Continue The Journey

After Quill received the rest she needed, she is ready to continue on her journey to save Argus. Progress forward toward the right until you reach the area where three pillars are.

Before you can platform to the upper floor, keep going right and you will see green sparks. Interact with them to create the second Twilight Garden portal.

Inside, go and speak to the toad again so he can give you your second trial and unlock another root door for you. Go through it to start the test.

The Second Twilight Garden Portal

In the first room, you will spot a floor button and an enemy. First, position Quill on the button to remove the barrier, then control the enemy to reach the second button and position it there.

This will unlock the path north, where you will see hidden platforms. You may notice a lever here, but now is not the time. What you need to do is progress toward the entrance on the far right.

Upon reaching the second room, the roots will block the way you came in. Go to the middle of the room and interact with the lever there. This will unlock the door to the right, allowing you to progress forward.

Obtain The New Sword Upgrade

Here you will find a chest that grants Quill a new weapon upgrade. When you charge your melee attack, the sword will be able to send a projectile. This is useful for targeting devices you can’t reach.

The best demonstration for this new ability is in this room itself. Charge your sword and aim at the device ahead to clear the root so you can backtrack.

This new upgrade also changes the moveset of your regular melee attacks, as it sends swift thrust attacks toward enemies.

Complete The Trial

Back in the room where the lever was, you will need to fight a few waves of enemies. Defeat all of them. When that is done, the floor button will begin functioning.

Step on it and then pull the spiral staircase above. Direct it toward the device ahead and then use your new charged ability to activate it.

This will remove part of the roots, and you need two more devices to activate. On each side, there is a platform that moves up and down with a device positioned in front of it.

All you need to do is rotate the spiral staircase toward each side, stand on the platform until it reaches the top, and use the charged attack to activate the device.

Once all three devices are active, you can backtrack to the previous room. Now this is where the trick comes in.

Head to the southern platform where you have a direct line of sight to the enemy, then use your charged attack to kill it. This will respawn another enemy back at the first button location.

This is exactly what we need since we are already on this side. Simply control the enemy and place it on the first button, then the barrier will be removed and you can interact with the lever there.

Do so, and the door will unlock, completing the trial. You can now leave the Twilight Garden and continue your journey.

Enter The Mines

Back in the real world, use the three movable platforms to reach the door at the top and access the mines area. As soon as you enter the next room, a group of enemies will spawn and you need to defeat all of them.

After that, take the lift on the right side and continue forward until you reach the next room.

You will find a Ticker enemy here, and the path is blocked by rubble. Control the enemy and direct it toward the first pile of rubble to clear the way.

Next, move the second Ticker toward the wooden box, then interact with the device on the left to move the Ticker to the opposite side, where it can destroy the second pile of rubble.

Now take Quill to the second device on the opposite side, then return the wooden box to its original position. Control the Ticker and position it beside the box, then activate the device to move it upward.

Destroy the final pile of rubble to clear the path. Although the door will still be locked, you need to reach the lever.

To do that, make sure the wooden box is raised and Quill is standing on it, then use the Ticker to move it across to the lever.

Interact with the lever to unlock the door, then return with the wooden box and proceed through.

This elevator will take you back to the top, where you will find another lever on the left side. Interact with it just in case, though the exit from the mines is actually on the right.

Sneak Past The Sentinel Eyes

This leads to the village near the castle. Continue forward until you reach a section featuring an Eye Sentry. This machine you need to avoid at all cost because it can instantly kill Quill.

Luckily, the path collapses near a cover point where there is a lever. Interact with the lever to reveal a cover, then rotate the device to stay out of sight of the Eye Sentry and continue forward.

The next room contains another Eye Sentry, but this one also has a hidden passage underneath it. Use the passage to reach the entrance on the left side.

Climb the stairs and make sure the barrier is blocking the sentry’s line of sight before interacting with the lever. This will bring up additional barriers that you can use for cover.

Return to the hidden passage and this time head through the entrance on the right side. Climb the stairs and rotate the device so the barrier blocks the sentry’s vision, allowing you to move upward safely.

Before leaving, rotate the device one final time so the barrier blocks the sentry’s view, then exit into the next room.

You will now encounter a giant Eye Sentry guarding the path to the castle, and it appears there is no way around it.

As you approach, the Wisp returns. It seems he has finally located your uncle, but the Master Sentry is blocking the path. You need to follow him so you can deactivate it.

Deactivate The Master Sentry

Follow the Wisp back to the village, where he unlocks both the left and right paths. At the end of each route, you will find a component needed to shut down the Master Sentry.

We started with the right side. Inside this room, you will find a device inside a movable block. Whenever you hit it, the block moves along the track. There are also barriers you can pull down to stop its movement.

The goal is to ride the movable block and reach the bar entrance in the upper-right corner. There are also green sparks above it, indicating another Twilight Garden portal.

The Third Twilight Garden Portal

We decided to reach the portal first. To do that, lower the barriers and attack the device to move the block downward. Then pull the blue box into position so you can jump onto it.

Make your way to the lever and activate it. This opens a gate that releases an enemy that fires projectiles, which is needed to solve the puzzle.

Return to the movable block. From the blue box, jump onto the rooftop, then control the enemy and fire at the device. Doing so will send you directly to the green spark portal.

Complete The Trial

This is the final Twilight Garden portal, and it leads to your third and final trial required to become Champion. Enter the final root door that the toad unlocks.

The first room requires you to activate all three devices before you can continue. The trick is that they must be activated in a specific order.

  • The order is top-left device, right-side device, then bottom device.

Cross to the opposite side and climb upward. Jump across and use the root to reach the top-left device, then activate it. From there, backtrack and activate the right-side device.

If you prefer, you can use your charged attack to activate devices from a distance without jumping directly to them. For the final device, simply head downward, activate the bottom device, and the exit will open.

Go to the next room and defeat all enemy waves that spawn. Once they are defeated, continue through the door on the right.

There is a device at the top of this room. Activate it to raise the platform and carry you to the upper section of the garden. Here you will face the Recast Commander.

Defeat The Recast Commander

The Recast Commander constantly throws projectiles at Quill’s location, so you must keep moving. Fortunately, an indicator appears on the floor showing where each projectile will land.

Because of this, they are fairly easy to avoid. Throughout the fight, you will need to switch between the three available platforms while also working to activate the three devices around the arena.

All three devices can be activated using your charged attack. Start with the center device, after which the remaining two devices will appear.

Once all three devices have been activated, the barrier protecting the Recast Commander will disappear and he will descend to the lower platforms.

At this stage, position yourself directly in front of him and attack with your charged strike. After taking enough damage, he will retreat to the upper area where he cannot be reached and begin firing projectiles while enemies spawn.

This phase can become hectic. The best strategy is to control the spawned enemies so they cannot attack you, avoid the incoming projectiles, and eliminate the enemies when possible.

Eventually, the Recast Commander returns to the center and restores his barrier. At that point, repeat the same process a second time.

After two successful damage phases, the Recast Commander drops onto the center platform and engages directly. This is your opportunity to unleash everything you have and finish the fight.

Feel free to retreat to the side platforms whenever you need healing or breathing room, but continue watching for incoming projectiles.

After defeating the Recast Commander, the trial will be complete and all three portals will be finished. Don’t forget to high-five Quill for all her hard work.

The great Sprite Champion will appear and congratulate Quill for completing the trials. Surprisingly, the only reward is the associated achievement.

Collect The First Gear

Back in the real world, we still need to ride the movable block and reach the opposite side.

Make sure the block is reset to the start of the track and the barriers are raised. Then position yourself where you can jump onto the block and shoot the device.

As the block moves, time your jump carefully so you can land on the rooftop.

Enter the bar and open the chest to obtain one of the two missing gears needed to deactivate the sentry.

Collect The Second Gear

Backtrack to the center of the village and take the left-side door. This room contains multiple devices and enemies that must be used to solve the puzzle.

Start by clearing the thorn-covered path to the north, then move to the circular platform. Control the enemy and fire at the device on the right side to raise it.

Next, place Quill on the floor button to remove the barrier, then use the enemy’s projectile to activate the device again and lower it. After that, move the enemy onto the circular platform.

Take Quill back to the first device and raise it once more. Then use the enemy to hit the second device to the north, lowering the far upper-left platform.

One final step remains. Move Quill onto the second platform, then use the enemy attack to activate the device again and raise it, granting access to the next room.

Inside, you will find a chest containing the second missing gear needed to deactivate the Master Sentry.

Disable The Master Sentry

After obtaining both gears needed to disable the Master Sentry, head back to the center of the village and stand on the floor button near the fountain.

Interact with both handles to place the gears, and the platform will rise, revealing three levers that you can pull.

Once you pull all three levers, the power will be cut and the Master Sentry will be deactivated. You now have safe passage to the castle.

Enter The Castle

At the castle gate, you will be stopped by several waves of enemies. All you need to do is defeat them. With each wave you clear, you will notice that the Master Sentry hasn’t been fully shut down.

After defeating all the enemies, the sentry will come back online and aim directly at you with no way to escape. Luckily, the Wisp notices a drain grate that can be used as an escape route. With no other option, Quill jumps down.

Follow the Wisp as you venture deeper into the area. As soon as you reach the next room, you will come face-to-face with a giant serpent.

The sight fills Quill with terror. Her first instinct is to run, and fortunately she manages to squeeze through a small opening in the wall.

Quill escapes from Sarffog, but she is frightened and has no idea how to deal with the monster. It is the only thing standing between her and the castle, and saving her uncle Argus.

Escape From Sarffog

Back in the game, move forward and climb your way up to the bridge leading to the castle. You will eventually reach a balcony with a ballista, and suddenly Sarffog will appear.

Quickly pull back the ballista to load the arrow, then interact with the lever to fire it at the serpent. This enrages Sarffog, and he immediately destroys the ballista, sending Quill crashing down.

From here, the path is fairly straightforward. All you need to do is keep moving while carefully platforming and avoiding Sarffog.

Eventually, you will reach a second ballista, where you need to repeat the same process. Load the arrow and pull the lever to fire at Sarffog once again.

Unfortunately, just as you are about to fire, Sarffog escapes and you will need to continue forward. As you make your way toward the castle, Sarffog will chase you and launch fireballs in your direction.

You need to avoid his attacks while continuing to platform forward. You may die a few times here, and that’s okay. Eventually, you will learn the timing and make it through.

Defeat Sarffog

After passing through the castle gate, Sarffog will block the path and begin firing projectiles at you inside the arena. It’s finally time to end this.

Make your way to the upper floor and take the zipline. Stand on the floor button, and it will pull down the gate. However, because Sarffog’s tail is blocking it, you will need to force it down.

Doing so will injure Sarffog and create an opening for Quill to strike him in the face, bringing his reign of terror to an end once and for all.

Save Argus

Nothing is stopping you now. Go through the castle gate and keep running forward until you reach Argus’ cage. Quill uses her sword to force it open and finally rescue her uncle.

Argus is worried about Quill and urges her to leave because of the serpent and the enemy threat. Little does he know that Quill has become much stronger during her journey, and the bond between her and the Reader has grown stronger as well.

Just as Quill asks Argus to return home, it becomes clear that the danger did not end with Sarffog. The King’s Glass is what the Arcane are truly after, and Argus’ duty is to protect it.

The End Of Book 1

With Argus finally rescued, one chapter of Quill’s journey comes to a close. However, the threat of the Arcane still looms over the kingdom, and the mystery surrounding the King’s Glass is only beginning.

The adventure continues in Book 2, where even greater challenges and discoveries await.
