Welcome to Into Indie Games’ walkthrough for Nine Sols. In this part we cover the quickest path through the first area of the game and the first boss Baichung.

After watching the intro cut scene, ShuanShuan will come talk to you. Go through the short tutorial and learn the basics of movement. Pick up the Dead Person’s Note off the corpse.

Picking up the Crimson Hibiscus

Next learn the combo and pick up the Camp Scroll. Talk to ShuanShuan and chase after the pig for the Crimson Hibiscus by climbing the rope and jumping over. Use your grappling hook and gain ground. Kill the worms and the pig and pick up the Crimson Hibiscus.

Go to the left and run over the water and you will find a blocked path to come back to later. Take the path to the right back to ShuanShuan.

The Ceremony

Back at the village, talk to everyone that you can talk to and prepare for the Ceremony. Go through the cutscenes with Ruyi and Shennog. And finally watch the cutscene and descend down the elevator.

Head to the Apeman Facility

Go to the right after getting off the elevator and kill the enemy that charges at you. Save at the Root Node. Go to the right, drop down and dash through the lasers. Go up and to the right to pick up the Blood Soaked Crimson Hibiscus.

Head to the right and keep going till you reach the location below –

Dodge this heavy enemy’s attack. Take the path on the right and drop down, keep heading down till you reach the bottom floor. Then go to the left and up, clearing up all the enemies on your way. Head up the stairs after the garden and wall jump up. Dash through the laser and hack the elevator.

But before heading up, head to the left, clear the debris and move down. At the very bottom you will find the Apemen Surveillance Footage.

As you move to the right now, you will hear an alarm go off in the Livestock Area. Soon Ruyi will call in and after the conversation head to the right and down the stairs to exit this area.

Apeman Facility (Elevator) – Path to Baichang

Head down the stairs and save at the Root Node. Grapple jump on to the ledge and head right. Eventually, you will come up on a Gauntlet.

After clearing it head to the right and take out the enemies on the platforms. Go to the right and take the elevator down. Jump on top of the moving platform and take out the enemies on the other side. Clear this area and head up the stairs. Drop down and head to the left and take the elevator down. Jump to the left for a secret room containing a Basic Component.

Drop down and head to the Root Node and save. Go down the stairs and clear the next open area you see. Use the grappling hook to your advantage. Head to the right and up through the opening. Go to the right and drop and come up to this location –

You need an ability to get across so remember this place. Go to the right again and use the healing station. You will have the first boss fight now – The Red Tiger Elite : Baichang.

The boss does an under-swing with his sword and swipes upwards. It can be parried. So, parry it and stick a charm on him every time he swings from the bottom.
He jumps and smashes his sword downwards. This too can be parried.
He does a triple overhead swing. These attacks can be parried.
He does two under swings in a row. Both attacks can be parried but the first attack can’t be interrupted.

Dying on this fight will cause you to meet Lear. He teaches you the basics of combat. Otherwise killing Baichang will net you the Stasis Jade.
