Octopath Traveler 0 Walkthrough – The Scarlet Tyrant Chapter 1

In the last two parts of our Octopath Traveler 0 walkthrough, we did a fair amount of townbuidling and got Wishvale to level 2. Let’s do some of the main story quests now. Let’s tackle Master of Power’s first quest, “Ch. 1: The Scarlet Tyrant”

Gather Information about Tytos

Fast travel to Emberglow. Head to the weapons trader and buy Stimulating Earring for your party. SP is at a premium most of the time.

Once you are done with that, head to the Tavern.

Speak to the barkeep to start the quest.

Talk to the Scarlet Wing

Go to the end of the bar to speak to the Scarlet Wing solider. But before then Recruit the Hero-Extolling Minister in the Tavern.

You can take some loot from him too by using Entreat. Now talk to the Scarlet Wing soldier, Velnorte. You will get two choices –

Choose “Learn about Tytos”. Velnorte will leave and we will see cutscenes about Rinyuu.

Follow Velnorte East

Follow the quest marker to find Velnorte in the East District. You will have to fight the Abnormal Ruffian now. He is weak to Sword and Arrow strikes. You can keep him stun locked and take him down. Once the fight’s over Velnorte will invite you to his house.

Go to Velnorte’s House

Head north to Velnorte’s house. Watch the cutscenes play out. Once you have control check the blue sparkle on the top right corner for Battle Music Score II.

Follow Velnorte

Head out of the house and follow Velnorte east. On your way there use Path Action on the Man Distrustful of Laboratory.

He is pretty low level and you can get a decent Philosophy Tome off him by using Contend. Anyway, head into the Emberglow Laboratory. Inside the laboratory, head down the stairs and pick up the chest.

Follow the path north to see Velnorte heading west. There is a miniboss here guarding a red chest.

Miniboss: Menacing Ice Lizardman IV

He is weak to Axe and box strikes. In my party, Phenn, Macy and Stia all have either axes or bows. So pretty easy to break armor. You will find a linen robe once the boss is down.

Now head west towards the path where Velnorte went. Pick up the chest down the path.

Now, go up the path and through the door. Once you are up the stairs, you will find two cells. The left one has a chest.

Go through the second to last door on the left and up the stairs. Another chest inside the room on the left. There is a red chest on the far right of the balcony.

Go through the door in the middle and then up the stairs to save. Check the blue sparkle for another musical collectible.

Go through the path on the left. Go up the stairs and turn right. You will Velnorte enter a room with a red carpet. Watch the cutscenes play out. Eventurally Velnorte will request you to help stop Al. Accept this request.

Search for the Servant Al

It would be a good time to spend some JP to learn some new skills and unlock Support Skills. Otherwise, go to the right to find a room with a chest. There is a mini boss here.

Miniboss: Menacing Senior Fellow I

He is weak to sword and axe strikes. Keep him stun locked throughout by using 1 point of BP and hitting him twice per character. He should go down very easily. Once he is down go up the narrow path to find a Red Chest with a Bolstering Break Mastery.

Now take the stairs down and save. Check near the table in the library and you will find Al.

Boss: Al the Servant

He is weak to sword and axe strikes. Keep him stun locked and watch out for his bleed. Velnorte makes the fight quite trivial with his party wide buffs. You can either promise to say nothing or not. I chose to keep quiet. You can now choose to Lie to Rinyuu or not. I chose to lie.

Rinyuu will reward you with a Bell Amulet and ask you to spend the night at the inn. Watch the cutscenes play out.

Observe Velnorte

Once you have control back, go back to Velnorte’s house. Watch the cutscene play out. This will end Chapter 1: The Scarlet Tyrant.
