Of Ash and Steel is a Gothic-inspired medieval RPG where your choices matter. In this game, you should not expect any hand-holding, and that is going to be a pain to deal with. You will have to do everything on your own, and at the beginning, you will not even have access to a map.
So, finding items or someone can be extremely complex. One such quest, Fox’s Flawless Plan in Of Ash and Steel, is pretty complicated. The most complicated part of this quest is how to find the fox at the end. In this guide, I will tell you exactly how to complete this quest without any problems.

How To Start Fox’s Flawless Plan

After you have completed the quest, One Good Turn, a new one will start. However, before that, there are quite a lot of things you can do. Head out, keep following the path, and near the sign pointing toward three directions, you will find Fox sitting at his camp on the right side.
Initiate a conversation with him, and he will ask you to do something for him. He wants you to help him loot the smugglers’ cache from the village. If you have 6 INS, which you are unlikely to, at this point, you can choose the dialogue option “I’ll do it, but I want half the loot!”. If you cannot select this option, then simply select the first one and follow Fox to the village. It will be a slow walk, but bear with it and walk at his pace.
Where To Find All Three Stashes

If you listened to the dialogue clearly, you would know exactly where to find all three of the stashes, but it can get a little confusing. The first one is just ahead, to the left of the cart. Pick it up, get back on the main path, and head straight. Just ahead will be a house with an open door to your left.

Enter inside, and there will be another stash to the right. However, this time, some rat monsters will attack you, so be prepared to fight. You should have a sword already, which can be found in the chest near where you woke up. If you don’t have something to fight with, then run toward Fox, and he will take care of them.
Once you have defeated the rat monsters, get out of the house, head left, and follow the path. To your right, you will find a home with a closed door. The door will be locked, and a key is required, but ignore that for now. Keep following the path, and just ahead will be the old stable. Inside, there will be the third stash, so after finding that, head back to Fox.
Give him all three sacks, and then he will open the door of the locked house for you. However, then he will lock you inside, so now you have to escape.
How To Get Out Of The House

As Fox has now betrayed you, you need to get out of the house. Inside the house, you can find a Tavern Note in the room on the very right. You can explore the house for some items, but the exit is on the left side. In the left area, to the right side, you can find a Strength Potion. Inside that room, jump on the box, then go right and jump to grab the wooden wall. Then simply get out, head left, and inside the waste will be a ring.

Interact with it to get the Iron Ring of Tenacity. Now that you are outside, you can explore the village to find more items. Then comes the most annoying part of this quest: finding Fox. Even if you go back to his camp, he will not be there. However, I managed to find him, so I will tell you exactly where he is.
How To Find Fox

I searched for him for a lot of time because, as I mentioned before, there is no hand-holding in this game. Therefore, you can expect similar difficulties in the future as well. After exiting the house, head back to the stable, and you will see a path to its right.

Follow the path, head straight, cross the bridge, and you will hear Radim calling for help. Ignore him for now and head left. Keep following this path and ignore the enemies on the way. You will then come across a watch tower. Keep going ahead, and you will find Fox. Beat up the rat monsters, climb up, and talk to him.

You can now either take all of the loot or take half. I went with half, which rewarded me with 150 Gold, and the quest will be over.
That is pretty much everything you need to know about Fox’s Flawless Plan quest in Of Ash and Steel.
