Mortal Shell 2 Walkthrough

Mortal Shell 2 features the Harbinger, who has been collecting the Ova for the UnderMether and returning them to the Marrow Keep. There are a total of six Corrupted Gates in the game that you’ll have to cleanse. Dive into these gates and defeat the powerful boss that sits in their depths to recover more Ova for the UnderMether and move closer to your ultimate goal.

How To Reach The Faded Citadel

Faded Citadel is in the southernmost part of the southern region. It is usually the sixth gate you cleanse.

To get there, you’ll have to approach the town with coffin enemies. If you start from the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon, you’ll have to head southwest. However, if you have unlocked the Gate of Mammon Beacon, you can go southeast from there.

Starved Harridan

As soon as you start seeing white terrain, know that you’re close. You’ll have to go through the Lonesome Spire to reach the area. As you keep going, you’ll enter the area called the Vestige of Infinity.

Here, you’ll have to battle against the Starved Harridan boss. This boss has some unblockable attacks. Try to dodge them and attempt to parry everything else.

Parrying is exceptionally powerful against this mini-boss. You’ll only have to parry three attacks to stagger it, and you can deliver a powerful riposte.

There’s a heavy weight tied to the chain of the boss’s leg, and as its HP drops, it can swing it around. You’ll have to avoid that as well.

Defeating the boss will reward you with Voltaic Essence, and the path leading to the Fated Citadel will open.

Walk straight towards the gate, and you’ll find the Gate of Infinity Beacon just outside of the Fated Citadel. You’ll have to cleanse this beacon to unlock the gate.

Gate Of Infinity Beacon

Enter the beacon, and you’ll encounter a chest ahead with coins. Go deeper into the beacon. You’ll find several enemies here.

You’ll find two bookshelves here. Interact with the book on the right bookshelf, and it will open a path for you.

As you go deeper into the area, you’ll find more shelves here. There’s a pedestal that requires a certain type of book, but you won’t find it on any shelves.

The book is on top of the shelves, surrounded by candles. Once you find it, bring it back to the pedestal and the path will open. You’ll have to fight against a Wraith mini-boss first to cleanse the corruption in this beacon.

The Gloombound Wraith is a unique mini-boss. You can stagger it easily with regular attacks. However, after you’ve taken out over 50% of its HP, it will cover itself in a red barrier.

Now, you’ll have to destroy the books that are glowing red on the shelves first. Once all of these books have been destroyed, the barrier will be dispelled, and you’ll be able to finish off the Gloombound Wraith. You’ll be able to cleanse the Beacon then and will also obtain the Curseblood Stone Tarstone.

Ashen Sanctum

As you pass through the gate, you’ll find some head enemies. Keep going ahead, and you’ll encounter a blue lantern. Time appears to be frozen near these lamps, and if there’s any enemy under the blue light, they’re invulnerable to any damage.

You’ll have to draw them out of the blue lantern’s range, or shut it off by attacking the lantern a few times to disable its protection.

There will be a cave nearby. Enter the cave, and it will lead you to another blue lantern, but there’s a dual-wielding dancer enemy here.

Extinguish the lantern to open the two gates nearby. One of the paths leads to a chest containing the Summoning Stone Tarstone, while the other one leads you deeper into the dungeon.

There will be another blue lantern ahead, surrounded by multiple enemies. Draw them all away, and once they’re defeated, extinguish the blue flame to open a path.

You’ll enter a small pond-like area guarded by a scythe-wielding enemy. Defeat it and jump to the right, towards another shallow pool of water. You’ll find some head enemies here. Keep going, and you’ll eventually arrive at the Citadel Annex Beacon.

Citadel Annex Beacon

Before you enter the beacon, you’ll go around a circular path. It is to the south of the beacon. Make sure you go down there to find the Faded Gland. You’ll need it later on, so don’t miss it.

As you enter the beacon to cleanse it, you’ll have to walk over a bridge. There are altars on the way.

If you give a blood offering on these altars, you’ll lose a little HP but will become invulnerable within its range and can easily fight the horde of enemies.

There will be another altar ahead. After that, you’ll reach a lift. As you go up on the lift, a gigantic bug-like creature will appear.

You’ll have to jump on its head and stay still. The bug will deliver you to the destination in a while, and then you can get off on the other end.

Once you reach the destination, you’ll find a slithering enemy here. Defeat it, and you’ll find the Stillblade’s Stone Tarstone inside a chest.

Cleanse the beacon and return to the surface. Find the path ahead, and you’ll encounter another blue flame lantern. This one also has several tough enemies nearby, so be careful.

Solnir, The Gloom Seeker

After extinguishing the blue flame lantern, it will open up a path for you. If you keep going, you’ll find Solnir, the Gloom Seeker.

Solnir, the Gloom Seeker, is a more powerful version of the duel-wielding dancers with more HP.

There are multiple blue flame lanterns in the boss arena, and you should try to get rid of them first before focusing on the boss.

After the lanterns are gone, you’ll have to defeat the boss normally, as you would fight against any dual-wielding dancer. The boss drops the Solnir’s Shard tarstone on defeat, and the path ahead will open.

Follow the path straight ahead from Solnir’s boss arena until you reach a bone gate. Look around to find the Citadel Atrium Beacon.

Citadel Atrium Beacon

The Citadel Atrium Beacon is quite straightforward to cleanse. You’ll have to fight against a significant number of enemies at once, which are in the range of two blue flame lanterns.

Your first task here is to attack the lantern to extinguish it. After that, you can focus on the enemies. There’s no need to extinguish them both at once; just one is fine enough for you to clear the entire area because attacking two lanterns can be quite challenging when dealing with so many enemies.

Once you’ve defeated the enemies and cleansed the Ova, return to the surface. There will be a bone gate that takes you to Ruk. You’ll find the boss here.

Sir Isaac, The Scholar-Prince

Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince is easily one of the most challenging boss battles in the game. He is incredibly nimble and hard-hitting.

You can summon Lazlo as the supporting Shell for this battle, but he doesn’t do much. If you’re playing as Tiel, the battle might be a little easier.

Sir Isaac immediately attacks you after getting attacked once. He’ll either swing his sword or bash you with his shield.

The best strategy for this battle is to land just one hit at a time. Hit Sir Isaac and run away. You can parry his easier attacks if you’re standing right in his face.

After losing around 40% HP, Sir Isaac abandons his shield and switches to four swords. Here, his attacks are even more devastating.

Tiel is good here because his skill allows you to disappear after a perfect dodge, leaving a clone behind, which inflicts poison, and the boss keeps attacking the clone.

In the second phase, you’ll have to wait for Sir Isaac’s attacks to finish and strike him only when he’s recovering after performing an attack. His attack sequences are quite long, and you can easily get locked between his attacks and lose all of your HP.

Some of his attacks are quick to recover, but then you shouldn’t be greedy; land one hit only before retreating and prepare to avoid the next attack.

If you keep chipping away at his HP this way, you’ll eventually be able to defeat Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince, completely.

You’ll obtain Scholar’s Wormstone Tarstone as a reward for defeating the boss, and a beacon will also appear. You can claim the Ova inside the beacon and return to Marrow Keep.
