Mortal Shell 2 is an Action-RPG where you have to cleanse the Corrupted Gates all over the map to collect the Ova for the UnderMether and return them to the Marrow Keep. The Sanguine Caverns Gate is located in the topmost part of the map, in the northern region.

Stonebled Gate Beacon
Just outside of the Sanguine Caverns gate, you’ll find the Stonebled Gate Beacon. You’ll have to cleanse this beacon in order to cleanse the corruption outside of the Sanguine Caverns gate and to enter it.
Cleansing this beacon is not easy. You’ll find strong enemies inside. Furthermore, you have to fight against Lucian, the Thirsting Knight, a mini-boss.

After depleting half of Lucian’s HP, he’ll disappear deeper into the beacon. You’ll have to follow him. There will be a small crack in the wall where you can squeeze through.
In the next half of the boss battle, Lucian will gain the ability to become invisible. You have to stand in the light in the middle to keep Lucian exposed and to stop him from disappearing again.

Once you’ve defeated the mini-boss, get the ovum and return to the surface. The Sanguine Caverns gate will be free now.

Sanguine Caverns
As you walk through the gate, you’ll come across many stone enemies. These crawling enemies can be parried and riposted immediately if you counter their jumping attack once.
There will be more enemies here, some with multiple legs. These enemies can be stun-locked by light attacks from the Iconoclast weapon. However, if there are more than one, you can quickly get rid of them using the sidearm, as they’re somewhat weaker to it.

As you keep going, you’ll also encounter jumping devils. These enemies are defeated in one hit, but they jump around a lot and can grab you. Furthermore, avoid going too close to the cocoons, because they’ll explode.
If you pass over bridges and cliffs, you’ll have to be wary of exploding flying enemies. They’ll try their best to knock you off the cliff. Try to dodge immediately as you see the red dodge icon on the screen.

There will be a bridge here, but as you walk on it, it will fall. There will be a lot of jumping red enemies, as well as cocoons here.
Try to survive and go through the thin bridges. You’ll encounter some exploding enemies trying to push you off the bridge and the cliffs, but you’ll eventually reach the Pulsing Caves beacon.

Cleansing Pulsing Caves Beacon
As you dive into the beacon, you’ll find the same type of enemies as the outside area. Using the sidearm to quickly get rid of smaller, more nimble enemies is an effective way to survive here.
You’ll find the Blackblood Stone tarstone here inside one of the chests. Go through the bridge, and you’ll find the Ova locked behind the corruption.

After cleansing the beacon, return to the surface. There’s a hole nearby with some crawling stone enemies around it. Get rid of the enemies first.
The hole is filled with cocoons. Approach it and try to make the cocoons explode first. Once that’s done, jump into the hole.

There will be more cocoons and little red enemies here, so you’ll have to immediately get on the move. Try to fall deeper into the caverns.
You’ll find platforms where you can land, but since the fall damage isn’t that serious, you can take bigger jumps too without dying.

Once you reach the bottom, you’ll still find more holes in the ground, but don’t fall into them if they have any spikes. You’ll have to resume from the last beacon.
As you keep going, you’ll find three cocoons blocking your path. It’s best to just shoot them with the sidearm, instead of risking going close to them. You’ll then reach the Sanguine Shoreline Beacon.

Cleansing the Sanguine Shoreline Beacon is quite straightforward. There are a few enemies here that you’ll have to get rid of, but the Ova are just beyond them.
Return to the surface. You’ll find a bone teleporter nearby. Here, you’ll encounter the miniboss.

Tarblighted Stoner
The Tarblighted Stoner is just a more aggressive, more powerful version of the chunky rock-throwing enemy that you’ve encountered multiple times so far.
For this mini-boss, you’ll have to be very nimble. Don’t bother trying to parry his attacks unless you can confidently tell the difference, as most of them are unblockable.

At lower HP, the boss can start throwing rocks all around, so try to be patient and let him finish before approaching him for the finishing blows.
After you’ve defeated the Tarblighted Stoner, you can jump on the white spot and enter the Gate’s boss arena.

The Lost Child Boss Battle
The Lost Child is the main boss of the Sanguine Caverns. Most of its attacks are unavoidable. You can keep an eye on its left arm, as this melee attack can be easily parried in the first half of the fight.
The boss may run to a distance after turning its back on you and launch a barrage of projectiles. Here, you’ll have to dash repeatedly to the sides to avoid all the projectiles.

After the boss has lost around 60% of its HP, it will become even more aggressive. It will gain new attacks. The attack where it bites you thrice with its gigantic jaws can immediately reduce your HP to 0; if you’re a little late in blocking, it can stagger you immediately. But these three bites can also be parried or dodged.

In the second half of the fight, the boss can immediately launch a strike with its hand with no prior windup, unlike the first half.
Furthermore, if you see it inhaling with its jaws open, try to move away from the direction the boss is facing, as it will launch a stream of projectiles in your direction.

The general strategy for this boss battle is to dodge to avoid most of its attacks instead of blocking. You’ll have to be extremely careful once the boss’s HP drops below 50%.
Avoid the grab attacks at all costs. Once you’ve defeated the boss, it will drop the Lost Clotstone Tarstone, and a new beacon will emerge from the ground in the boss arena.

After that, you can enter the Child’s Feeding Ground beacon and recover multiple Ova of the UnderMether. There’s also a chest here where you can get a Blackmarrow Key, which can be used to unlock a cosmetic shade for a Shell that you’ve obtained from the Marrow Keep.
