No Rest For The Wicked – Sacrament Walkthrough

After you finish the prologue of No Rest for the Wicked and learn about the king’s death and the Pestilence plague, you find yourself, the Cerim, torn of everything he had, only wrapped in some rugs and having lost all your gear, on the shores of what you hope to be the island of Sacra.

This is where you will need to try and figure out how to get out of here and reach the island in order to progress your quest.

Note
This is part of our No Rest For The Wicked – Guides And Walkthrough Hub, so if you want more content, guides or walkthrough about the game be sure to check it out.

The Shallows

No Rest for the Wicked

The Shallows is the first area that you will be able to explore, but here you have no weapon, no armor, no gear, nothing at all, so you are very vulnerable. You need to take it slowly.

Progress to the west, where you will see the captain of the ship bleeding on the side of the bridge. Speaking with him will grant you your very first quest, which is called Sacrament.

No Rest for the Wicked

When you open the map, you will see that your objective will take you to the very northeast of the map, so this is where you need to be, but it won’t be an easy adventure.

Note
There are resources around all of the coast, so if you see something shining, make sure to pick it up, as you will be able to use it to craft something later or sell it for extra money.

Make your way to the west and cross the bridge, where you will find a body that you can loot. This will give you a weapon, which you can use to defend yourself.

Fire Pit Location

No Rest for the Wicked

More crab enemies will be on your way, so just defeat any that you come across. Just north of here, you will be able to see a bonfire; in this game, they are called Fire Pits.

Fire Pits are like cooking stations, where you can use the ingredients you’ve gathered to cook meals.

These meals have a healing effect that recovers your health. However, certain ones can grant additional buffs depending on which ingredients you used.

No Rest for the Wicked

These will be marked on your map, so you won’t have to wonder where they are, and they can serve as a good directional point.

You can explore around the Fire Pit and west of it for some extra resources, chests, and loot before following the main progression path, which is north.

Note
Make sure you craft a few mushroom soups before progressing forward.

Whisper Location

No Rest for the Wicked

Toward the west of the pit, you will see a tower, and if you make your way inside, you will find a beam of light that is called a Whisper.

Whispers act like checkpoints, allowing you to rest and save your progress in the game and have two purposes:

  • Resting at one also respawns all enemies in that area, which can help you farm more items.
  • In case you die, you will go back to the last Whisper you interacted with.
No Rest for the Wicked

One last thing before moving to the main path is to use the ladder to go to the top of the tower, where there will be a big chest, but it is guarded by a strong enemy, so you need to be careful before engaging.

After you finish exploring around, head back to the Fire Pit and go north from it, where you will reach the next region.

Mariner’s Keep

No Rest for the Wicked

After you reach the Mariner’s Keep, there will be two paths that you can follow: one to the right and one to the left.

The one to the right will be the straightforward path to progress forward. This means we will be taking the long detour to explore.

Note
Before progressing, make sure you defeat all nearby enemies ahead and, of course, always pick up any resources that you find on the way.

No Rest for the Wicked

Take the stairs up and follow the path north until you reach a tower. Make sure you pick up any blue loot that you find alongside the way as well.

Take the ladder up and then progress to the right. Eventually, you will come across another Whisper, so make sure to save your progress here.

Save The Merchant

No Rest for the Wicked

From here, head down, where you will see a big bonfire in the middle, surrounded by multiple enemies.

Here you will overhear some thugs holding a merchant as a prisoner and threatening him, but the door will be locked, and you need to find a key for it.

Don’t worry, we’ll go back to save this merchant as we need him. But for now, follow the path east until you reach a locked gate. Unfortunately, you cannot operate this gate, as you are missing a level for it.

No Rest for the Wicked

Go down south until you reach a corpse at the edge, lying around. Loot its body, and you will get the Mess Hall Key. With this key, you can go back to the merchant and save him.

After you unlock the door, you need to defeat the three enemies there, but it’s best not to try and kill them all at once. Try to lure them one by one, as it will be easier to get rid of them.

No Rest for the Wicked

Once you clear the area, speak to the merchant Fillmore. You will learn that he was the one behind sabotaging and locking the gate so enemies would not reach the walls of Sacra.

Unlock The Gate

No Rest for the Wicked

Given that you helped him, he will give you the contraption to unlock the gate yourself. In addition to that, you will also be able to buy, sell, and even repair your gear here.

Note
Make sure to check what he has for sale and sell any unnecessary items before moving forward.

Now that you are finished, head back to the locked gate area, but the lever is on the upper floor. You can easily use the broken carriage nearby to climb to it.

No Rest for the Wicked

From there, simply head to the right, and you will be able to put the lever back in place. This will open the gate, and you will be able to progress forward.

Follow the road to the right until you reach a bridge. However, you will notice that you can’t cross because the other side is blocked.

Cross The Bridge

No Rest for the Wicked

To the north, you will see a lever that, when interacted with, will raise the current wooden platform and bring a second wooden platform into position.

That is what you should do, but if you want to reach a secret area for some extra loot, interact with the lever a second time to be taken down. Here, there will be a bunch of resources and a few chests to open and loot.

After you finish in this area, go back to the lever and now use the wooden platform to go up. Jump to the other side and follow the road until you spot two hunters near a Fire Pit.

These are harmless people who won’t attack. Before you interact with them, go a bit south and lower the bridge so it can serve as a shortcut.

No Rest for the Wicked

You can go back and talk to the two hunters, and after that, follow the path east, where you will see another Whisper, where you can save your progress and rest before pressing on to the next area, called Orban Glades.

Orban Glades

No Rest for the Wicked

From this Whisper, if you just want to progress through the story quickly, you can simply continue the path east, and eventually you will encounter a boss fight that you need to defeat.

But there are a couple of nearby areas that you can explore before doing so to get some extra loot.

Exploring

No Rest for the Wicked

Before entering the boss arena, head south toward the water and make it to the other side. There will be a few ingredients you can collect and a chest.

From here, if you have enough stamina, you can swim west until you reach the waterfall. From here, you will find a piece of loot, and then you can climb the ledge to the north.

You will come into an area with four statues and a bunch of ingredients to collect, but that’s not all.

No Rest for the Wicked

When you finish collecting everything here, use the branch to cross to the other side toward the chest guarded by the enemy. Defeat the enemy and open the chest.

The second area that you can access is by making your way back to the small camp where you met Lara and her father. You will not find them there anymore, but there is a path that leads up.

Make your way there and climb the vines to reach the upper level. Cross the wooden bridge to the east, and you will be able to see the city of Sacrament from this side.

No Rest for the Wicked

But that’s not what we are here for. There are a few enemies to kill and more ingredients and chests and loot to grab, so make sure you collect everything.

After you finish looting this area, you can follow the path west, which will lead you to a ladder tag that you can activate to create a shortcut.

That’s pretty much it for this area, and now you can go and proceed toward the boss fight that is holding the path between you and Sacrament.

Warrick The Torn Boss Fight

No Rest for the Wicked

Before entering the boss area, it’s recommended that you are at least level 4 and have a decent weapon in your possession that you are comfortable using, and of course, enough meals to heal yourself.

This is your first boss fight, so it will put your skills to the test, and one skill that you need to master is your stamina management.

Stamina management in this fight is everything, as Warrick is aggressive and throws a bunch of attacks at your face with his great sword. You will want to dodge all his attacks rather than block them.

No Rest for the Wicked
Note
Of course, when you miss a dodge, you can always guard if you have a shield equipped.

Warrick usually performs his attacks in the form of combos but doesn’t always follow up. This is where you need to be careful. Don’t get greedy, but watch his attack pattern.

If it seems that he won’t go for a follow-up, this is your key to land a few hits. Keep a bit of stamina to disengage.

No Rest for the Wicked

A lot of his sword attacks are overhead strikes, lunging stabs extending the sword, horizontal swings, and sometimes he even performs a spin swing. That’s a lot of attacks that he can combine into a combo.

You just need to be patient and take the fight slowly, watch his movements, and only land a couple of hits before falling back. Being greedy is what most likely will make you lose the fight.

It will most likely take you a few attempts, but you should eventually memorize all his attack patterns and win.

After you defeat him, not only will you gain access to Sacrament, but you will also get your first legendary weapon, called Corpse-Smeared Blade.

Welcome To Sacrament

No Rest for the Wicked

After you defeat the beast, progress toward the gate leading to Sacrament. At the gate, you will be approached by some soldiers asking you to state your business.

You can’t blame them because of the plague that’s been spreading around, and they are just overprotecting the city. Ellsworth alongside Winnick realizes that you are the Cerim that the Watcher foresaw would come.

Knowing your nature, Ellsworth urges you to seek the Watcher himself, who can be found at the Rockery north of the city.

Now you will have access to Sacrament city, and you will be able to explore, but we recommend that you first make your way to the Rockery and speak with the Watcher, then wait until the next day.

No Rest for the Wicked

After you arrive at the Rockery, you will be greeted by Roan, who is the servant of the Watcher. He will introduce himself and be surprised to meet the Cerim himself in the flesh.

The cutscene will show the Watcher holding a raven in his hand and mumbling some random words, as he does not acknowledge the arrival of the Cerim.

Roan explains that the Watcher has grown old, and it has affected him. Out of nowhere, you will hear the horn of someone arriving at the city.

The Arrival Of The Inquisition

No Rest for the Wicked

Roan from the Rockery sees that Madrigal Seline and the Inquisition have arrived to check on Sacrament, and she is being greeted by Ellsworth and Winnick.

Seline explains that she’s here to help and provide an act of mercy and briefly mentions King Magnus, the son of the king, as the one who ordered this. Ellsworth is shocked by this news, as he does not know that his brother, the king, has died.

Seline offers him to return to Phalen, the royal city where they are from, but he refuses, as he believes he now belongs to Sacra as its home. She then mentions the attack that happened and that they have managed to find a surviving raider.

No Rest for the Wicked

The two guards will be bringing the same woman who ambushed your ship in the prologue. This girl is Odessa, and she is the daughter of Ellsworth.

Odessa doesn’t believe in the church and how they are helping, and accuses them of not doing anything, but her father stops her, saying it’s not worth the hassle.

No Rest for the Wicked

After this cutscene, Roan will tell you that they have prepared lodging for you to rest after your long journey, but this is just the beginning.

This will complete the Sacrament quest of the game, and now you will have all the time to explore the city and its merchants at your own pace.
