Pioneers Of Pagonia – Complete Walkthrough Part 2

Pioneers of Pagonia featured

Pioneers of Pagonia is a city builder, but it is a little different from the average game in this genre. In this game, you develop a colony on a specific island, and once you have completed the main objectives assigned to that island, you move on to another one. You then have to create a brand new colony from scratch.

Because of this structure, things can get a little complicated. That is exactly why I am providing you with complete walkthroughs that explain how to progress through the game. This is my second walkthrough of Pioneers of Pagonia, where I will cover how to complete the third and fourth main objectives while building a colony.

For more information about the game, head over to its Steam page. There, you can also interact with the community and learn more about the game.

Disclaimer

This is not literally a complete Pioneers of Pagonia walkthrough, as city builders usually do not have a definitive end. There is now a proper story campaign, so I will try to cover each chapter and provide you with an elaborate walkthrough for certain sections of the game that will help you get started and enjoy the experience. Do not get me wrong, there are objectives, and I will be focusing on them more. I will also try to include as much high-quality content as possible in this walkthrough of Pioneers of Pagonia.

Search For Clues About The Tower Of Visions

Now that you have defeated the leader of the bandits and found Captain Kirk, you will move on to a new island. The main objective on this island is to search for clues about the Tower of Visions. You will be given different objectives, such as searching for another village and completing a few settlement progression quests.

Most of these objectives will be simple enough for you to complete on your own. They will not be difficult, as you will regain access to the features and resources you already had on the previous islands. With that in mind, proceed with the basic tasks and start building your colony.

Build An Explorer’s Hut To Start Exploration Early

Even though you have just started building a colony on this island, I highly recommend building an explorer’s hut early on. This will allow you to find the nearby village more quickly. That said, you do not have to build one immediately after starting your colony. You can wait a short while, and I recommend progressing as quickly as possible while training your army.

This is important because thieves will soon infiltrate your settlement and steal the magic compass. This is an event that is guaranteed to happen, and you will not be able to train soldiers fast enough to stop it. Only rangers can identify who the thieves are while they are in disguise, so it would be too early to rely on regular soldiers.

Rangers are quite useful, as they can spot the thieves in disguise and allow your military units to attack them. Keep in mind that the thieves will try to flee, but if you have units on patrol, they will take care of the rest. Because of this, it is important to have some rangers patrolling your borders at all times. Your next task will be to track down and defeat the thieves who stole the magic compass.

Find And Defeat The Magic Compass Thieves

Now you need to train 20 rangers, and if you still have not set up an explorer’s hut, do so, as the explorers will help you locate the thief camps. While you are doing this and progressing through the dialogue options, you will receive some urgent objectives. One of them will require you to quickly claim the opencast mines.

Note

While the game asks you to urgently claim the mines, there does not appear to be a strict time limit. I managed to claim them early, so I am not sure whether the scavs would take over the mines if you delay the process. Still, I recommend claiming the mines as early as possible. That said, while scavs are extremely tanky, you can fight them effectively using Blade Dancers. Your other soldiers will not be able to deal much damage to the scavs, so the dancers are essential.

Recruit Blade Dancers To Defeat The Scavs

You will also need to fight the scavs, and Atra will make a suggestion on how to deal with them. Recruit Blade Dancers, as they tend to perform better against the scavs. You will also discover some ruins, which will unlock another building and a new objective.

Train Rangers To Identify The Thieves In Your Colony

Note

One of the main objectives on this island is to teach you how to deal with the thieves. They can disguise themselves, infiltrate your camp, and steal items. To prevent this, you will need rangers. No other units can spot the disguised thieves, so it is important to have rangers patrolling your borders if you want to avoid random thefts.

To the northeast side, you will discover a thief camp. If you do not train rangers, the thieves will continue to infiltrate your settlement and keep stealing from you. Make sure to train some rangers and assign them to patrol the area. You will be tasked with defeating quite a few enemies, so your main goal should be to build a strong army.

Do not waste too much time on other activities. Create a functional colony, but place a stronger focus on military development. Recruit rangers and Blade Dancers, and also train some advanced soldiers. Blade Dancers will deal with the scavs, while the advanced soldiers will make quick work of the thieves.

Stop The Scavs From Claiming The Mine

Do note that the scavs will approach the mines, and you will receive a dialogue from Atra warning you about it. You need to stop them in their tracks, and the only way to do that is by using Blade Dancers. The mines are located on the northwest side, and if you still do not have explorers lifting the fog of war, you will need to act quickly.

Claiming The Mines

If you are having a tough time locating the mines, you can find them by simply clicking on the objective. The mint will be the closest to you, so assign guards to claim it.

Soon after, you will discover another thief camp, so take care of it, and eventually, the scavs will start attacking one of your units. This is why I recommended training Blade Dancers earlier. To the left of your settlement, there is another mine. Claim it by sending your guards or explorers. Once you have done that, there will be only one mine left to claim. The last mine can be found on the north side.

If you have been continuously exploring and defeating the thieves, you will eventually receive a pop-up from Atra stating that the thieves who stole the compass have been defeated. I am not sure if this pop-up appears for everyone automatically or if you need to actively fight the thieves, but it appeared for me after defeating several thieves and capturing a couple of mines.

Collecting Back The Magic Compass

So, now that the thieves have been defeated, all that is left is recovering the compass. Since the thieves have already been dealt with, you do not necessarily have to go and collect the compass yourself. Keiran the explorer will retrieve it for you, and you will have the magic compass once again.

Now, remember that the first main objective was to search for clues about the Tower of Visions. That was not possible without the magic compass. With the compass recovered, you can now proceed with that objective once again.

Urgently Claim Village Leader’s Wrecked Cart

As you make progress on the island, you will get a pop-up telling you that there is a village leader’s wrecked cart that you need to claim. Scavs have also discovered this, so you have to claim it before them. That said, the landslide has caused a lot of debris to fall and block the way.

Now, you have to build a pathfinder’s hut and hire ten pathfinders to progress further. After a while, Atra will ask you to build a Garrison to attack the Scavs with larger troops. Then, more objectives will appear, but they will be fairly simple. Complete them while the pathfinders destroy the debris to clear a way to the wrecked cart.

Claim the cart, and some dialogues will appear. It seems that the leader of the brave miners has been captured by the Scavs. Your new aim is to defeat the Scav boss.

Locate And Defeat Scav Leader

Now the leader of the Scavs can be found on the south side of the debris (to the left). So, get your army and the Blade Dancers ready and attack the fort. After defeating the first Grimy Bulwark, you will get some dialogue from the others. Keep on training your army and attacking Bulwarks.

Do note that there are also Scavs north of where the debris is. Use the pathfinders to remove the debris and attack with your army. There are plenty of Bulwarks, so be patient and plan your attack. Keep training your army and hit them with a bigger force. Again, there are going to be many camps of Scavs, so you need to be very careful, or you can lose a lot of your army.

Do not worry, the Scavs will not attack you head-on, and as you attack one of the camps, the others will not join the fight. Keep training your army while completing the other tasks. Since the Scavs will not attack your camp, you can go at your own pace. Take down one hostile camp at a time, and eventually, there will be very few left.

Train More Blade Dancers And Defeat The Scavs

The leader of the Scavs can be found north of the debris you cleared on the right side. However, as you attack them, Atra will say that you need to train stronger fighters. So, as I mentioned before a few times, train your Blade Dancers and send them into battle.

Once you have trained enough Blade Dancers, launch an attack, and you will be victorious. There you will also find the leader of the village. After the dialogue ends, you will see the victory screen, and it seems like we did not find much of the Tower of Visions.

The Ghost Village Island

Disclaimer

I have not explained everything regarding what to do on The Ghost Village Island, as there is simply too much to cover. However, the game will give you clear indicators and signs about which buildings to construct and what to do next. Focus on those, and keep in mind that it will take some time before you see the victory pop-up. Be patient and continue playing at your own pace.

After you have defeated the Scavs, you will move on to the Ghost Village island, where your initial objectives will be fairly simple. Just build the structures you are tasked with, and you will be ready to continue forward. That said, your main objectives are to defeat the bandit camp and to discover the Silent Village.

You will have learned a lot about the game, so progress with confidence. Creating a settlement will not take you long now. Keep advancing until you have recruited some soldiers and you are ready to fight. As you progress, Atra will reveal the location of the bandits, and you will also discover the Silent Village there.

Build Geologist’s Hut

Note

The Ghost Village island may take the longest to clear so far, as it features several lengthy quests. Simply finding the bandit camps can take a lot of time, and on top of that, you will need to complete many additional quests. Play at your own pace and utilize the 5x speed boost to make progress faster. This will help you save some items.

Defeat the bandits and defend the village warehouse. Complete all of the objectives, and you will eventually receive a dialogue pop-up that introduces the Geologists. At that point, you will need to build a Geologist’s Hut to further progress in the game. Aside from this, your main objectives are to defeat six bandit camps, including the one located on the northern side.

Note: gaining access to gold and steel can take some time. However, do not worry about this and continue playing at your own pace. There is no time limit to defeat the bandits, so take your time, build up your colony, train plenty of soldiers, and then complete the main objectives when you are ready.

Make sure your explorers are actively doing their job and locating the bandit camps for you. Send Geologists out as well to search for resources. Eventually, the explorers will reach areas they cannot pass, and that is where pathfinders become useful. Be sure to utilize the strengths of each type of pioneer, as this is a key mechanic that the game has been teaching you.

Note: as you learned on the previous island, thieves can disguise themselves as your own people and infiltrate your colony, stealing resources. This will also happen on this island, so to prevent it, you will need to train rangers and have them patrol your borders. Only rangers can detect disguised thieves, so make sure you have some trained and ready.

Discover The Bandit Camps

Note

As you progress through the game, you will receive many secondary quests that you need to complete. These are mandatory, and since you have not learned everything yet, the game will try to teach you as much as possible. Make sure to build the new structures and learn what they do to have a better experience.

The best way to discover the camps is by using explorers. Build a few Explorer Huts and send your explorers out to search for the bandit camps. It will not happen instantly, but it also will not take too long if you continue exploring steadily. Make sure to pay attention to the messages that appear on the left side above the map, because when an enemy camp is discovered, a red text notification will appear there.

Do not rush to attack the camps as soon as you find them. You can take your time, train your army, and then attack with full strength to defeat the camps more efficiently.

Note

Bandit camps will not be easy to find, and it may take a lot of time to locate them. Do not worry about that and take your time. Build a few explorer huts and let them do their job. Eventually, you will find every single camp, so be patient. There are also some other main objectives aside from defeating the bandits.

As you progress, you will receive different quests, such as defending the villagers at the Broken Wagon and defeating the specters near the Broken Wagon. Complete these quests while you are clearing out the bandit camps. Your main objective is to defeat all of the bandits. You need to conquer six of their camps to complete this objective.

However, completing this is not enough. You also need to deal with the specters and save the village from them. Once you finish the bandit quest, this will become your new main objective. After completing it, you will receive the victory pop-up, and the Ghost Village island will be concluded.

Note

This should be enough to get you started in the game, as you now know almost all of the basics. If anything new occurs, you will most likely understand it, so I will not proceed further with the walkthroughs. This means the second part is the last one, as the rest of the journey will not be that complicated.

With that, part two of my Pioneers of Pagonia walkthrough is complete. I did not explain every building you need to construct, as there are far too many new ones. However, you will figure out what to do as you progress.
