The Rangers reunite after defeating Almudron in the Muddled Marsh, and now they’re on their way to visit the famous city of Galyad. Before the city, there are huge, crystallized remains of a Colossal Dragon that leave everyone in awe. Ogden and Rudy ask permission to explore it, and Leia allows it for research purposes.
In this walkthrough of Monster Hunter Stories 3, we finally enter the city of Galyad and will defeat all the monster bosses that hinder the progress, starting with Ajarakan.

Rudy Quest – Galyad and Tarkuan

The Rangers remain in awe after seeing such a Colossal, crystalized dragon. For research purposes, they visit the remains and find people thriving off selling Egg Quartz. Eleanor understands the dangers, but Kora empathizes with the hunters, as it is their only way to make ends meet.
Now, climb up the wooden tower to meet Explorer Felyne and receive the area’s map. Drop down and climb to the summit to see the views, including the city of Galyad from miles away. Suddenly, numerous monsters appear and run away, but they’re not the danger here. A Feral Ajarakan arrives from the ground and tries to throw a fireball at the Egg Quartz hunters.

Leia rides her Rathalos to create a distraction and allow the people to leave safely. However, the Rangers now have to battle against this rare and highly destructive monster.
Feral Ajarakan Boss Fight

Feral Ajarakan has two battle states:
- Normal: Technical attacks
- Overheated: Power attacks
Start by breaking Ajarakan’s head; it’s weak to blunt damage. Any Hammer weapon would be sufficient to deal significant damage. Use Meteor Hammer skill and keep your monstie at bay.

Let your battle ally do their job, as you can’t order them to use specific attacks. Still, don’t attack Ajarakan’s arm yet since it will result in a powerful backlash, enough to deplete half of your HP instantly.
On the third turn, the monster enters an overheated state, allowing it to execute power attacks. Use Speed attacks to win in Head-to-Head situations if necessary. The battle ally will focus on Ajarakan’s arms to weaken the Blightstone Crystal, and within a few more turns, the crystal will be destroyed.

Wait for the Kinship skill to charge, and then unleash a double Kinship attack along with your ally. This will deal significant damage to the monster, ultimately staggering it.
If either you or the ally loses all three hearts, then it’s game over, and you would have to restart the fight from the beginning. Executing a topple rush will revive your battle ally with three hearts; it won’t work for you, so keep using potions/herbs to replenish HP.

When blue Wyvernsoul Gauges appear, that is your cue to go all out and attack Ajarakan with everything you have. However, play with a balance of both defensive and offensive after the red WG returns.
Within three or more turns, Ajarakan will be defeated. Now, head towards the city of Corbin to meet the Egg Quartz hunters.
Post Feral Ajarakan Boss Fight

Move north to see two sand boats, which will serve as your transport for reaching the city of Galyad. Talk to Catba near the boat, who will appreciate your efforts for defeating the Feral Ajarakan.
After the conversation ends, interact with Catba and get ready to visit the city with Egg Quartz hunters; select no if you have any unfinished business in this area, i.e., monster dens and feral monsters.

Corbin will converse with Leia and Eleanor on the ship, where Eleanor reveals more about her sister and how much she wishes to change Amara. In a few moments, the Rangers and Egg Quartz hunters enter Galyad, a massive city in the heart of the dunes.
Crystallisis Quest – Galyad

Explore Galyad and visit all the shops to see what new items are now available. One of them is Vital Essence at the Emporium Melnyx, which can be consumed to refill hearts in battles; it costs 1,000 Gold Points.
To unlock further areas in the city, go to the objective and meet Ena, the Councilor of Scriveners. After a formal introduction, she asks you to meet her at the Ministry of Eggs tomorrow. Now, this is the perfect time to explore the city at its full potential. Buy items and meet with interactable NPCs to unlock side quests.

To progress the story, talk to Rudy at the table (marked on the map) and skip the day. Visit the Ministry of Eggs, which is located right after a vast bazaar. There, Ena tells the Rangers about Aenshin, an Elder Dragon who resided in the Sacrosanctum and served as a guardian.
However, the Rift War drove him out, which eventually started the Feral monsters pandemic; the crystallization and Egg Quartz began. But is Aenshin the reason behind this pandemic? The Rangers are left with more questions.

Ena asks Corbin to show them around the abandoned village that can be visited only through Death’s Maw. With this information, get to Galyad’s base and talk to Rudy to skip another day.
Return to the dunes and interact with Catba’s apprentice to visit Death’s Maw.
Death’s Maw Walkthrough

The Rangers step foot in Death’s Maw, an area chewed by crystallization where no life exists. Head to the cliff’s end and switch to a monstie that can fly; Rathalos and Tobi-Kadachi work.

Jump off the cliff to safety with the wind geyser in the middle. Be careful of numerous Remobras flying in the middle as they will drag you into an encounter. It is up to you whether to fight them or leave the encounter. Drop down into the pit, and collect any items you can see, but keep an eye on the feral monster nearby.

Ride your monstie and use the wind geyser again to gain height, and get on the western cliff. Jump from it to get to the northern cliff, which will lead you to the objective. To climb up the wall there, use Tobi-Kadachi or Canyne if you have them.

From here, fly over the canyon and enter a section with no wind geyser, but the objective is on the next cliff. To reach that cliff, break the small rock on the middle platform by using your monstie’s projectile or go near it to execute a melee attack. This will cause a geyser to form, and then fly over it to gain height to climb the eastern cliff.

Move forward and avoid all the feral monsters roaming this area. Ahead exists another breakable rock that stops a wind geyser. Break it, fly into the sky, and circle the canyons for three more rocks. Breaking and using these wind geysers will allow you to reach the objective.

As the rangers continue their journey towards the abandoned village, numerous Rachnoids surround them and call the Feral Rakna-Kadaki.
Feral Rakna-Kadaki Boss Fight

Rakna-Kadaki comes with two Rachnoids and has three battle states:
- No Web: Technical attacks
- Web Mantle (Legs): Technical attacks
- Web Mantle (Cocoon): Speed attacks
Note: Rachnoids only execute Technical attacks.

The monster heavily relies on technical attacks, so shifting to power attacks in Head-to-Head situations would bring you an advantage.
Attack its Hind Legs first with blunt damage; a hammer is perfect for this job. Do this in the first two turns, and then shift your focus to the Rachnoids. Once they are dealt with, keep attacking Rakna-Kadaki’s hind legs until they break.

As soon as the part breaks, shift to a Greatsword and attack the boss’s Forelegs. If you haven’t used a monstie skill by turn seven, your Kinship skill will charge; the turns also depend on your armor/weapons, as they have effects to charge Kinship faster.
Execute a double Kinship skill attack on Rakna-Kadaki to deal significant damage to its Wyvernsoul Gauges. Go all out on the monster’s Back Spikes when it’s staggered, as you will be able to evade its Backlashes automatically.

Lost a heart during the battle? Consume a Vital Essence to restore it. Since your battle ally doesn’t shy away from attacking the monster’s crystal, it will break in a matter of a few turns from now.
When it breaks, go all out and hit Rakna-Kadaki. Heal regularly and use Kinship Skill when the meter is charged. Repeating this process will ultimately end this battle in your favor.

The battle ends, and the Rangers continue their expedition. Suddenly, they hear a monster’s call and meet an older man with his accomplice. It turns out that the older man knows about Amara, and after he learns that Leia is her child, he invites the group to his home to talk.
