Palworld – Getting Started Walkthrough

Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Palworld.

After a long journey through Early Access, Palworld has finally reached version 1.0, bringing a massive amount of new content alongside all the updates, improvements, and collaborations added throughout its development.

There is more to discover than ever before, with new areas to explore, new Pals to catch, and plenty of surprises waiting around every corner. Whether you’re jumping in for the first time or, like me, you’ve been playing since day one and decided to start fresh with the 1.0 release, there’s a lot to see and experience.

So grab your gear, gather your Pals, and stick around as we dive into our complete Palworld walkthrough adventure!

The Beginning

The game starts with your character finding himself on the shore after his ship got wrecked. Your memory is fuzzy.

In front of you, you will find a device with a message that says: “The towers are the key. The tree holds the truth.”

You pick it up and then begin your journey. You will find yourself in front of the gate to the Hill of Beginnings. From here, the game will teach you some of the basic gameplay mechanics.

Go through the gate and you will find a statue just below. Interact with it to unlock fast travel. Throughout the world, you will find many of these statues, and whenever you find one, you should interact with it.

Fast travel works by approaching one of these statues and interacting with it, which opens the map and lets you pick where you want to fast travel. You can only fast travel to your Base or any activated Great Eagle Statue.

To your left, you will be able to see a small camp with a person sitting by it. Speak to him. The guy will introduce himself and then take the device you found earlier and install a Survival Guide for you.

At the end of the conversation, the guy will ask you to get yourself sorted out and then head for a nearby settlement to meet other people and see what you can do for them.

Prepare Yourself

You can check the Survival Guide from the Options menu. It has a lot of useful information about different aspects of the game, so you can refer to it if you feel stuck or need to be reminded of certain mechanics.

Set Up a Workbench

The first thing that we need to do is build a workbench, but we do not have any materials. Head down the hill and collect fallen branches, or you can hit trees with your melee weapon to harvest wood.

Once you’ve collected two pieces of wood, open the build menu and select the Primitive Workbench. Find a safe, flat surface and build it. This workbench will allow you to craft some basic items to survive at the start.

Craft a Stone Axe and Stone Pickaxe

This brings you to your next task, which is to craft an axe and a pickaxe at the workbench. However, you will need materials for them.

In addition to wood, we need stone as well, and just like we did with wood, you can find fallen stones nearby.

Both the Stone Axe and the Stone Pickaxe require 5 Stone and 5 Wood each, so collect 10 of each in total and then head to the workbench and craft both of them. These tools will allow you to harvest both wood and stone faster.

Increase Your Level

From all this hard work, you will gain levels, and with that come experience points that you can put into your stats. You can enhance your stats by opening the Inventory menu and clicking the option at the bottom right.

All of the stats are important, but first we want to focus on increasing Health and Stamina.

Catch Your First Pal

Now by yourself, you will not be able to survive this world filled with not only dangerous people but also dangerous Pals. Fortunately, you have the ability to tame Pals to your own will, and this is done by using Spheres.

First, open the Technology menu and unlock the Pal Sphere recipe at Level 2. This will allow you to craft Spheres at any Workbench, and each one requires one Paldium Fragment.

Now you need to go hunt for the materials. Paldium Fragments can be obtained by mining the blue nodes that are usually found near water. The closest one to your location is to the west, where you will find a lake.

Use the pickaxe to mine the nodes and obtain at least ten Paldium Fragments.

Head back to the workbench and you should spot the Pal Sphere recipe there. Craft at least two Spheres and be prepared to catch your first Pal.

Pals can be found everywhere here, and it does not matter which one you choose. What matters is that you need to know how to catch one.

The catching system works on a percentage basis depending on the rarity of the Sphere you use and the rarity and level of the Pal you want to catch.

When you aim a Sphere at a Pal, you will get a capture rate that informs you of your chances to capture it. However, there are ways to increase this capture rate:

First, you can weaken the Pal before throwing a Sphere at it, and second, if you throw the Sphere from behind, you get an additional capture bonus.

There are a bunch of Chikipi and Lamball around you, so you can catch at least one of each. Simply hit them a few times and try to throw the Sphere from behind for a higher capture rate.

Set Up Your Palbox

In order to manage the Pals you will be capturing, you need to set up a Palbox. This is basically where your base will be, and the boundaries of your base depend on where you place your Palbox.

First, go to the Technology menu and unlock the Palbox at Level 2. In order to build it, you need 1 Paldium Fragment, 8 Wood, and 3 Stone.

You already know where to get all of these things, so go ahead and gather the resources. When you have everything, try to pick a good place for your Palbox, preferably a flat and open area for now.

Do not worry, you can relocate your base easily by simply destroying the Palbox and building a new one in your next favorite location in the world.

As mentioned before, the Palbox is where you can manage all your Pals. This means you can choose which ones you take out with you during your adventures and which ones you keep at your base doing work for you.

That’s right, Pals come in all shapes and forms, and they can work for you. They can be assigned to certain tasks at workbenches, gather materials, fight alongside you, and many of them can even be used as mounts.

For now, open the Palbox and drag the Pals you captured to the bottom section where it says Base Pals. This means these Pals are summoned at your base and can do work depending on their suitability.

Filling Your Belly

All this hard work has made our character hungry, and it is time to get some food. Food can be found around the world, cooked from materials you gather, or received as rewards from quests.

Given that you are still starting out, you will have a few raw food items that you can consume from your inventory.

Simply select the food you want and choose your character to eat it. You can feed Pals as well whenever they are hungry.

Gear Up

The day has slipped by with everything you had to do, and nighttime is already here, bringing a cold breeze with it. Your character does not have proper clothes, so he feels cold.

Feeling cold or hot affects your health and drains it until you equip the proper clothing for the environment.

For now, we need to craft some basic gear before starting our journey toward the settlement. For this, you need a Cloth Outfit, a Common Shield, and a Normal Parachute.

All three of these can be unlocked from the Technology menu, and you should have enough points to unlock them.

The Common Shield and Cloth Outfit are available at Level 4, while the Normal Parachute is available at Level 5. A useful tip here is to unlock the Cloth recipe from Level 4 as well because you will need it.

All of these items can be crafted at the workbench you built earlier, but you will need to gather the materials for them. Here are all the requirements for each item:

• Common Shield: 10 Paldium Fragments, 20 Wood, 20 Stone, 20 Fiber
• Cloth Outfit: 2 Cloth, 7 Fiber
• Normal Parachute: 10 Wood, 2 Cloth

See why we told you to unlock Cloth as well? You need it for these items. Cloth requires Wool, which is dropped by the Lamballs around the area. Fiber, on the other hand, is obtained when you chop trees.

Whenever you gather all the materials, go to the workbench and craft all of these items, then equip them from your inventory.

Now you’re all set for a , although you could take your time and build your base, capture more Pals, craft a weapon such as a bow or spear, and even upgrade your stats further.
