Palworld – Rayne Syndicate Tower Boss Fight Walkthrough

Welcome to Into Indie Games and the second part of our Palworld walkthrough!

After finding yourself stranded on a beach with nothing but a strange device by your side, you decide to follow its instructions in the hope of getting back on your feet.

Since you’ve arrived in an unfamiliar world, your first priority is figuring out what’s going on and what you can do next. That’s exactly why your journey begins at the Small Settlement, the perfect place to gather information and start making sense of your surroundings.

Note
This is part of our Palworld – Walkthrough Hub, so if you want more content about the game, be sure to check it out.

Head To The Small Settlement

After you finish all the tasks displayed on your device, your character is ready to head toward the Small Settlement that the lone surviving surveyor mentioned.

This settlement is located west of your current location, so head in that direction. You will eventually reach a small town where you will find a number of NPCs and some tamed Pals as well.

There are a few vendors here that you can interact with and certain NPCs that offer side quests, but for the main quest, you need to speak to the Chief, who is sitting in the center of the settlement.

During your conversation with him, he will tell you the story of this world and the Pals, and he will also mention the World Tree.

Basically, one must reach the truth in order to uncover the answers behind everything there is to know about these islands.

That’s all this Chief knows, but he tasks you with heading to the Rayne Syndicate Tower. The person residing there might have clues on how to get closer to the truth.

Crafting Pal Gear

Before you make your way to the tower, you need to make sure you are well prepared. Your next task is to capture a Fire-type Pal called Foxparks and unlock its harness.

There won’t be any objective marker, but Foxparks can be found in multiple locations. The closest one is just southeast of the tower, where you will find a large open area. Here, you should spot a few Foxparks roaming around.

You will get an objective marker when you are close to one of them. Remember the tips for capturing a Pal successfully: weaken the Pal’s health first, then do your best to throw the Sphere from behind.

We recommend that you capture at least four or five of them because you will need them for the next fight that’s coming.

With Foxparks captured, head back to your base and open the Technology menu. You need to unlock both the Pal Gear Workbench structure and Foxparks’ Harness at Level 6.

Build the Pal Gear Workbench using 10 Paldium Fragments, 30 Wood, and 2 Cloth, then interact with it. Here, you will be able to craft all gear related to the Pals that you capture.

For the Harness, you will need 3 Leather, which can be obtained automatically by capturing or defeating Pals, 5 Flame Organs, which you should have enough of if you captured a few Foxparks, and 5 Paldium Fragments.

Crafting this Harness will activate Foxparks’ Partner Skill. This allows you to hold Foxparks and attack using it as a flamethrower.

When this step is complete, head back to the Chief and report your progress. He sees that you’re ready and asks you to head to the Rayne Syndicate Tower and deal with the boss there, but this might be a bit too early for you.

Rayne Syndicate Tower Boss Fight – Zoe And Grizzbolt

You would think that Zoe and Grizzbolt would be a simple introduction to the game’s boss battles, which means it would be easy, but that is not the case at all. If you’re not prepared for it, you can be defeated almost immediately.

The fight is much tougher than most players expect. Grizzbolt hits hard, moves surprisingly fast for its size, and can quickly overwhelm underprepared players with powerful Electric attacks. The good news is that once you understand the fight and come prepared, Zoe and Grizzbolt become a very manageable encounter.

Preparations

Before heading into the tower, spend some time strengthening both your character and your Pal team. While it’s technically possible to challenge Zoe and Grizzbolt at a lower level, you’ll have a much smoother experience if you arrive around Level 12 to 15.

This gives you access to better gear, stronger Pals, and enough health to survive a few mistakes. If you’re still below that range, it’s worth exploring the starting regions, capturing new Pals, and completing Paldeck entries for the extra experience.

Not only that, but you want your main Pals in your party to be at least Level 10 as well. Those few additional levels can make a huge difference once the battle starts.

The Best Pals To Bring

The biggest thing to remember is that Grizzbolt is an Electric-type Pal, which means Ground-type Pals have a natural advantage.

One of the easiest options to grab early is Rushoar. You’ll find it roaming areas west of the Plateau of Beginnings, and it’s easily one of the best companions for this fight.

Not only does it deal Ground-type damage, but it also has enough durability to stay in the battle for a decent amount of time.

Another solid choice is Fuddler, which can usually be found around rocky areas and cave systems in the early region. It isn’t particularly flashy, but its Ground-type attacks are exactly what you’re looking for.

If you’re still building your roster, Gumoss is another excellent pickup. Since it appears throughout several beginner-friendly zones, most players can capture one without going far from their starting area.

Even with these Ground-type options, don’t hesitate to fill the rest of your party with your strongest available Pals. A high-level Neutral-type Pal is often more useful than a low-level Ground-type one, and don’t forget to bring Foxparks as well.

Ideally, you want a full team of five Pals that can stay alive long enough to keep pressure on Grizzbolt throughout the battle.

The Loadout

Going into the fight with starter gear is possible, but it isn’t something we recommend.

You want to have the Three-Shot Bow as your primary weapon, which you can unlock at Level 10 from the Technology menu. It offers reliable ranged damage and allows you to stay at a safe distance while Grizzbolt focuses on your Pals.

Alternatively, if you reach Level 13, you can bring the Crossbow. It deals more damage from a much greater distance, but it has a longer reload time.

Whichever weapon you want to bring, make sure you have plenty of arrows because running out halfway through the fight can be frustrating.

When it comes to armor, at a minimum, you should be wearing the best armor available to you at your current level. Even basic upgrades can reduce the amount of damage you take from Grizzbolt’s attacks.

Don’t forget your shield either. While you will only have access to the Common Shield, it can still absorb some attacks at the cost of its charge and can regenerate over time.

As for food, stock up before entering the tower. Simple options like Baked Berries, Grilled Lamball, and Grilled Chikipi are more than enough for this encounter.

Any healing items from food you can cook or potions you have should be kept on hand because having healing items available can be the difference between recovering and restarting the entire fight.

Zoe And Grizzbolt Attacks

Once the fight begins, you’ll quickly notice that Zoe mostly serves as the rider while Grizzbolt handles the actual threat.

One of the attacks you’ll see most often is a volley of Electric projectiles. These glowing shots travel directly toward your position and are usually easy to avoid as long as you’re moving sideways.

Grizzbolt also uses larger Electric area attacks that can catch you standing still. Whenever you notice an attack animation beginning, start repositioning immediately rather than trying to squeeze in another shot.

Another move to watch for is the charge attack. Despite its bulky appearance, Grizzbolt can close distance surprisingly quickly. If you get too comfortable standing in one spot, it can punish you hard.

Later in the fight, Grizzbolt may chain together several attacks in rapid succession. Simply run away from these attacks, and you should avoid most of the damage.

Fortunately, Grizzbolt has one major weakness: Ground-type damage. That’s why Ground-type Pals, as mentioned before, perform so well here.

How To Defeat Zoe And Grizzbolt

When it comes to beating Zoe and Grizzbolt, the biggest lesson here is not dealing more damage. It’s about learning to stay alive, manage your Pals, use cover, and maintain constant movement.

As soon as the fight starts, send out your strongest Ground-type Pal and let it take the lead. While Grizzbolt is focused on your Pal, circle around the arena and fire arrows at Zoe, not Grizzbolt, whenever you have a clear shot.

The pillars around the battlefield can be surprisingly useful. They’re not perfect cover, but they can interrupt a lot of attacks and give you a moment to regroup, heal, or wait for your shield to regenerate.

Whenever one of your Pals starts taking heavy damage, don’t be afraid to swap it out. Simply recall the critically injured Pal and send out your next one.

Keep rotating through your Pal party to maintain pressure on the boss, and most importantly, prevent a single Pal from being knocked out too early. Most importantly, resist the urge to stand still and unload damage.

Palworld

The biggest mistake you can make here is standing still and spamming your shots. While Grizzbolt can be distracted by your Pal on the field, it can easily switch aggro to you at any time, so you must stay constantly alert. Keep moving, keep shooting, and let your Pals do their job.

Eventually, Grizzbolt’s health will start dropping faster than you expect if you keep this strategy going.

This is, of course, for a solo attempt against the boss. However, if you’re tackling the tower with a friend or a larger group, the encounter becomes significantly easier.

More people means multiple players can split Grizzbolt’s attention, creating more opportunities to attack safely while reducing the pressure on any single player.

After you finally defeat Zoe and Grizzbolt, you will be rewarded with 5 Ancient Technology Points and the Key Sphere of Envy.

Report To The Chief

You have no idea what the key is, so you decide to go back to the Chief and report your achievement and progress. It seems that he also does not know much about it.

Although he tells you to go and ask Zoe herself, she will probably have the answer that you need.

Speak To Zoe

Zoe can be found standing in front of her tower, so make your way there. Speak to her, and you will learn that there are seven more Key Spheres that you can obtain.

Getting your hands on all eight Key Spheres might reveal what they are used for and perhaps could hold the truth behind the World Tree.
