receive a chance to topple it. In the ninth turn, the Kinship Skill will be ready. Aim at the throat and fire away to stagger it, setting up a synchro rush.

Glavenus will return to its normal stage, and its neck will be weak against Blunt attacks. Switch to Chata Clobberer and use Meteor Hammer (technical) to deliver massive damage. Lastly, when its head is weakened, switch to Iron Bow again and attack its tail to stagger it to execute a final syncrho rush and become the victor.
Feral Monster – Continuation

Defeating Glavenus unlocks Fast Travel, which allows you to teleport to a catavan instantly. Now, return to Azuria Castle’s Town catavan and talk to Rudy at the base and progress the story.
The negotiations between Azuria and Vermail begin. Vermeil’s advisor Ferio and Vermeil’s princess Eleanor oversee the negotiation with their companions. They reveal the rising threat of Feral Monsters and the tactic to overcome them: breaking a sacred covenant with the Wyverians.

But the Azurians decline, and Vermails threaten them with war. However, both kingdoms’ heirs provide an alternative until a mutual agreement is reached. With this, Eleanor joins the party, and the Feral Monster quest concludes.

And this ends our second walkthrough of Monster Hunter Stories 3, including a Glavenus boss fight.
