Chapter 2: Fathomless Grave
On gaining control of Ed, interact with the Doc’s control panel, which is to the immediate right of its ‘brain’.
Then, go northwest through the door to the Lobby.
Here you’ll talk to the Sheriff – your first suspect – and learn that the Sheriff will not let you leave until you have a note from the Doc.
This is your main objective for this Chapter – to get the doctor’s note.
For now, return to the Exam Room as you’ve got the fuses you need to fix the Doc. Use the fuses on the Doc’s access panel and you’ll encounter a puzzle.
In this puzzle, you have to make the colors on the wheels to the right correspond to the color of the ‘marked’ fuse.
The first marked fuse is blue, so rotate the wheels until only the blue color is exposed on the wheels.
The screenshot below shows what you need to do for Blue. Click on the fuse after you’re done to replace it and move on to the next fuse.
Repeat the process for Yellow, making sure you only see yellow on the wheels to the right.
Next up is the tricky green one. Here, expose the green color on the outermost wheel, and make the inner wheels a combination of yellow and blue.
Replace the last fuse to get the Doc running again.
Our next goal is to trick the doctor by having some kind of organic material on the scanner, as clearly Ed alone isn’t cutting it. However, we’ll first focus on getting a look at the corpse in the morgue. It’s guarded by the deputy, who refuses to let up.
In the morgue, pick up the corked vial of acid on the table to the southeast.
Also pick up the Laser Bone Saw to the left of the deputy.
Return to the Lobby now and pick up the lunch box to the right of the screen.
Use the Laser Bone Saw on the spring to the right (where the Lunch Box was) to obtain the spring.
In your inventory, combine the spring with the corked acid to be able to access the acid.
Next up, we need to acquire the sleeping pills lying on the counter in the lobby, which we can combine with the acid to form laughing gas. However, the nurse is quite diligent when it comes to guarding the sleeping pills.
First, pick up the rubber glove on the lobby counter, to the right of the nurse.
Return to the Exam Room and pick up the scalpel sticking out of the exam table.
In the inventory, combine the rubber glove with the scalpel.
Return to the lobby now and go to the very bottom-left of the screen.
You’ll find an electrical outlet below the counter – use your Scalpel Wrapped in Rubber on it.
Ed will automatically swipe the sleeping pills in the dark.
Now return to the morgue and then in your inventory, combine the sleeping pills with the uncorked vial of acid.
Now that the deputy is knocked out, check out the covered body.
Examine all three objects on the slab – the ticket book, the body, and the key.
With this done, pick up the dead rodent lying on the floor, near the bed.
Return to the Exam Room now and use the dead rodent on the scanner to learn that the Doc performs a thermal resuscitation procedure if it detects the organic material on the scanner is too cold.
Return to the morgue now and pick up the heart in a jar to the lower-right of the screen.
Our goal now is to thaw the heart and get it beating, so that the Doc will be tricked into giving Ed his medical note.
Return to the Exam Room and place the Frozen Heart in a Jar on the exam table.
Once again, use the dead rodent on the scanner and then after the heart is thawed, pick up the Thawed Heart in a Jar.
In your inventory, examine your lunch box to open it and find a rotten potato inside.
Now head to the Med Kit on the wall to the right of the Doc. Use your Spring on it to unlock the Med Kit.
Combine the Heart in the Jar with the Tape to attach the rotten potato to the jar. Then, combine this with the Suture Needles.
You will ultimately get a Potato-Powered Heart. Behold how it beats.
Use the potato-powered heart with the scanner to finally get the Doc to recognize your beating heart.
With your note in hand, return to the Lobby and hand it over to the Sheriff.
Finally, go to the very bottom of the screen to find the exit. Leave the clinic to conclude this chapter.
