Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Phoenix Springs.
This is a point-to-point walkthrough that takes you through the critical path to completing the game. Phoenix Springs has a lot more to offer apart from the steps outlined in this walkthrough, so we highly recommend that you explore and interact with its world as much as possible.

Desert 1
We’re back on the train now. Except now that the train has stopped, you can get off it.
Use the door to the right of the screen and head out into the desert.
Here, go to the red station and talk to the boy dressed in red. When you enter the conversation with him, use the lead Leo Dormer.
You’ll get a new lead: Crying One. Use this lead in conversation with the boy to get another lead: The One-Oh-One.
Now end the conversation if you wish, and head back to the desert.
Now keep going to the right side of the screen, past the red ladder, and then another screen right.
On the screen you end up at, you might notice some rocks on the left side of the screen that look like a half-obscured ‘101’ number.
Use your lead The One-Oh-One on these rocks to proceed to the next area. Head in to the Oasis once it’s visible.
Oasis 1
Go south to reach the Tree Stump. Our goal now is to find this ‘Crying One’ individual. You can explore the oasis and talk to other characters, but most of them won’t be of much use to you.
We’ll take the scenic route here, so that you get to see a good bit of the oasis as you go.
From the tree stump, go right to the bridge, and then right again across the bridge to the old tree.
At the old tree, go right to the orchard, then through the gap in the trees to the other side of the orchard.
Go past the orchard to the stone steps, and then right to another old tree.
From this old tree (with the squatting man), go right to the gate and then right again to the river bank.
Here, go right to the broken bridge, and right again to the village. Finally, in the village, go inside the cabin on the right side of the screen.
Talk to the crying girl here and in conversation, mention Leo Dormer.
To proceed, you must now help the Crying Girl remember three things: her craft, her name, and her appearance.
To get a clue, talk to the Crying Girl again and use the lead Crying One Craft.
From this you learn that the Crying Girl burnt her instructions, so now our objective is to find out where she did this.
Go back to the village now and make your way to the river bank area. You can reach this place by going left from the village to the broken bridge, then going north ignoring the bridge.
Enter the cabin by the river bank, which you’ll notice is full of rotting fruit and a guy enjoying the smell.
Use the lead Burnt Instructions on the fireplace next to the light-headed man.
You’ll get a new lead: Erdnakh. If you use this lead in conversation with the Crying Girl, you’ll learn that you’re on the right track. (Doing this is not necessary).
Now make your way back to the bridge that you crossed shortly after entering the oasis. You can do this either by backtracking, or by using the path to the right of the Crying Girl’s cabin.
Go back to the Tree Stump area and then the Clearing to the left, where you’ll find paper hung out to dry.
Enter the cabin on the left side of the screen, where you’ll find a writer. Talk to her and use your lead Erdnakh in conversation with her.
From this we learn that Erdnakh referred to ‘baked rectangle’. Your goal now is to figure out what this could mean.
While there are a few possibilities you can explore, there is only one correct answer. To figure it out, return to the part of the village where the Crying Girl’s cabin is.
Here, instead of entering the cabin, notice the kiln in the center of the village. As you might guess, the baked rectangle is a brick.
Use your lead Baked Rectangle on the kiln to gain the lead Bricks. Now enter the cabin with the Crying Girl.
Talk to her and mention the lead Bricks.
From this, we’re done with not only the craft lead, but also the name lead, as the Crying Girl remembers that her name is Mason.
We only need to remind her of her appearance now. First, go to the broken bridge to find that Mason has relocated there.
Then, go back to the river bank from the broken bridge, then left to the gate, left again to the old tree with the squatting man, and then finally, go south to the statues.
Here, look at the statue on the right, which is of a builder with a trowel. Use the lead Mason on this statue.
This doesn’t tell us what her appearance is like, though. So continue past the statues and take a right where you find the Surgeon’s statue.
You’ll find a still man by the beach here. Talk to him and in conversation, mention the lead Headless Builder.
With this, you gain the lead Sand Portrait.
Return to the old tree now, and follow the people as they go to the gate.
Go through the gate to reach the Burnt Tree.
After the sequence that follows, use the only lead available: Leo Dormer and target it on Iris’ head.
