Monster Hunter Stories 3 Walkthrough Part 9: Rey Dau And Sacrosanctum

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Rey Dau

Leia and the Rangers continue their expedition in Monster Hunter Stories 3 after defeating the Feral Rakna-Kadaki. There, they meet a mysterious older man who knows about Amara, and he invites the entire group to his home to learn more about her.

This walkthrough for Monster Hunter Stories 3 will progress the game’s story with the next Galyad quests, beginning with “Ena”.

Ena, Ten Years Ago, and Transgression- Quests Walkthrough

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Rey Dau
The Older Man.

The next three quests are small and don’t contain any unskippable monster battles.

Ena

The Older Man Talking to Leia.

When the older man, Casimiro, leaves, follow the path ahead to find the village’s survivors hidden inside the walls. Talk to Casimiro to learn about the events from ten years ago that forced the survivors to leave the village and take shelter elsewhere.

Ten Years Ago

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Rey Dau
Young Simon Touching a Rathalos.

Amara drove an Elder Dragon away while Casimiro protected a boy named Kris, who shares an uncanny resemblance to Simon. He further reveals how the kingdoms were weaponizing monsters during the Rift War, including Amara’s journey to the Sacrosanctum.

Hearing this prompts the Rangers to set course for the Sacrosanctum and learn more about Aenshin’s habitat and its den in the wilds.

Transgression

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Rey Dau
Casimiro Telling The Rangers About the Transgressions.

When the conversation ends, turn around and return to Galyad. Use the nearby Catavan to fast-travel back to the city. If you want to take the scenic route, follow the objective’s marker to get there manually.

In the city, Corbin alerts Eleanor and Leia about a suspicious-looking person. Eleanor believes it’s Clarissa’s Spy who is now preparing to visit the Sacrosanctum; she has the game goal as the Rangers.

Now, talk to Ena near the Ranger’s base and get her permission to enter the Sacrosanctum to learn about Aenshin. She agrees after learning the gravity of this situation.

Attonement – Quest Walkthrough

Leia and Eleanor Talking to Ena.

Talk to Rudy after the conversation ends to pass the time, and use a Catavan in the city to fast-travel to the camp at Death’s Maw. Move north and get ready to enter a massive sandstorm, which is controlled by none other than the beast of the skies: Rey Dau.

Rey Dau Boss Fight

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Rey Dau
Rey Dau Makes Its Entry.

Like all other monsters, Rey Dau has unique battle states:

  • Normal: Speed attacks
  • Fulgurite Mantle: Power attacks
Rey Dau’s Railgun Attack.

Always remember to refrain from using monstie skills to conserve Kinship bar; it should be your last resort. Do not shy away from attacking all of its parts since it is not a Feral Rey Dau, and play offensively; you should get over this fight quickly, considering how heavy its attacks are.

Go for its head first, which is weak to blunt damage. Use either a Hammer or a Bone Horn to damage the part significantly. However, after the first turn, the monster reveals the crystal ores on its wings that it can control; the crystals usually make a monster go feral, but it isn’t the case with Rey Dau.

Damaging Rey Dau.

The tail and wings are covered in crystals that are weak to Greatsword and Iron Bow, respectively. Here, your top priority is to destroy the crystal as soon as possible to avoid the monster’s massive attack. If you still get caught in the attack, use Vital Essences and Potions to replenish Hearts and HP.

Wait for it to stagger and attack the monster with any skill you like. When it gets back on its feet, keep a steady momentum and play safely.

Rudy Saving Leia From a Railgun.

The Kinship bar will be charged by turn seven, and then immediately ride your monstie to execute a double Kinship Skill with your battle ally. It will bring Rey Dau’s Wyvernsoul Gauges to their lowest again, and from here, a simple attack would be able to stagger the monster.

Rey Dau will suddenly try to attack the group with Railgun, but Rudy saves them in the nick of time. From here, repeat the tactics and keep in mind to destroy the crystals when the monster enters its Fulgurite Mantle state. Staggering it the third time will allow you to execute a topple rush.

Heal, attack, and guard to ultimately win this battle. The sandstorm settles down after defeating Rey Dau, and Sacrosanctum is now visible.

While the Rangers decide their next move, Clarissa’s spy returns to Vermeil and reports everything he has learned in Galyad, including the sighting of Aenshin. But that’s not all. Simon has seemingly defected to the Vermeil kingdom and has pledged allegiance to Clarissa to battle against Azuria.

With this, Galyad’s arc comes to an end.

To the Sacrosanctum – Quest Walkthrough

The Sacrosanctum From Distance.

The Rangers reach the Sacrosanctum’s entrance, which is covered in ice and partially frozen lakes. Move west by jumping on the ice blocks, and circle the area enough to find an Explorer Felyne; it is on a big, broken tree that you can climb with Tobi-Kadachi.

Get the area’s map, drop from the tree to fly northwest to reach the mountain’s base, and set up camp. However, before the group can get their camp equipment, a Feral Blangonga ambushes them.

Feral Blangonga Boss Fight

Feral Blangonga Enters The Field.

The Feral Blangonga has two battle states:

  • Normal: Power attacks
  • Enraged: Speed attacks

Before anything, always remember to avoid attacking a Feral monster’s crystal body part; it will execute a staggering Backlash attack.

Leia and Thea Initiating Syncro Rush.

Go for Feral Blangonga’s Fangs, and hit it with a blunt weapon of your choice. Keep hitting it until all the Wyvernsoul Gauges are depleted, which will ultimately stagger it. Since it’s not a powerful monster, playing completely offensively wouldn’t bring any harm to either you or your battly ally, but make sure to heal regularly.

Blangonga will call two Blango for its aid by turn four. For now, ignore the other monsters and focus on the boss to maximize efficiency. Doing this will stagger it while your monstie and battle ally take care of both Blango.

A Defeated Feral Blangonga.

And on turn seven, it’s time to execute a Double Kinship Skill with the battle ally; it only works if you haven’t ordered your monstie to use a skill. Feral Blangonga will enter a staggered state again, allowing a topple rush execution.

Again, focus on its Fangs and break it to deplete all the Wyvernsoul Gauages, and then focus on its Forelegs with an Iron Bow to destroy the Blightstone Crystal. When the crystals break, hit Feral Blangonga with everything you have to end this battle.

Head towards the objective area, and prepare for another fanged beast ambush.

Goss Harag Boss Fight

A Goss Harag Ambushing The Rangers.

Goss Harag can switch between three battle states:

  • Normal: Power attacks
  • Enraged (Frost Knuckles): Technical attacks
  • Enraged (Frost Blade): Speed attacks

It is a regular yet tedious boss that can be defeated with normal techniques since it is not feral. However, it sure packs a punch with every hit it delivers.

Eleanor Hitting Goss Harag.

As usual, go for its head with a blunt weapon. Focus on it until it breaks, and conserve the Kinship bar until it fully charges up. When the head breaks and Goss Harag is staggered, use any ability of your choice to deliver the maximum damage; check the blue bar when selecting a body part.

Kinship Skill will be ready within a few turns. Ride your monstie and execute a Double Kinship Skill with the battle ally to immediately stagger the monster, and initiate a Topple Rush.

A Defeated Goss Harag.

The rest of the fight requires a similar flow. I can’t emphasize it enough to heal, so don’t be shy and use everything you have in the inventory. In a turn or two, the battle will end.

Post Goss Harag Boss Fight

The Sacrosanctum.

Use the wind geyser ahead to reach the cliff, and fly over the gap to reach the Sacrosanctum. The Rangers decide to split up at the entrance; Eleanor and Rudy are with you.

Keep moving forward to reach the objective’s location. There, Kora and Leia find a stone that Amara used to store in her locket, which motivates them to look for answers more than ever.

Entering Sacrosanctum.

A wall blocks the path leading to the next objective. So, to cross it, go south to climb up on the broken bridge parts, and then jump over the wall to reach an open area with no exit. Look west to find a breakable wall, and go through it to visit the Sacrosanctum’s gate.

The Broken Bridge.

With all the crystals and cold flowers growing, the Rangers finally find out the reason behind Aenshin’s mutation: it consumed Vermeil’s war monsters regularly. It ultimately changed its diet and forced it to release crystals all over the kingdoms.

Again, this conversation is cut short as a Silver Dragon, Malzeno, suddenly appears and ambushes the group. According to Thea, it is the king of Sacrosanctum.

Malzeno.
