When Eleanor joins the party in Monster Hunter Stories 3, she explains to the Rangers about endangered species and how to capture their eggs, bringing rarity to the monstie collection. Obviously, capturing a rare egg isn’t an easy job, as invasive monsters take control of their nests. And to repopulate the endangered monsters, you can release them in the wild through the Habitat Restoration feature.
And in this walkthrough, I will cover the next story guides in Monster Hunter Stories 3.

Endangered Species – Quest Conclusion
After releasing the Flying Wyvern, return to Azura Castle and report your adventures to King Arken. However, after hearing about her mother, Leia steps back and returns to Rathalos.
She remembers the night Amara, the Turncoat Queen, went rogue while trying to save the second Rathalos, which was planned to be incinerated due to the myth of twin monsters bringing bad omen.
Once the cutscene ends, return to The Base and talk to Rudy to advance the story further. Since Thea is a novice in the group, Leia agrees to teach her the Rite of Channeling, a practice to change monster genes. But this plan is sidetracked as Gaul reveals information about a pack of feral monsters near Azuria Castle.
Safety of Azuria Castle is the top priority, so Simon and Leia decide to check out the pack together before a calamity falls upon the kingdom. You can now talk to other Rangers and progress their side stories at your own pace.
Unlike normal side quests, Ranger Side Quests will stop the story’s progression; make time for them, and receive numerous rewards in return.
Amara’s Child – Quest Walkthrough
Before continuing the story, cook Fish Dishes for a maximum health boost. Exit the Azuria Castle and fly over the Mirror Lake using wind geysers if your monster can’t swim.
To check your monstie stats, head to the menu, then in the party section, go to Monstie Details. See all the Party Riding Actions? They explain what your monster is capable of. If the Swim option is greyed out, you will have to use the geysers to avoid falling into the lake.
Now, follow the objective marker to reach the first-ever Egg Quartz Leia discovered in the game. Simon will leave the party as Leia decides to trace the feral monster tracks into the woods. These tracks will lead you into an open area where two Feral Velocidromes live.
Since Simon is not at the party, it’s time to face two feral monsters all alone.
Feral Velocidromes Boss Fight
Ignore the Blightstone Crystals on the monsters and aim for the other parts to avoid Backlash; it’s a gamble. The main trick to win this battle is to focus on one monster at a time. Target the right Feral Velocidrome’s torso with a normal Power Attack and Rathalos’s Venom Strike.
Keep an eye on your health since these monsters will deal heavy damage; stack up on Herbs from Melnyx Emporium. Use any of Rathalos’s Technical Skills on the right Velocidrome’s torso again and heal Leia. Doing so will break it.
Even if your health bar is depleted, you still have a chance with the two remaining hearts. Face the monsters head-on and achieve victory. Considering how many builds can be created, I can’t guarantee you a victory with my tactics since this is the first fight without a party member.
If this strategy does not work out for you, aim for the Blighstone Crystal first and then move towards the Torso. Higher risk equals higher reward, so hitting the crystal is worth a shot. Once the crystal breaks, go all out on the monsters while healing yourself.
IMPORTANT TIP: Remember to learn boss's attack type. Velocidrome attacks with Speed in normal state, but shifts to Power when enraged.
Countering their attack types will give you an upper hand and lead you to victory. However, before you can celebrate, a Feral Gypceros will jump into the field. But Simon won’t let you fight alone this time.
Feral Gypceros Boss Fight
You should know Feral Gypceros’s attack types before anything. Gypceros attacks with Power normally and Technical when enraged. Once it arrives in the field, swap your monster with Rathalos and use Venom Strike on the monster’s tail since it will counter with a Backlash (guaranteed hit).
After two turns, Gypceros will become enraged and change its attack type to Technical. Keep hitting its tail to deplete all of the Wyvernsoul Gauges ultimately and stagger it. If a blue line appears between the enemy monster and a party member, get ready to attack with a Power Attack to counter Gypceros’s Technical.
This fight isn’t as time-consuming as dual Feral Velocidromes thanks to Simon. Still, pave your path to victory by analyzing the boss’s attack patterns and counter its Power and Technical abilities. After the victory, Simon and Leia reminisce about their first meeting in the field
Return to the Azuria Castle and now help Thea learn the Rite of Channeling. By channeling monster powers, you can create a much more powerful gene and awaken new skills. Now, follow the game’s tips to progress through the tutorial. Better gene alignment will yield a stronger gene.
Complete the tutorial and talk to Rudy at the base to complete Amara’s Child and initiate Tracks.
Tracks – Quest Guide
The bell tolls to alert everyone about the beginning of the war. The Vermeil kingdom has attacked, and since all forces are busy at the border, Arken tasks the Rangers to join them; Ogden, Eleanor, and Thea will not be available for this quest.
Fly over the Mirror Lake to reach the location, and unfortunately, it’s too late. The war breaks out as the Vermeil soldiers shatter the border and begin attacking the defenders. Before things get worse, Leia enters the field and tries to control the situation, but two weaponized Honed Glavenus break through the wall; a do-or-die situation.
Two Honed Glavenus Boss Fight
Honed Glavenus has three different stages:
- Normal: Speed Attacks
- Overheated Tail: Power Attacks
- Overheated Throat: Technical Attacks
The strategy remains the same as the previous Honed Glavenus fight, but you must focus on one boss at a time. Since no Blighstone Crystals are affecting them, choose attacks of your own choice and use the list above to counter their attacks.
Speed beats Power, Power Beats Technical, and Technical beats Speed.
Counter their attack in head-to-head battles and heal yourself when needed; Simon will help you too. After defeating them, the story’s tides change with numerous plot twists. Queen of Vermeil and Eleanor’s sister, Clarissa, arrives on the battlefield with the Rathalos that Amara saved.
There’s so much to digest in this cutscene, and I won’t spoil anything further. Once the cutscene ends, Eleanor and Leia decide to visit the Wyverian Gate for more answers.
