Norse: Oath of Blood is a tactical turn-based RPG where you are on the path of vengeance. However, before you can take revenge, you need to get much stronger in a lawless land. To do that, you must gather more fighters, build a complete settlement, and only then will you be able to finally take your revenge. For more information on the game, head over to its Steam page.

Now that you are building a settlement, there are going to be many projects you need to complete while progressing. These projects can be interrupted by certain quests. This walkthrough covers the quests A Karl Comes Begging and Iron Will in Norse: Oath of Blood.

Disclaimer

Norse: Oath of the Blood is a tactical turn-based RPG game. So A Karl Comes Begging And Iron Will missions are based on how I proceeded with the game and the tactics that I found to be the best. In your case, the enemy may act completely differently, and you may not face the same formation attacks. That is completely normal, as our tactics may not align with each other.

Continue Building Your Settlement

Now that you have completed some important quests, you need to continue building the settlement. Do not blindly press next turn, as you will run out of provisions quickly if you do. Instead, start some important projects, like the Fishing Hut and the Dock, so you can access food much more easily.

Other than that, you should focus on projects like the Smithy, while not forgetting about the Seamstress. It is worth noting that once you unlock the Smithy, you will be able to craft much better weapons. This means you will perform better in combat.

After that, focus more on the Fisherman and Huntsman projects as they will help you gather more provisions. Once you unlock the Smithy, you will also be able to fulfill the requirements for building the Village Market. It requires four turns to complete, so do not rush it. Simply start additional projects, and press next turn only when plenty of projects are already underway.

Soon enough, you will receive two story missions to complete in Norse: Oath of Blood: A Karl Comes Begging and Iron Will. The deadline for A Karl Comes Begging is quite short, but you have plenty of time for Iron Will.

A Karl Comes Begging – Walkthrough

As you start the fight, you will be able to select four of your characters for this mission. Alongside Gunnar and Sigrid, I recommend taking Arn and Buldi. However, you can choose any characters you prefer. Gormr is also a solid option, so if you want to replace Buldi, I recommend him.

Speak With The Homestead Owner

open barrel in Norse: Oath of Blood

As you begin the A Karl Comes Begging quest in Norse: Oath of Blood, your first objective is to speak with the homestead owner. Before doing that, head to the open barrel just ahead to collect 20 provisions. After that, head back and take the path to the right toward the shore.

There, you will find another open barrel containing additional provisions. After looting it, head back and take a right. Near the fire, you will find the village chief. You need to speak to him. However, before you do, head left, where you will see a wooden bridge. To the right of the bridge, there is another open barrel containing 15 oil.

Loot it and then cross the wooden bridge. You will see a bag hanging from a rope. Shoot the rope down and loot the bag. After that, return to the village chief and speak to him. Once you finish the conversation, your objective will change to defending the village and protecting the Homestead Owner.

Defend The Village And Protect The Homestead Owner

There will be four outcasts surrounding the Homestead Owner or the village chief. From the looks of it, the enemy standing directly in front of him has used Engage on the village chief. You will be given several blue tiles to place your characters on. Place all of your close-range attackers on the front line, and position Sigrid on the back line, preferably on the left side.

The best strategy here is to use Arn and move him to the tile on the left side of the village chief. You can switch the turn order of your characters in certain situations. On your first turn, press Tab to switch between characters. Use Arn to move next to the village chief and then use Mighty Hew.

Mighty Hew targets three tiles, so you should be able to hit two enemies at once, which is very impactful. If you have Buldi, then after the enemy’s turn, you can leap across the tiles and strike the enemy near the chief. Now, if you are fortunate, you may be able to eliminate both enemies quickly.

That said, in case you do not want to use Buldi, there is another option. You can use Sigrid to finish off the enemies you already weakened with Mighty Hew. Once you have dealt with the first four enemies, a few more will join the fight.

Take Care Of The Reinforcements

Around five more enemies will join the fight, and they will come from all four corners. One of the enemies will take the high ground. Deal with the one on the high ground using your two archers. After that, focus on the enemy on the left side and defeat him with Gunnar.

However, do not forget about Buldi if he is alone on the right side. Move Arn there as well and eliminate that enemy. Then move both characters further to the right and take care of the next threat. This fight should not be too difficult unless you miss several key attacks.

Remember that you must protect the village chief. No matter what happens, do not let him die. The archer on the high ground may target him, so prioritize taking her out first. If the village chief takes damage, use a Bandage from the character standing closest to him to restore his health.

Once you have defeated most of the enemies, the fight will intensify as additional reinforcements arrive.

Take Care Of Even More Reinforcements While Protecting The Village Chief

Three more enemies will enter the fight from the northeast side of the fire. In total, six additional enemies will join, and you must defeat them as well. Using Cripple on some of them will work in your favor, especially since you have two archers who can apply it.

I recommend moving Sigrid and the village chief to the high ground after defeating the enemy archer. If enemies begin surrounding your team, use Arn’s Mighty Hew to your advantage. This can allow you to secure back-to-back executions if positioned correctly.

If you successfully perform executions, move on to the next target and activate Iron Will to maintain your momentum. Continue eliminating the remaining enemies and then loot the area. You should be able to search several bodies for extra resources. Once everything is cleared, the mission will be complete, and the quest A Karl Comes Begging in Norse: Oath of Blood will come to an end.

Now, your next mission does not need to be rushed, so you can take some time to prepare before moving forward. You can build more of your settlement first and then proceed accordingly.

Iron Will – Walkthrough

As you start the quest Iron Will in Norse: Oath of Blood, you will be able to choose five characters. Choose any you prefer, but I recommend Gunnar, Sigrid, Arn, Buldi, and Gormr. The first objective you receive in this quest is to speak with the bog poachers.

Talk To Bog Poachers Extracting Iron In The Swamp

Head straight ahead, loot the open barrel, and then continue forward. Just up ahead, you will encounter some enemies. As you approach them, you will have a conversation with a bog iron harvester. The negotiations will fail, and you will now need to defeat them all in combat.

Defeat The Bog Poachers

As usual, deploy your characters and make sure to place the close-range fighters on the front line. Once you have deployed, the enemy will make the first move and advance toward you. If the two approaching enemies are close to each other, about one or two tiles apart, you can use Mighty Hew to target both of them at once.

The Jarl of the Mire will have a lot of health, so defeating him will take some time. He also has one armor, so if you have not damaged him yet, using Mighty Shot will remove that armor. I also recommend using Cripple on him. After that, use Gormr and Arn to focus their attacks on him, and he will eventually fall.

One thing you need to be very careful about is the presence of traps. You will notice that the enemy is affected by the Cripple status effect quite often. The same can happen to your characters. Only move across the wooden platforms, so as to avoid triggering traps. After that, deal with the enemies on the northwest side and the ones on the east side.

Do not use Cripple on the enemies immediately. Instead, let them come toward you. Defeat them using Gunnar, Arn, and Gormr. If you did not send Buldi to the far left side, he can also be very useful here. Once you defeat all of them, loot the bodies and proceed to the next objective.

Investigate The Trail Leading Away From The Swamp

From the swamp, head north. On the right side, you will find dried meat. Select a character with low health and use the dried meat to restore their health. There are also red berries ahead, so use them to heal your team further.

Soon, you will notice glowing red eyes in the distance. As you approach, your objective will update to defeating more bog poachers.

Defeat The Bog Poachers In The Camp

attacking in Norse: Oath of Blood

This fight is going to be very different, as many enemies will have cover and high ground. They will also be positioned far away. You will need to move forward because the enemy will not advance, as they know they have the advantage. Keep in mind that you can break the wattle fence with a single hit.

You do not need to enter through the main entrance. Simply break the fence and move your characters inside. If their bowman is using Alert, be smart and use Sigrid to attack him and remove him from that stance. Then move your close-range characters to the right side while keeping Sigrid in the middle.

execution in Norse: Oath of Blood

Use Sigrid’s attacks to deal with the enemy on the left high ground. If enemies cluster together, which they likely will, use Mighty Hew on them. This will also knock them back and may deal additional damage. After clearing those enemies, move forward to deal with the remaining high-ground opponent. Then, move Sigrid onto the high ground and attack the enemies on the left.

There are going to be quite a few of them, but it will not be too difficult to defeat them. Use Cripple on the enemy with the most health and focus all of your characters on attacking him. After attacking, move your characters one or two tiles back so that he cannot reach you on his turn. Defeat them, and the quest Iron Will in Norse: Oath of Blood will be complete.
