Nighthawks is a visual novel game where you play as a vampire. In a world where vampires are common, you’ll have to find a way to earn your place in the world while also dealing with cunning vampires who are older and much more powerful than you. Your choices here will shape the direction of your success, but keep in mind that the other vampires aren’t going to make anything easy.

Prologue
As the game begins, you have to select your Sire, Origin, Gift, and Knowledge. Each choice here affects your starting bonuses.
I went with the Aristocrat Sire, Imperial Origin, Beast Within Gift, and Technology Knowledge. You can pick anything that suits your taste. Different options are useful for different situations, but there’s nothing here that will allow you to cover everything.

After making your choices, you’ll find yourself in front of Elijah Morrow’s apartment door. It’s the last thing you remember.
Knock on the door and enter. You’ll have to decide what you’re actually looking for. It can be a watch, a gold ring, or a locket.

After you’re done exploring the apartment, an old lady will show up and point her gun towards you. Here, you have the choice. You can either drain the woman’s blood as a vampire or control the urges.
Your choice here doesn’t matter much. It can relate to what NPCs you’ll meet shortly after. Anyway, I picked the option to resist the urges.

As you’re running away from the apartment, you’ll encounter two figures. They’ll beat you up, and you’ll have to find your way back to your sanctuary.
This will end the prologue. The choices you’ve made in the prologue aren’t that different, but they serve as a foundation for what’s to come later on. For example, if you selected that you’re looking for a watch, the watch will be coming up later on in the story, but if you had picked the ring or the necklace, it would be the same outcome.

Act 1: The King Of Cradlebridge
Now that the Prologue is over, you’ll start in the Halcyon Hotel. You’ll meet an NPC as you try to get out of bed. In my case, it was Veronica Castigliano.
Get to know her better and ask her to follow you as a companion. You can then head out of the hotel.

Before heading out of the hotel, you can choose to try and sneak a peek at the resident list. You’ll find Domino Quick’s address on the list. You can go and talk to him, but he’ll ask you to do him a favor first before he can do anything for you.
When you hit the streets, there are four locations that you can get to, alongside the sewers. The Sewers can get you anywhere, but you’ll have to learn to navigate them.

Navigating The Sewers
While you don’t have to rely on sewers for most of the gameplay, some quests may require you to head there for some tasks.
Sewers have a number for each room. Let’s say you’re at M4; going east will get you to N4, while going west will let you reach L4.

The sewer sections are a combination of letters and numbers. Going south increments the number, while going north decreases it. For example, if you’re in room L4, if you go north, you’ll arrive in room L3, but if you go south, you’ll arrive in L5.
You’ll have to memorize the addresses for each sewer opening, so you can get out there. The Blackmarket is on M13; M0 leads to Angelbreach, while Z11 lets you reach Fountaincourt. The addresses may be uncovered via exploration and some quests. Note that if your companion is Agatha Condell, she can guide you through the Sewers for certain quests.

Unlocking Nighthawks
Go to Old Town. You may find Lux here. Watch her street show. You’ll find a guy here distributing flyers. Interact with the man, and that will unlock the Nighthawks club on the map.
Old Town has several useful locations. You can also work a shift here at the Salvation Centre to get some money.

To progress the story, you’ll have to head to the Salvation Centre in Old Town. You’ll find Dr. Irene Velasco here.
Talk to the Dr. and ask her about Elijah Morrow. After that, you should also get familiar with Saoirse Kane.

Meeting With The King
Go and visit the Nighthawks club. You’ll have to stand in queue if it’s your first time here. Once you’re in, visit the bar.
The bar is where you’ll find most NPCs that are familiar with you. You’ll also find Brenda the Bartender here. Talk to her, and the King will show himself.

You’ll then meet with Sam Tancredi. He’ll make it clear that he’s the king around here. You’ll have to try to not get on his bad side. Tell him about your gift, and he’ll ask you to talk to Gideon, his right-hand man.
Once you’re done talking to Sam and Gideon, you can exit the area and head out. Keep in mind that you have plenty of days to complete the quest. You can often come to Sam Tancredi to accept odd jobs from him, which will result in you earning money. After completing a quest for Tancredi, head to Gideon to receive your payments.

St. Raphael’s Hospital Ruins
Approach the woman outside of the building. You can ask to see the doctor here. You’ll find Samuel Finch here, an odd doctor.
Samuel Finch asks you to bring any fresh pieces to him after you’ve completed a hunt, and he’ll heal your wounds in exchange.

Going On A Hunt
As a vampire, you have to hunt. If many days go by without a hunt, you’ll feel your bloodlust growing. While drinking blood from bags and stuff can keep your thirst in check, you’ll still need to hunt once in a while.
To begin a hunt, you’ll have to return to your sanctuary. At this point in the story, it should be the Halcyon Hotel. Return to your Sanctuary and plan the hunt.

When you’re hunting, you have to hide yourself and avoid raising any sort of suspicion. There are forces here that don’t want you to get what you desire.
You may encounter officers on your way, and you’ll have to deal with them if you want to continue on the hunt. Making the right choices will fill the bar regarding your craving.

Once you’ve hunted a potential target, if Samuel Finch’s quest is active, you can choose to bring your target to his place after you’ve got what you needed from them, and he’ll heal your injuries in return.

On Elijah Morrow’s Trail
By now, you’ll have to complete several quests for Sam Tracedi, the King. Go to St. Raphael’s Hospital Ruins and approach the woman. You’ll find an option to head to the Shooting Gallery that Dr. Velasco mentioned.
Show Elijah’s driving license to the people. You can get Elijah’s phone from here. Return to your Sanctuary to check out the contents of the phone. You’ll find a logo in the pictures here.

Keep checking in with Becca at the bar in Nighthawks about rumors. One of the rumors is about strange disappearances near the Hospital Ruins. Confront Finch about it, and if you’re successful, you might get some info on Miss Riordan.
Try to find the morgue in the hospital ruins. You’ll find Velasco’s name here. It turns out the King had been trying to keep this operation a secret. You can go and tell Dr. Velasco about the strange disappearances.

Back to the topic of the Logo that you found in Morrow’s phone, you’ll have to ask around for it. Becca is the ideal option here. Go and talk to Becca about the logo, and she’ll tell you that the logo belongs to a group called the Human Edge.
Becca will promise to report to you if she hears anything about this strange group. All you can do now is wait.

The Human Edge
After a day has passed since your talk with Becca, she’ll contact you again. Go to the Nighthawks and talk to her again. She’ll tell you about this location called Sly’s Basement.
You’ll have to go there next. There’s a man standing guard here. I chose to scout the rest of the area. I found a white mask but nothing worthwhile.

Approach the man at the front. He asks for a password, but I couldn’t figure out the correct password, as each of the options was wrong. Anyway, after several failed attempts and a few skill checks, you’ll be able to get in.
As you head inside, you’ll find a man with a red mask. Hearing him will unlock another milestone in your trail of Elijah Morrow.

You’ll have to avoid raising suspicion in this area. Talk to the red-masked man and memorize his features. I got discovered while roaming around the basement and had to run away.
You’ll then have to return and report to the king about the group and their doings. Sam Tancredi will ask you about the man’s features. He has reddish hair and wears a leather jacket and jeans, and has green eyes. Even if you answer wrong, there’s not much to lose here.

The very next day, you’ll find Morrow’s body outside, and Sam is here as well. It appears to be the work of Human Edge.
Now, you have to wait for Tancredi’s call to action at your sanctuary.

The King
Once it’s time, Saoirse Kane will come to pick you up. Go with them, and they’ll take you to the King. As you plan to raid the Human Edge’s base with Sam, it turns out everyone is already dead inside.

You can search the bodies for your missing locket/watch/ring. But you won’t find it here. After everything is done and dusted in the scene, you’ll have to talk with Sam Tancredi.
He’ll be about to kill you, but a gigantic vampire saves you and disappears. Saoirse Kane comes running, but they think you’re the one who killed the king.

Now, you have a choice: you can protest that you didn’t do that, but I picked the option to boast about it. You can then return to Gideon at the Nighthawks club.
You’ll experience a time skip here shortly. Nighthawks is your Sanctuary now, and Gideon serves you, but you’re losing money. You’ll have to prove that you’re the new king of the Nighthawks, and Gideon has a plan for it.
