Phonopolis Walkthrough Part 1: Scenes 1–10

Phonopolis

Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for the first part of Phonopolis, where we guide you through how to complete the game’s first ten scenes.

Note
This is part of our Phonopolis – Walkthrough Hub, so if you want more content about the game, be sure to check it out.

Scene 1

The opening cutscene of the game shows you the city of Phonopolis. This city is abundant with loudspeakers at every corner that send commands to force the people to work. And keep them on track.

The game then shows us the main character, Felix, who is working in the landfill. Just when he is introducing himself, the loudspeaker sends a command and forces him to go back to work.

When you can control Felix, you can click anywhere on the screen and he will walk there. However, the loudspeaker will send its command and it will take you back to the crusher machine.

Do this a few times until Felix is required to move the crusher upward. It will get stuck and this will cause Felix to fall underground.

Scene 2

Click on Felix to wake him up and then try to walk among the rubble to the right. You will reach a large portrait painting. Interact with it, Felix seems to recognize her from somewhere, but he has no idea who she is.

Next, you need to interact with the record player sitting on top of the old piano. This will reveal the opera house stage. Somehow, there is the sound of a woman singing, and you need to go there and investigate.

Scene 3

When you reach the stage of the opera house, interact with the rope on the right side and drag it down to remove the curtains. This will reveal the stage.

What you need to do here is remove the rubble on stage. Start by dragging the rope on the top left of the screen twice until you get the sun hanging. Pull the rope from it and it will cause it to fall.

Next, lift the column and drop it from the stage to the right. Then move the rock chunk as well.

As for the crate in the middle, in order to remove it, you need to pick it up, move it upward, and then drop it a few times to destroy it.

Finally, for the last rock chunk left, move it to the right and drop it there. This will give you access to the pyramid, which you can push toward yourself.

This will break the pyramid and reveal a set of headphones. Interact with them and Felix will pick them up. He does not know what they are for, but soon he shall understand their use.

Now you need to exit the old opera house, you can do so by tearing the background sticker completely. This will reveal a ladder that you can take to go back to the landfill site.

Scene 4

Just when you are back at the site, Felix will go and finish his work at the crusher. The loudspeaker of course sends commands to force the people working, but you have an idea.

It is time to try putting the headphones on, drag them from the top right of the screen and put them on Felix. Felix will realize that these headphones make him immune to the loudspeaker commands.

He still needs to finish his job and fill the crusher, so what you need to do here is interact with the loudspeaker in order for the workers to keep filling the crusher. You need to make sure it reaches the red zone on the meter.

When it does, interact with the crusher, this will cause it to break since it has too much on it. The police will then arrive and instruct Felix to go back to work.

They realize that somehow Felix cannot follow the command from the loudspeaker, and just as he tries to leave, the officers pick him up and put him in the police car.

Scene 5

During the ride, pull the sticker from the vehicle to reveal the control diagram. You need to tweak it in order to escape the police.

Start by setting the first switch to liquid mode. Set the second switch to the right. Then move the middle switch to gear. This changes the tires into wheels. After that, increase the vehicle speed using the bottom switch.

It should look like this. If done correctly, you will notice the driver losing control of the vehicle. The vehicle will also become partially destroyed.

During the second part, keep the speed high. Turn the water on as well. Change the wheels so the water pours directly into the driver’s face.

The control diagram should look like this. If done correctly, the vehicle will become even more destroyed. It will still need one more push before you can escape.

For the final part of this ride, the control diagram is partially destroyed as well. There are fewer options, along with an additional one.

On the button switch, remove the sticker on the right side. Reveal the extra button and turn it on. Move the first switch, the yellow part, to the left. Change the wheels back to the default setting.

It should look like this. If done correctly, the vehicle will reach top speed. The cannon will jam, causing the vehicle to go wild, stop working, and fully destroy itself.

This is Felix’s chance to escape as he makes it back to the city of Phonopolis.

Scene 6

Felix is in the city and he can walk around and interact with the various objects and buildings around him. Felix realizes that the loudspeakers have no power over him and he can explore freely without any commands.

Make your way to the left side until you reach a plaza where a painting is hanging and a loudspeaker is hanging above it. Interact with them and then backtrack a bit until you see a paper plane coming your way.

It seems there is a letter written on it that invites Felix to the Women’s House to meet, suspicious as it may be, but it seems to be for a good reason.

The Women’s House is located on the right side, you cannot miss it as it is the building with the round shapes and number signs.

Scene 7

The goal here is to reach the fourth floor, but it will not be an easy task. Start by opening all the shutters on all four floors, this will reveal the interior.

Move Felix to the fourth floor. When he reaches it, he realizes that there are some stairs missing. Take the stairs back down, and on the second floor, Felix will accidentally drop a plant.

This will trigger the loudspeaker and send a command to clean it, the woman living on that floor will come out and start cleaning. This will also reveal more buttons that you can interact with.

Start by sliding the third floor to the right and then interact with the chimney on the right side to connect the second floor and the third floor.

Now, at the bottom of the building, press the right button to send smoke to the third floor.

This will cause the woman living there to start screaming, again triggering the loudspeaker to send a command to the worker sitting on the ground floor next to the staircase.

He will rush toward the third floor and try to rescue the woman, and luckily for you, he opened the door to reach the staircase, so that is one step done. Make sure to click on it before the worker goes back down.

Felix will hide the staircase on the other side, but there are still a few things to do. When the worker is back at his spot, you need to get rid of both the woman on the second floor and the woman on the third floor.

Move the third floor to the right so the woman goes outside and tries to get some sun, as soon as she goes out from her apartment, move the floor back to the left so she will fall down to the ground floor.

She and the worker will meet again and start flirting, and he will take her back to his apartment. Now in order to get rid of the cleaning woman, simply interact with the button on the left at the base of the building.

This will trigger water coming out from the fourth floor, which activates a loudspeaker command to send her to clean it. Now that the way is clear, simply climb up and make it to the fourth floor room.

Scene 8

Felix makes it to the apartment on the fourth floor and it is filled with different paintings and objects you can interact with.

Eventually, three men will come out from the storage room and introduce themselves to you. Felix recognizes these three men as the traitors from the posters around the city.

Just when the three men start talking to Felix, he accuses them of betraying the Leader, but they just laugh. They mention that all of the Leader’s ideas and the Absolute Tune are just a disguise that people are following.

A great proof of this is that Felix, ever since he found the headphones, has never taken them off, so he already knew that these loudspeakers and their commands were a bit too controlling.

Felix proceeds to ask about the woman in the portrait that he keeps seeing. She is Rachel and she was the best opera singer in the town. However, it seems she disappeared out of nowhere.

Interrupting the conversation is some strong knocking on the door, it is the police and the three men hide and leave the apartment while Felix can only sneak inside the piano.

In order to throw the police off, you need to interact with all five objects here, the chandelier, the piano, the drawer, the accessory, and the clock.

After that is done, the clock will fall from the wall and this will convince the police that there is no one here. Just when they are looking back, Felix exits the piano and flees from the apartment.

Scene 9

Just when Felix is about to escape, he falls from the fourth floor and the scene will change. Felix seems to be flying and you need to keep moving to the left and colliding with objects until you reach a strange planet.

What you need to do here is rotate the planet that you are sitting on until a face reveals itself, with the opera singing in the background.

Scene 10

The next scene shows Felix unconscious on the floor because of the fall. Interact with him in order to wake him up. Felix finds himself on the rooftop of some building and he needs to cross to the other side.

The only way to do so is by using the cables on the sign next to him, but you need to get rid of the letters here to clear the path. Here is how to do it.

  • Start by unscrewing both bolts from the letter T, which will cause it to drop.
  • Move the letter O back and forth until it becomes loose and drops.
  • Next, untie the letter N.
  • Remove the bandage from the letter E.

This will clear the path and you can use these cables to cross, however, the police catch up to you and they will start rotating the ropes to pull you back.

All you have to do here is move between the upper and lower cable depending on the direction the police officers rotate it, this way it will confuse them and you will make it to the other side safely.
